Abstract: Chilled water is produced by an evaporative cooling process. The chilled water is then circulated through a liquid-air heat exchanger to produce a primary air supply of cool-dry air wherein no water is introduced into the cool dry air stream. The primary air supply can be used to cool a space, such as an office, where low humidly is desirable. Additionally, the cool, wet air which is a byproduct of the water-cooling phase can be used as a secondary air supply. The secondary air supply can be used to cool a space where higher humidity is tolerated, such as a warehouse, a garage, a barn, etc. The indirect evaporative cooling system can also be used in conjunction with an air conditioning system to reduce operating costs and increase efficiency.

Abstract: A refrigerant discharge capacity of a high-pressure side compression mechanism and a refrigerant discharge capacity of a low-pressure side compression mechanism can be independently controlled, in a two-stage pressurizing refrigeration cycle device. The refrigerant discharge capacity of the low-pressure side compression mechanism is determined based on an outside air temperature, an air temperature at the evaporator, and a preset temperature. Furthermore, the refrigerant discharge capacity of the high-pressure side compression mechanism is determined based on the determined refrigerant discharge capacity of the low-pressure side compression mechanism such that an effective capacity ratio is not less than 1 nor more than 3. Therefore, in the two-stage pressurizing refrigeration cycle device, COP can be improved with a simple structure and control.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating beneficial residual stresses in a material by impacting the surface of the material with particles that are softer than the material to be peened (“target material”). Shock waves emanate through the target material from the soft particle impacts to generate residual stresses without significantly deforming the surface of the target material. A high pressure liquid is accelerated through a peening nozzle to generate a high-speed liquid jet that is used to accelerate the soft particles that impact the surface of the target material.

Abstract: A method of production of pressed sheet parts with integrated preparation of blanks of non-uniform thickness includes the steps of heating a steel sheet blank in heating equipment to the austenite region of the steel of the sheet steel blank in question, then forming the blank into a flat semi-finished product of non-uniform thickness in forming equipment, then immediately thereafter deep drawing the semi-finished product in deep drawing equipment into a final spatially shaped part. The method may further include cooling down the final spatially shaped part either during the drawing step or immediately after the deep drawing step in a manner which causes the final spatially shaped part to develop hardening microstructure, which imparts high strength to the final shaped part with non-uniform wall thickness.

Abstract: A piston prover apparatus, method and system for accurately measuring the flow rate of a fluid by the measurement of the position of an internal piston. The piston can be integrated with a poppet valve arrangement located within a cylinder in order to permit fluid (e.g., cryogenic fluid) to pass through an orifice passage when the piston is drawn to an upstream position prior to proving the flow. An actuator in association with a motor and an encoder can be located inside the cylinder. The motor drives the piston to the upstream position of the cylinder when a proving run is initiated. Once the piston is released for the proving run, the initial and final positions of the piston can be accurately measured along with the transit time.
