Abstract: An apparatus is provided, which includes a dust detector, a voltage source, and a controller. The dust detector includes two opposing surfaces and a conductive dust sensor. The two opposing surfaces are disposed in spaced, opposing relation to allow for the passage of airflow between the surfaces, and the conductive dust sensor is disposed at a surface of the two opposing surfaces. The voltage source is configured and controlled to establish an electrostatic field at least partially between the two opposing surfaces to facilitate directing conductive particles in the airflow passing between the two opposing surfaces towards the dust sensor. The controller monitors for a leakage current within the conductive dust sensor and determines whether the leakage current exceeds a predetermined trigger level indicative of the presence of conductive dust, and if so, automatically indicates a conductive dust warning.

Abstract: A selection unit switches between a phase ?p and a phase ?n different from the phase ?p substantially by 180 degrees, and outputs one of them in synchronization with a carrier signal. A voltage-command generation unit generates and outputs three-phase voltage command values Vu*, Vv* and Vw* based on the phase outputted by the selection unit. A PWM-signal generation unit generates three-phase voltage command values Vu*?, Vv*? and Vw*? by correcting the three-phase voltage command values Vu*, Vv* and Vw* outputted by the voltage-command generation unit according to a predetermined method, and generates six drive signals corresponding to switching elements of the inverter based on the three-phase voltage command values Vu*?, Vv*? and Vw*? and the carrier signal. The PWM-signal generation unit outputs the generated drive signals to the corresponding switching elements of the three-phase inverter, to cause the inverter to generate a high-frequency AC voltage.

Abstract: The invention relates to a gripping head for grasping devices for manipulating a long workpiece in a horizontal arrangement. A gripping head with two clamping jaws which can be adjusted independently of one another can be used. In addition, a device for feeding long workpieces into a processing machine, and discharging them therefrom is proposed. At least one of the grasping devices may have a gripping head for gripping in a frictionally locking fashion one end of the workpiece which is conveyed here by the horizontal conveying means, and drive means for pulling the workpiece to be straightened into the processing section and for pushing the straightened workpiece out onto the at least one horizontal conveying means by means of the gripping head.

Abstract: A retractable stock guide has a stationary guide rail on which a retractable guide cap is operably supported. The guide rail and cap have two through holes at opposite ends through which two mounting studs extend to attach the stock guide to an associated die member. The holes in the guide cap are ovate, and the heads of the mounting studs are tapered, whereby tightening of the mounting stud shifts the guide cap relative to the guide rail from an aligned, retracted load/unload condition, to an inwardly protruding, extended run condition, wherein the stock strip is slidingly captured between two like stock guides and the mounting surface of the die. Two ball bearing guides can be substituted for the stationary guide rail.

Abstract: Servo hemming press includes a direct drive system powered with a centrally located common planetary gear servo drive. A pair of connecting rods can actuate a slide vertically up and down to close the hemming tools and can perform the desired hemming operation. A planetary gear box preferably with dual output shafts is directly coupled to the crank shafts through couplings. The bottom end of the connecting rod can be connected to a pivot pin block that is secured to the base of the press. A spring-type overload protector can be incorporated between the base and the pivot pin block to protect the press from possible overloading beyond the rated tonnage capacity. The desired torque to deliver the rated tonnage to perform the hemming operation is delivered directly by a servo motor connected to the planetary gear box, thereby eliminating a flywheel and clutch of earlier systems.

Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for determining the inter-fiber frictional coefficient of staple fibers. The apparatus comprises a pair of clamps, one fixed and the other mobile wherein, each clamp receives an end portion of a sliver therewithin. The apparatus further comprises a pair of predetermined weights, each mounted over a clamp in order to exert normal force on either end of the sliver whereby the movement of the sliver within the clamps is resisted as the mobile clamp is moves away from the fixed clamp until the sliver is severed off, a force sensor for sensing the tensile force exerted by the sliver, and a means for computing the inter-fiber frictional coefficient, which is a function of the normal force and the amount of tensile force exerted by the sliver which overcomes the inter-fiber frictional force of the sliver.
