Abstract: The invention provides a side fastener comprising a fastener element in which a metallic coating layer is formed, the metallic coating layer being never scraped by a sliding of a slider. In a coil-shaped fastener element made of synthetic resin, a metallic coating layer is formed on the surface of a leg portion except an inverted portion and a coupling head with which a guide flange and a guide post of a slider come into contact. Therefore, no metallic coating layer is formed on a portion with which the guide flange and guide post of the slider come into contact. As a result, such an event that the metallic coating layer is scraped and that metallic powder is scattered is prevented, so that a fastener element having a beautiful metallic gloss can be used for a long term and a cheap, fashionable slide fastener is obtained. This invention can be applied to zigzag type, injection molded type and metal type fastener elements.

Abstract: The inventive method provides highly desirable hand to various different types of fabrics through the initial immobilization of individual fibers within target fabrics and subsequent treatment through abrasion, sanding, or napping of at least a portion of the target fabric. Such a procedure includes “nicking” the immobilized fibers thereby permitting the fibers to produce a substantially balanced strength of the target fabric in the fill and warp directions while also providing the same degree of hand improvements as obtained with previous methods. Furthermore, this process also provides the unexpected improvement of non-pilling to synthetic fibers as the “nicking” of the immobilized fibers results in the lack of unraveling of fibers and thus the near impossibility of such fibers balling together to form unwanted pills on the fabric surface. Fabrics treated by this process are also contemplated within this invention.

Abstract: An incremental swaging process securely affixes a sleeve, such as a metal ring, to the external surface of a cylindrically workpiece, such as a hollow configured metallic casing. Successive portions of the sleeve are incrementally swaged by a tooling element whose tooling surface dimension is less than the axial dimension of the sleeve. During relative rotation between the tooling element and the casing upon which the sleeve has been place, the tooling element is incrementally brought into and out of mechanical engagement with axially adjacent and overlapping surface regions of the sleeve. This incremental swaging technique results in very tightly swaging axially successive annular portions of the sleeve against axially successive, annular surface portions of the rotating casing, leaving the sleeve very securely affixed to the casing.

Abstract: A dual GMR or dual spin valve sensor has a self-pinned layer which has its magnetic moment pinned perpendicular to an air bearing surface by sense current fields from conductive layers in the dual spin valve sensor when a sense current is conducted therethrough. This scheme eliminates one of the antiferromagnetic pinning layers which is typically employed in a dual GMR or dual spin valve sensor. The self-pinned layer is thin so that its demagnetization field will not be greater than the sense current fields acting thereon. Because of the thinning of the self-pinned layer the spin valve effect of the spin valve sensor is degraded by scattering of conduction electrons at the boundary of the self-pinned layer.

Abstract: Traversing yarn guiding rods in textile machines producing X-packages are often made of carbon fibers for the purpose of reducing the inertia force. These kinds of traversing yarn guiding rods are prone to wear at their bearing points. For this reason, the bearings, having a distance to one another which corresponds to at least twice, preferably three times the traversing stroke, are collectively replaced from time to time, in such a way that the yarn guide rod is supported at different places than before. The replacement bearings are applied staggered to the old bearing points in such a way that the new bearing points now have a distance to the exposed previous bearing points, which distance corresponds to at least one traverse stroke. This results in the replacement bearings acting with a non-worn part of the fiber guiding rod. The life of the yarn guiding rod is thus significantly increased.

Abstract: A bucket tooth capable of preventing a bolt from being loosened during operation is provided. In order to allow the bucket tooth to generate a resilient return force after attachment, a warp is caused by resilient deformation so that a face on the bucket lip side becomes a concave face. As another means, a spot facing portion is formed around a bolt hole into which a fastening bolt is inserted, on the side facing the bucket lip.

Abstract: Methods and assemblies are described for displaying interchangeable graphics sheets on a display face of a merchandise cabinet such as a vending machine. The interchangeable sheets are stored on spool assemblies disposed within the cabinet and may be either manually or automatically manipulated in order to selectively register different graphics sheets within the display face of the vending machine. In a first embodiment, the graphics sheets have adhesive areas thereon in order to attach an old graphic sheet to a new graphic sheet to unwind the new graphic sheet from the spool assembly and position it into the display field on the face of the vending machine. The old graphics sheet functions as a leader for the new graphics sheet. In a second embodiment, the graphics sheets are provided with tear-off flexible leaders which are utilized to unwind the sheets from the storage spool assemblies and to position the graphics sheet into registry with the display fields on the face of the vending machine.

Abstract: A decoy assembly for a turkey or other decoy has an animal decoy body that can be a collapsible hollow form with an expander. The body is carried on a mounting that is adjustable in height, has a nodding feature by which the body can bow forwardly and aft, and also can rotate over a span that is limited to less than a full revolution. Several alternative arrangements are provided. The mounting can have a blade-like strip having a substantially greater width than thickness, fitted to the body and rotatable in a hollow tubular section of the a ground engaging stake part. The ground engaging part can have a radial inward crease that acts as an angular stop. The strip is preferably a spring and is aligned such that its greater width is lateral to the decoy body. Flexing of the body on the strip causes a fore-and-aft bobbing motion.

Abstract: A system and method for removing harmful biological and organic substances from an enclosed structure, vehicle or container includes protecting heat-sensitive articles within the enclosure. The structure is enclosed with a tent having an air inlet and outlet. A plurality of temperature probes are positioned at predetermined locations within the structure. The air within the structure is heated to a predetermined temperature of between a 110° F. and 400° F. to kill organisms and cause harmful substances in the structure to migrate into the ambient air. The heated air carrying the harmful substances is vented from the structure and passed through a filter to remove the harmful substances from the heated air. The system effectively kills insects, molds, viruses and bacteria and reduces the levels of allergens and volatile organic compounds in the structure.

Abstract: A sealing apparatus for forming a weather seal between a vehicle and a loading dock is provided. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a roller seal rotatably mounted to a support for rotation about an axis. The roller seal is movable in at least a vertical direction from a first position in the path of a vehicle entering the parking area, to a second position wherein the roller seal is disposed adjacent the top of the vehicle. Preferably, a curtain is suspended distally of the roller seal such that, when the roller seal is in the second position, the curtain forms a first seal with the top of the vehicle and the roller seal forms a second seal with the top of the vehicle. The curtain is semi-rigid and, in some instances, defines a ramping surface to facilitate movement of the roller seal over the leading edge of a vehicle approaching the loading dock.

Abstract: A formwork system is provided for prefabricated concrete parts, wherein a magnetic body can be set with its underside on a base plate and over which formwork parts can be fixed in their respective position. The formwork part has a lift-off stirrup engaging over the magnetic body, and between the lift-off stirrup and the cover side of the magnetic body facing away from the base plate there is a slot into which the magnetic body is retractable with a lifting element. This formwork system is characterized by a retaining elements which are releasably coupled on the magnetic body when it is retracted into the slot. This has the advantage that, by the couplable retaining elements, the magnetic body is securely fixed in the lift-off stirrup in its retracted state. Preferably, the coupling elements are constructed as magnetic and adhesion surfaces, which are arranged in the region of the slot between the magnetic body and lift-off stirrup.
