Abstract: A cooling approach is provided for cooling an electronics subsystem, such as an electronics rack. The cooling approach includes a coolant conditioning unit and a thermal capacitor unit. The coolant conditioning unit has a heat exchanger, a first cooling loop and a second cooling loop. The first cooling loop receives facility coolant from a facility coolant source and passes at least a portion thereof to the heat exchanger. The second cooling loop provides system coolant to the electronics subsystem, and expels heat in the heat exchanger from the electronics subsystem to the facility coolant in the first cooling loop. The thermal capacitor unit is in fluid communication with the second cooling loop to maintain temperature of the system coolant within a defined range for a period of time upon shutdown or failure of the facility coolant in the first cooling loop, thereby allowing continued operation of the electronics subsystem.

Abstract: This split-type room air conditioner absorbs the advantages of current split air conditioner and room air conditioner models. Our innovation makes it possible for a split air conditioner to be used in apartments and condominiums. We improved both air conditioner unit disadvantages. For example, a split air conditioner indoor unit is very flexible so that you can hang it up in the right place to get a good cooling balance, but the outdoor unit has a big size and is not feasible as a typical room air conditioner. And room air conditioners have a good size to fit pre-constructed apertures and window places, but only can be put in limited places (low level places), thus creating a cooling imbalance in the room and making too much noise. We did technological innovations to combine the advantages of both type air conditioners. We reduced the outdoor unit size thickness by ?. We have enhanced the cooling speed and reduced the noise level (db) of our room unit.

Abstract: Currently, there are no products available which allow a user to solely remove microbial and bacterial growth inside a blocked HVAC condensate drain line using compressed air without cutting into or disassembling the drain line. Our valve is an in-line condensate drain line valve that can be installed easily, quickly and economically, either during new construction or onto existing HVAC systems. The HVAC user can remove microbial and bacterial growths without cutting into or disassembling the drain line by injecting compressed air through the valve. The design of our valve allows the user to perform safe and routine maintenance to the HVAC drainage system without having to resort to expensive and repetitive service call repairs over the lifetime of the HVAC system. The valve is further designed to prevent undesirable reverse airflows into the HVAC system and home or building, caused by a dry trap in the condensate drain.

Abstract: This invention is for a highly efficient heat transfer unit and method for heat transfer for an air conditioning refrigeration unit. The invention has a plurality of condenser coils that stand generally vertically upright (with up to 20° tilt to optimize downward water flow with air being pulled across) between a splash louver and an evaporative fill material. The evaporative fill material and the splash louver transfer heat from the water by air cross flow to make the air conditioning unit very efficient and reduces the amount of copper coils needed. The condenser coils are cooled by water flowing down through them and into a sump. The condenser coils are also cooled by air pulled across them by a fan mounted on the top of the air conditioning unit. The sump in the bottom of the unit has a wall that directs the water in it to a water pump that then sends the water to the water distribution pipe.

The film is then imprinted with an image of an optical device by exposing the photosensitive sol-gel film to light energy patterned in the negative or positive image of the desired device, thereby photolyzing photosensitizer within the exposed portion in proportion to the amount of light energy delivered. The image of the written optical device is then fixed in the exposed film, thereby forming a planar device layer having an embedded optical device. The photoinduced refractive index change between the optical device and the surrounding region is preferably greater than or equal to 0.001. A variety of passive and active integrated optic devices may be fabricated using the disclosed processes and are also described.

Abstract: A method of forming a preform which has a glass core surrounded by an outer glass cladding with a coating of a light interactive material disposed between the core and cladding. The method includes providing a glass core having a viscosity which lies within a given preselected temperature range, followed by forming a substantially homogeneous coating of a light interactive material over the surface of the core, with the coating material having a viscosity which is equal to or less than the viscosity of the glass core. A glass cladding is formed over the coated layer, with the cladding glass having a viscosity which overlaps the viscosity of the core glass and a thermal coefficient of expansion compatible with that of the core. The light interactive material is an inorganic material which includes a metal, metal alloy, ferrite, magnetic material and a semiconductor.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a tape that comprises a weft-inserted warp knit fabric, which utilizes a combination stitch to secure the wales of the fabric. The combination stitch comprises a majority of successive chain stitches that are used with a minority of subsequent successive tricot stitches, such that the stitch follows the expression x+y, where x is the number of successive chain stitches and y is the number of subsequent successive tricot stitches. Contemplated x values are in the range of 5 to 15, and contemplated y values are in the range of 1 to 4. Multiple stitch formations can also be used (e.g., following an x+y/m+n/etc. configuration). The resulting weft-inserted warp knit fabric possesses superior dimensional stability and internal geometry, while maintaining the tearability requisite for a hand-tearable tape product.

In a special embodiment, the invention relates to a fabric for manufacturing articles of work clothing for protection against the effects of heat, flames or arcing and the like. Therefore, the invention also relates to an article of fire protection clothing with a novel, breathable, moisture-transporting fabric as the inner layer. However, the textile fabric can also be used in the leisure sector, for example, to manufacture functional undergarments.

Abstract: Disclosed is a cut-resistant sleeve. The sleeve is generally tubular in construction having a pair of opposite ends and defining an essentially tubular cavity extending between the opposites ends. The sleeve is knitted from a cut-resistant fiber where the knitting is formed using a rib type knitting stitch. The preferred knitting stitch for knitting the inventive sleeve is a 1×1 rib knit stitch. This type of knitting stitch is preferably knitted on a circular knitting machine.
