  • Publication number: 20010042310
Abstract: The flush cut power saw comprises a framework having a base plate with a saw blade slot extending through two risers located at one end of the base plate. At least two rods slidably receive a movable housing for supporting a motor at a location above the cutting blade. The motor is secured to a transmission to convert the rotary motion of the motor to a reciprocating, linear motion. The transmission is connected to a saw blade mounting apparatus, which linearly reciprocates a cutting blade, which adjustably extends below the mounting plate. The cutting blade may be adjustably positioned with an adjustable stop for depth in vertical alignment with the framework. The transmission reciprocally biases the cutting blade, enabling the cutting blade to reciprocally travel linearly in relation with the movable housing, to complete a cut flush with an adjoining surface, while controlling the depth of cut.

  • Publication number: 20010042313
Abstract: A control system is provided for a pivotally actuated tracer which traces an object (e.g., a frame mount of an eyeglass frame, a lens, or a lens pattern) while the object is held in a more-vertical-than-horizontal orientation. The control system comprises a trace control element and a gravity compensation element. The trace control element applies control signals to the pivotally actuated tracer. In response, the object engager of the tracer is pivotally actuated against and along the object to be traced with a biasing force toward the object. The gravity compensation element is adapted to compensate for the effects of gravity on the object engager by causing a varying pivoting force to be exerted on the object engager. The pivoting force varies depending on the rotational orientation of the object engager to keep the biasing force substantially constant along the object. Also provided is a data acquisition system for the tracer.

Abstract: A bladder which is particularly useful for a sole assembly of a shoe is formed of multiple layers of barrier film to provide multiple pressurized layers of cushioning fluid or gas when the bladder is filled. A multiple gas layer bladder enhances cushioning response by relying more on the response characteristics of the gas and reducing the amount of foam and the dependence on foam as a cushioning material. The internal film layers provide a truss-like geometry in cross section and act as tensile members to impart a generally smooth surface contour to the bladder. The bladder is constructed to provide complex regionalized cushioning profiles which are coupled to the anatomy of the foot and expected loads at known points.

Abstract: An authorization system for a firearm includes a personal device worn by the authorized user, modifications to the firearm's fire control system, and an authorization control circuit carried in the backstrap of the firearm handle. The authorization control circuit controls the fire control system and communicates with the personal device. If the personal device is worn by a user and is within range and properly oriented, it will respond to the first signal. If the correct coded response is not received, the authorization control circuit signals a bi-stable solenoid located near the trigger arm to move its plunger to an extended position where it will cam the edge of the trigger bar out of engagement with the sear when the trigger is pulled. Abstract: A window screen system is described in which the screen or mesh periphery has secured to it a strip of hook and loop fastener material and the corresponding window frame has secured to it a mating strip of similar fastener material. The strip of fastener material on the outer edge of the mesh is aligned with and placed against the mating fastener strip which has been previously secured to the appropriate location on the window frame. Each side edge of the mesh can be stretched and then applied against the window frame, whereupon the mesh is held tightly in place on the window frame. No separate frame for the mesh is required. The mesh can be easily removed for cleaning, transport or storage.

The self-centering lip can either be attached to the interior edge of the pipe to form a sleeve or to the exterior edge of the pipe to form a collar. An interior self-centering lip, or sleeve, slides into an adjoining fiberglass manhole section while an exterior self-centering lip, or collar, slides over an adjoining manhole section. The manhole adjustment ring is inserted between the cone section and barrel section of an existing fiberglass manhole to accommodate changes in elevation of the surrounding grade level. The self-centering lip may also be used on manhole sections to enable field assembly of a manhole.
