Abstract: A process and a device for producing filtration-active fibers is described. An aqueous suspension is produced from a homopolymer of polyacrylonitrile, polyamide or cellulose acetate and the suspension is heated in a tank to a temperature T which is at least 60° above the boiling point of the water and at least 30° C. below the softening temperature of the polymer. The at least plasticized polymer mass which has been obtained in this way is discharged through at least one nozzle means at least using the autogenous pressure of superheated water. The device calls for that the suspension is prepared in a storage tank, that a mixing tank is connected to the storage tank and is made for heating an aqueous polymer suspension under pressure, and that furthermore there is a nozzle means for discharge of the plasticized polymer mass located at the output of the mixing tank.

Abstract: A method for maintaining the hydrophobicity of a hydrophobic polyolefin textile material over time and use, The method includes providing a solution having a pH level between 3.5 and 5.9, subjecting the hydrophobic polyolefin textile material to the solution, and drying. The processed hydrophobic polyolefin textile material maintains hydrophobicity with a contact angle with water of at least 90 degrees permanently. The processed hydrophobic polyolefin fabric can be used in a monolayer or bilayer configuration. The processed hydrophobic polyolefin fabric improves the water vapor transfer through the processed fabric because the processed hydrophobic polyolefin fabric does not saturate, wick or swell with liquid perspiration thereby reducing water liquid attached to fabric pores which increases the volume of space for diffusion of perspiration vapor from the skin, through the fabric, to the outside ambient air. The result is a drier, more comfortable processed garment.

Drying gas of low-molecular silicone generated in a drying gas generation part is heated by a heater and thereafter supplied from a drying gas supply nozzle. The drying gas is supplied to the main surface of a substrate being pulled up from de-ionized water stored in a cleaning bath as a stream. Silicone contained in the drying gas is condensed on the surface of the substrate, substitutes for moisture, and thereafter vaporizes. Silicone is excellent in permeability·dryability, and hence can suppress formation of a water mark also on a substrate having a refined·complicated structure. Further, silicone applies no load to the environment, and hence increase of a cost required for the drying treatment can be suppressed without requiring specific treatment for disposal.

Abstract: A boot comprises an upper, an outsole affixed to the upper, and an insole affixed within the boot. The upper includes a vamp, a counter, and a shaft. A flexible but substantially inelastic liner is affixed to the insole and to the upper, to and around an upper portion of the shaft, but is not affixed to the vamp, to the counter, or to a lower portion of the shaft. An ankle strap and an instep strap are affixed within the boot. The instep strap is affixed below the ankle strap. Being elastic, the ankle and instep straps are adapted to restrain a foot of a wearer so as to limit movement of the foot away from the counter, further into the vamp.

Abstract: An excavating bucket assembly for excavation apparatus that does not use pins to connect teeth to adaptors on the excavation bucket. Each adaptor includes a receiving portion defined therein that is at least partially defined by an abutment wall. Each tooth includes an interference portion. The connection system includes a biasing portion adjacent the abutment wall and a locking portion adjacent the biasing portion. The locking portion includes a locking section and an interference section that engages the interference portion of its respective tooth. The locking section and the interference section are capable of movement relative to one another to thereby couple the tooth to the adaptor.

Abstract: A lighted flexible display device or sign, useful for advertising purposes, and having a battery supply mount. The display device herein is a lighted display and is constructed to be flexible in the presence of inadvertent bumping or deflection thereof. The mounting is resilient such that, when the deflecting force is removed, the sign springs back to its normal lateral position. The mount for the display device includes a battery supply, with such supply being electrically connected to the electrical circuit of the sign proper. This is accomplished by means of electrical leads passing through a deflection restoration spring, by such leads passing through a resilient tongue, or with connectors used in a spring-biased pivotal construction for connecting the battery supply to the electrical lighting circuit of the sign.

Abstract: Gasoline additives of the present invention comprise nitrogen-containing compounds obtained by hydrolyzing a polyoxyalkylene glycol derivative resulting from polymerization of an epoxy compound using a suitable ketimine compound as a reaction initiator or by modifying the terminal ends of a polybutene compound with amine. Blending the inventive gasoline additive to a base gasoline can produce a gasoline composition which is suitable for use in direct injection gasoline engine.

Abstract: The invention relates to a reactor vessel and method for the gasification of carbon-containing fuel, residual and waste materials using an oxygen-containing oxidizing agent and in a reaction chamber which is designed as an entrained-bed reactor, at pressures between ambient pressure and 80 bar, preferably between ambient pressure and 30 bar, the contour of the reaction chamber being delimited by a cooling system, and the pressure in the cooling system always being held at a higher level than the pressure in the reaction chamber, and the cooling system withstanding the maximum possible pressure difference with respect to the reaction chamber, which has been depressurized to atmospheric pressure, which reactor vessel is distinguished by the fact that cooling channels are formed by webs which are in contact both with a refractory protective layer and with the pressure shell.

Abstract: The plastic back-up shear plate is laterally disposed with generally a spring fit into the outwardly facing mouth of a metal window frame. The outwardly facing frame mouth is formed and defined by the window frame elongated hollow body and particularly by outer wall elements which face each other in an opposing manner. The plastic back-up shear plate has laterally disposed opposite outer edge portions which are interlockable on corresponding outer wall elements of hollow body metal window frame which wall elements define the mouth of the window frame. In a perpendicular direction, the back-up shear plate has a opposing edge portions with interlock on window frame mouths having a slightly different dimension. The plastic back-up shear plate lateral lips to lock onto lateral frame mouths having different dimensions for different sized frames. The shear plate is constructed and arranged to fit, with appropriate change in orientation, window frames of two different mouth openings.

Abstract: An insulated concrete form panel assembly for constructing insulated concrete walls includes a frame comprising a plurality of steel studs and at least two cross member that connect the studs together. A pair of insulating panels are fastened to and span respective inner and outer opposing sides of the frame so as to define concrete receiving cavities between the panels and the studs. A brick ledge may be constructed by separating a laterally extending, generally rectangular elongated mid portion of the outer insulating panel from a remainder of the outer insulating panel. An upper edge of the mid portion is then moved a predetermined distance outward from the remainder of the outer insulating panel such that the mid portion is disposed in a desired position at an angle to the remainder of the outer insulating panel. The mid portion is then secured in the desired position relative to the frame.

Abstract: This invention pertains to a panelized modular construction system which employs a variety of square, rectangular and triangular panel shapes related to each other, being derived from a common grid subdivided cube. Combining these shapes of thickness practical for architectural application, these panels must be capable of being joined in many different angles and combinations along their sides, and in an unlimited combinations of angles at their corners. This construction system eliminates the strut and node framework typically found in many modular structures based on the geometry of various polyhedral forms. Located in the space between the sides of panels being joined, are simple connecting elements, independent of the panels, employed so as to join panels to each other in a manner that easily accommodate varying numbers and dihedral angles through almost 360 degrees.
