  • Publication number: 20010004873
Abstract: A crossing arm assembly that includes either one or two hollow, tapered fishing rod bodies cantilevered at their butt ends to a beam-mounting portion of a combined pivot/bracket. A crosspiece connects the tips of the rods. The combined pivot/bracket pivotally attaches to a support at the front end of a bus to block pedestrian traffic from crossing immediately in front of the bus when the bus is stopped. The rods are tapered in mass and cross-sectional area from their butt ends to their tips. The taper concentrates rod mass closer to the support to reduce the tendency of cantilevered rods to sag under their own weight and/or to swing forward as the bus decelerates. The taper also increases rod flexibility to prevent plastic rod deformation and to reduce loads on the support when external forces are applied to the rods. A flap is pivotally attached to one of the rods to increase beam visibility without adding significant wind resistance.

Abstract: There is provided a valve timing control system for an internal combustion engine, which is capable of properly setting the reference position of the cam phase by learning, and at the same time promptly establishing a learned value of the reference position when the learned value is lost, thereby accurately changing the cam phase for proper control of the valve timing of the engine. A cam phase change mechanism changes the cam phase. A reference value indicative of a reference position of the cam phase is learned at a predetermined learning speed based on the cam phase detected when the cam phase change mechanism is in a predetermined operative state, and the learned reference value (learned value) is stored in a RAM. When the loss of the learned value from the RAM is detected, a learning speed at the reference value is learned is corrected such that the learning speed is increased from the predetermined learning speed for a predetermined time period.

Abstract: A method and a device for facilitating the sliding, along a track, of an element having a predominant axial dimension subjected to an intense force pressing it against the track, particularly for facilitating the sliding of a wire subjected to stranding in stranding machines. The method consists in interposing between the element and the track a pressurized fluid which contrasts the force that presses the element against the track. In this way, the sliding friction of the element on the track is reduced and it is possible to reduce the force to be applied to the element in order to achieve its advancement along the track.

Abstract: A precision fine powder dispersing supply apparatus includes a fine powder storage vessel, a minute amount supply feeder, a supply device for supplying fine powder in the storage vessel to the minute amount supply feeder, and a discharging device for discharging the fine powder from the minute amount supply feeder to the subsequent process. It is preferable to dispose a heat unit to the transportation path of the fine powder discharged from the minute amount supply feeder. Further, it is preferable to dispose fine particle sensors to the minute amount supply feeder to confirm the feed operation of the fine powder. With this arrangement, the precision fine powder dispersing supply apparatus can stably supply the fine powder in a dispersed state in an ultra minute amount with pinpoint accuracy.

The ferrite grains have an average grain size of not less than 2 &mgr;m but less than 4 &mgr;m. The second phase has an average particle size of not more than 8 &mgr;m and in not less than 80% of the second phase, the spacing of the second phase particle with the closest second phase particle is not less than the second phase particle size. The steel sheet has an ultrafine grain structure, superior mechanical characteristics, reduced anisotropy in its mechanical characteristics and high formability. A process for producing the steel sheet is also disclosed.

Abstract: Where the length LD of a resin film forming region is, for example, 3 times as long as the pitch of the sprocket holes of the base film, the resin coating is performed by using 6 nozzles, and where the length LD is, for example, 6 times as long as the pitch of the sprocket holes, the resin coating is performed by using 3 nozzles. As a result, the transfer distance of the base film transferred in a single resin coating process is 18 times as long as the pitch of the sprocket holes. It follows that it is possible to set constant the time for the base film to pass through the drying section even if the length LD of the resin film forming region differs.

Abstract: A method of producing a drainage grid or network comprising a number of interlocked strips is disclosed which comprises providing a warp direction a plurality of strips having a channel or channels formed longitudinally therein, feeding such strips into a bonding zone wherein a filter material is bonded over the channel or channels, subsequently providing strips of polymeric material transverse to the warp strips and bonding them thereto to form the weft of the network and thereafter collecting the network or grid so produced. The warp and weft may be produced from yarn reinforced polymeric webbing which is heat bonded to give a mesh. It has been found that polyolefin materials, particularly polyethylene, are suitable. Where reinforcing is provided this may be in the form of reinforcing polyester yarns and are preferably inserted in the longitudinal direction in bundles. The filter fabric may also be a thermoplastic material and may be heat bonded, needle punched or woven.
