Abstract: An athletic shoe is disclosed that is lightweight and padded for use in mixed martial arts and other related activities. The shoe includes a soft, flexible sole, and a shoe upper adjoined to the flexible sole. Padding is attached to the shoe upper and the sole such that the padding extends substantially completely around the foot of a wearer. At least two resilient sole pads are attached to the flexible sole, the resilient sole pads being positioned at least under the heel and ball of the foot of a wearer, wherein no resilient sole pad is provided under the toes of a wearer.

Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a shoe including an outsole, an upper, and a lining member integrated into the shoe. The sling includes a receptacle portion and a fastener assembly portion. The receptacle portion, which generally lines the interior of the shoe, is secured along the collar of the upper such that the sock is movably suspended within the foot cavity. The fastener assembly is includes a central web and fasteners that wrap around the ankle of a wearer.

Abstract: Systems and methods for recovering manganese nodules from the seabed are disclosed. A buoyant body is generated by freezing water, forming a clathrate ice, or using a liquid that is less dense than seawater. Nodules that have been collected from the seabed are incorporated into or otherwise coupled to the buoyant body. The buoyant body is then released to make a free or tethered ascent to the surface.

An appointment card can be inserted in the AM slots and PM slots for the day and corresponding time of the appointment. A hinge or binding joins two more monthly sheets together. The sheets can be successively rotated on the binding which enables each monthly sheet to be rotated to the front viewing position. A representative method in accordance with a particular embodiment includes selecting an item of clothing and, before or after the item of clothing is worn a first time, removably attaching a first tag to the item of clothing. The first tag has a first fixedly integrated identifier having a characteristic attribute with a first value. After the item of clothing is worn at least one time with the first tag, the first tag can be removed and a second tag is removably attached to the item of clothing, with the second tag having a second fixedly integrated identifier with a second value of the characteristic attribute that is different than the first value. After the item is worn at least one time with the second tag, the item of clothing is designated for cleaning, and the second tag is removed.

Abstract: A multipurpose sign base suitable for supporting temporary roadway safety signs and the like includes an upstanding mast supportable atop a ground or support surface by a substantially horizontally extending, elongate, support member connected to a lower region of the mast, and by a plurality of elongate leg members of adjustable length each having an upper portion movably connected to a central region of the mast, and each having a lower portion movably connected to a different foot adapted to engage a different area of an underlying ground or support surface at locations arrayed about the mast. An upper region of the mast is connectable to a roadway safety sign or the like, to support and display the sign. The legs and feet have retracted positions near the mast. A rearwardly extending formation of the horizontal support member preferably can be coupled to a vehicle hitch so the sign base also can be supported on a vehicle for transport while displaying a sign carried by the mast of the sign base.

Abstract: A device for assisting in the chambering of a handgun that can also serve as a safety device for preventing unwanted firing of the handgun is disclosed. The device comprises a slide pull that includes an elongate laterally flexible structure having a first end configured for being releasably coupled to a first side of a slide of a handgun and a second end configured for being releasably coupled to a second side of the slide. A trigger restraint is coupled to the slide pull near a mid-portion thereof. In a first position, the slide pull is configured for being grasped by a user in order to chamber a bullet. In a second position, the trigger restraint is positioned relative to the trigger to prevent movement of the trigger that would otherwise cause the weapon to fire.

The rest assembly includes a base member and first and second upright members extending from the base member. A position of each of the first and second upright members is independently adjustable with reference to the base member. The shooting rest also includes a support assembly coupled to the rest assembly to move the rest assembly in a first direction and in a second direction. The first and second directions are in a plane generally transverse to a longitudinal axis of the firearm. The shooting rest further includes a base coupled to the support assembly.

Abstract: A fire guidance device for a hand fired weapon is suitable for day and night deployment for large caliber and slow flying ammunition or missiles, such as, for example, 40 mm grenade throwers and anti tank weapons. The fire guidance device also serves to determine and automatically adjust a set-up angle for adjustment of ballistics, and a lateral angle for spin correction. The fire guidance device is attached to the weapon so it can be tilted automatically or manually and twisting is thereby dependent upon a required set-up angle of the weapon so that direct view, by the operator, to the target is preserved. For spin correction, a defined angle in horizontal orientation is adjusted between axes of the fire guidance device and the weapon. Alternatively, the fire guidance device is mounted vertically and a required cant (tilt) is then indicated in a display, followed by tilt adjustment.

Abstract: This invention relates to alternative diesel fuels with improved cold flow properties. The alternative fuel may be a biodiesel which typically comprises fatty acid methyl or ethyi esters; or a diesel fuel blend including diesel fuel derived from a Fischer-Tropsch (FT) reaction and possibly comprising or containing crude-derived diesel fuel and biodiesel. The cold flow properties are improved by adding a higher alcohol component which is not a naturally occurring component of the biodiesel, nor the diesel fuel.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for producing a crude gas containing CO or H2 by gasification of an ash-containing fuel with oxygen-containing gas at temperatures above the fusion temperature of the ash in a gasification reactor and with a connected gas cooling chamber and a tapered connecting channel running from one chamber to the other. The aim of the invention is avoiding known problems and reducing the amount of fly ash and the amount of ungasified fuel, wherein a weak eddy is achieved in the inlet to the subsequent apparatuses in order to avoid deposits there with a very compact device, wherein the risk of solidification of the slag in the outlet is also avoided. The aim is achieved, wherein in the tapered connection channel (5) eddy reducing or eliminating wall surfaces (6) running over only a part of the cross-section of the connection channel are provided.

Abstract: A building structure having a high efficiency solar control system is provided. The building structure may have a window defined by a sheet of glass and a film mounted to its exterior side. There may be a gap between the film and the glass wherein the film, film and gap, or gap provides thermal insulation. The film may reflect solar radiation in the near and mid infrared ranges yet allow high transmission of light in the visible range such that the occupants of the building structure may view his/her surroundings through the window. The film may have a layer of silver which reflects the solar radiation in the near and mid infrared ranges. Since the silver is susceptible to oxidation and turns the silver into a black body which absorbs the near and mid infrared radiation, the film may be designed to slow the rate of oxidation of the silver layer to an acceptable level.

The lifter plate is capable of a relatively strong connection to a vehicle window. The lifter plate has a window pass-through member that passes through a locking aperture in the vehicle window. The window pass-through member has two ends and is supported at both ends against vertical withdrawal of the vehicle window. The lifter plate also has a reduced tendency to bind when in use.

The rigidity of the door panel depends on the pivotal position of the vertical plate relative to a plane defined by the door panel. The door panel provides sufficient flexibility to withstand impacts from objects and vehicles yet also provides sufficient rigidity to insulate a cold environment from a warm environment.

Abstract: The present invention provides a floor panel that affords a seismic isolation effect against large-magnitude quakes. A floor panel comprises a sliding unit that comprises a floor unit member having a lower portion that can come into contact with a base member and an upper portion supported on the lower portion; and a panel member having a structure fixing face that can be fixed to an upper structure, and an abutting face that abuts an upper face of the upper portion of the floor unit member, such that the abutting face is provided so as to be slidable on the upper face. The floor panel also comprises an elastic insert member provided between a wall and a side face of the panel member of the sliding unit.
