Abstract: A rotating heat regenerator is used to recover heat from the syngas at it exits the reactor vessel of a waste or biomass gasifier. In some embodiments, three or more streams are passed through the heat exchanger. One stream is the dirty syngas, which heats the rotating material. A second stream is a cold stream that is heated as it passes through the material. A third stream is a cleaning stream, which serves to remove particulates that are collected on the rotating material as the dirty syngas passes through it. This apparatus can also be used as an auto-heat exchanger, or it can exchange heat between separate flows in the gasifier process. The apparatus can also be used to reduce the heating requirement for the thermal residence chamber (TRC) used downstream from the gasification system.

The sealing member 40 can include weather stripping, brush or another seal element 42 that is extended into sealing contact with a floor 6 or other surface. Multiple door panels 10, 10a including the sealing system can be arranged to form a door panel system 11.

Abstract: In certain example embodiments of this invention, improved seal systems that include flexible seals that are integrally formed (e.g., co-extruded) with other vehicle components, and/or methods of making the same, are provided. In certain example embodiments, some or all sealing system components may be integrated into trim and/or other components of the vehicle such as, for example, more structural elements of the vehicle that generally are required to be present. For instance, in certain example embodiments, the current U-shaped seal that typically is used to receive the glass of a window may be replaced with seal members attached to elements of the overall vehicle construct. Certain example embodiments accomplish this integration, for example, by forming seal members together with the trim components, e.g., as a part of the roll form and/or extruding processes.

Abstract: A reversible sealing mechanism for sealing a bulkhead having a first central aperture defined along a central axis and disposed between first and second compartments includes a cover member having a recess defined therein by a substantially cylindrical sidewall and adapted to cover the first central aperture. A wedge ring having a generally cylindrical body is accommodated by the first and second central apertures and is configured to operatively engage the cover member. A mechanical input is operative to reversibly rotate the wedge ring about the central axis such that a rotation of the wedge ring in a first direction urges the cover member in the axial direction into a sealed position.
