Abstract: A plain journal bearing couples first and second components. A pin passes through the components. A clamping bush surrounds the pin. A clamping member is mounted on the pin and provides a clamping force to urge the clamping bush into clamping engagement with the first component. During normal operation, when the components rotate relative to each other, the second component and the clamping bush rotate relative to each other about a primary slip path, and the clamping bush remains in clamping engagement with the first component. During degraded operation, when the components rotate relative to each other and the coefficient of friction of the primary slip path has increased to overcome the clamping force, the pin and the clamping bush or the pin and the first component rotate relative to each other about a subsidiary slip path.

A shaft rotates which about an axis is attached to an inner portion of a first and second bearing. A patterned disk is attached to the shaft. A housing is attached to an outer portion of the first and second bearing. A read head is attached to the housing in proximity to the patterned disk which produces an electrical signal in response to an angle of rotation. The patterned disk and the first arm segment supported for rotation about the axis by only the first and second bearing. A circuit receives the electrical signal and provides an angle and data corresponding to a position of the probe.

Abstract: A testing device for testing whether planeness of top and bottom surfaces of an object is within an allowable range includes a rack, a motion mechanism, a transmission mechanism, a control mechanism, a testing mechanism, and a display. The motion mechanism is slidably connected to the rack and supporting the object. The transmission mechanism is fastened to the rack and the motion mechanism. The testing mechanism includes two separated rows of sensors. The object extends through the testing mechanism, between the rows of sensors. The sensors above the object measure distances between the sensors and corresponding dots of a top surface of the object. The sensors below the object measure distances between the sensors and corresponding dots of a bottom surface of the object. The sensors send signals about the distances to the control mechanism.

Abstract: Infrared air float bar for use in floating and drying a continuous planar web of a material in a dryer. Direct radiated or reflected infrared electromagnetic energy from an infrared light source in a removable channel assembly accelerates drying, or evaporation of solvents, or curing of web material passing in proximity to the bar, either by infrared electromagnetic energy, or in combination with convention airflow. The infrared source is cooled by pressurized air passing through an interior portion of the removable air bar channel assembly, and the air is further conducted into fluid contact with the web in an air gap between the emitter and web to promote convective heat transfer and to contribute to the air pressure field supporting web flotation. The removable channel assembly is configured for replacement of the infrared emitter and to allow the setting of the pressurized cooling air flow to the optimum level.

Abstract: The invention provides, in some aspects, apparatus and methods for a rotating airflow directing attachment for a barrel of a hair dryer. The attachment includes a tubular adapter (or “attachment body”) having an inlet opening and an outlet opening, wherein the inlet opening is adapted to be removably coupled to the barrel of the hair dryer. A blade is rotatably coupled to the tubular adapter, and a nozzle is disposed adjacent to the outlet opening of the tubular adapter and adapted to rotate with the blade. The nozzle has an opening disposed at an acute angle relative to the outlet opening of the tubular adapter.

Abstract: Disclosed is a drying device for a hollow fiber membrane, including: a tubular drying member that is formed with an opening portion through which a hollow fiber membrane is input and output at at least one end thereof in a length direction, the hollow fiber membrane passing inside the tubular drying member while forming a gap between the hollow fiber membrane and an inner circumferential surface of the tubular drying member; and a gas supply unit that is formed on a side surface of the tubular drying member and supplies a drying gas into the tubular drying member. Thus, it is possible to dry the hollow fiber membrane in a short time at a low cost without the necessity of large equipment.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a drying device for drying a glass substrate with alignment liquid sprayed thereon. The drying device includes a container, a belt conveying mechanism, and an infra-red heater. The belt conveying mechanism is disposed inside the container for conveying the glass substrate. The belt conveying mechanism includes a conveyer for supporting the glass substrate. The infra-red heater is disposed on an inner surface of the container and corresponding to an external surface of the conveyer contacting the glass substrate. The present disclosure further provides a conveying apparatus with the drying device. With the drying device and the conveying apparatus of the present disclosure, the glass substrate is conveyed by the conveyer and is heated evenly. Thus, a situation where the glass substrate is unevenly heated and a thickness of the alignment film become non-uniform can be avoided somewhat.

Another example impact-attenuation member includes a shear resistant member having a continuous wall that bulges outward on opposing sides when in an uncompressed base orientation. The shear resistant members may be structured and arranged to allow bending or compression against impact forces in one direction (e.g., when landing a step or a jump), but remain highly stable against shear or lateral forces in another direction (e.g., in a side-to-side direction). Such impact-attenuation members may be used in footwear products, including in athletic footwear.
