Patent number: 5758395Abstract: In a warping machine, once a temporary feed speed for a warping reed is set in synchronism with the speed of rotation of the warping drum, the winding thickness of the warp lap is detected several times and the feed speed is corrected depending on the number of revolutions of the warping drum and the winding thickness that results therefrom. The winding of the warp lap is then completed at the corrected feed speed. During a starting phase, a theoretically correct feed speed for at least the first revolution of the warping drum is derived from warp parameters, such as the total number of threads, the width of the warp and the yarn count. The winding thickness of the first warp section is continuously and contactlessly measured during a learning phase that follows the starting phase, or during the starting phase. For that purpose, a winding thickness measurement arrangement is held at a predetermined, substantially constant distance from the surface of the warp layer that has just been wound.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1996Date of Patent: June 2, 1998Assignee: Karl Mayer Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbHInventors: Josef Lenzen, Herbert Wisniewski, Josef Heuermann

Patent number: 5758426Abstract: A rotary can opening cutter provides a method of opening a can in order to reduce the possibility of spillage, facilitate consistent paint mixing and colorant addition, and provide re-sealing and subsequent mixing by shaking. After cutting, the "slug" is left to sink to the bottom of the can and thus saves any solvent or paint which was adhering to the slug. Since this operation is contemplated to occur while the can is in place under a colorant dispensing machine, the chance for spillage by actions of the paint attendant are eliminated. After colorant is added, a small plastic cap is forced into the hole to form a tight fit.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1996Date of Patent: June 2, 1998Inventor: Charles George Richter
