Abstract: A custom-shaped wireless fence system is provided that contains one or more dogs in a user-defined containment area without the need for a physical fence or underground wire. The system, which is easy to set up and use, includes at least three base units and at least one collar and, preferably, a remote controller. A virtual fence is defined around the containment area, as well as around optional exclusion zones within the containment area, during system set up through communication between the base units and a trackable device as the user walks around the desired border. Visualization software enables the user to verify that the location of the fence is as desired and that the system is operating properly using a computing device having a display screen. In use, the system employs improved filtering of consecutive distance measurement values taken between the base units and the collar to discount errant measurement values in terms of their contribution to the current calculation of the dog's location.

Abstract: The present invention refers to a new composite material for production of beehive for apiculture use, and its manufacturing process. This composite material is made of cork and/or ligneous material, polymers, fire retardant and/or UV protector. The percentage of polymer in the composite varies between 10% and 75% and the blend of the granulated cork with the ligneous material between 25% and 90%. The material to be used must have a particle size which permit its use in extrusion and injection production lines, because the molding of the beehives is made through one of these processes. The beehive is composed by stand (A), sidewalls (H), front and rear walls (I), inner cover (E) and outer cover (F), and can be assembled in three different ways: traditional, in ramp and in step.

Abstract: A transgenic mouse expressing the human gene for PYRIN domain-only protein 2 (POP2). POP2, when expressed in the transgenic mouse model, broadly dampens inflammatory cytokine production, in part through restricting the activation of both Nlrp3 and Aim2 inflammasomes. POP2 mice exhibit reduced susceptibility to LPS- and bacteria-induced septic shock. Further, POP2 mice are less susceptible to the fatal, acute inflammatory pneumonia caused by pulmonary infection with F. tularensis LVS and F. novicida, which are highly pathogenic to mice, but non-pathogenic to humans.

When a trap is activated by a rodent trigger it changes from a set state to a kill alert state and initiates a killing cycle. The trap waits a first time period and then sends a notification signal to the base station of trap activation which the base station forwards to the cloud server. The cloud server waits a second predetermined time period before sending a pushed notification to a remote user of the trap's kill alert state. If the trap rearms prior to expiration of the second time period, it alerts the base station which notifies the cloud server. The cloud server updates trap status to the set state and does not send a notification to the user.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide antimicrobial agents that do not contribute to the emergence of drug-resistant microorganisms, that present less side effects, and that can be combined with other medications while causing less adverse effects. The present invention provides antimicrobial agents containing at least one member selected from the group consisting of: at least one hydrogen isotope selected from the group consisting of hydrogen atom (H); 1H, 2H, 3H, 4H, 5H, 6H and 7H; hydrogen molecule (H2); a metal hydride; hydrogen ion (H+); hydride ion (H?); and atomic hydrogen. The antimicrobial agents of the present invention exhibit their antimicrobial action through the action of hydrogen, so they are less likely to induce emergence of drug-resistant microorganisms.

Abstract: The invention provides a synthetic combination of a crop and at least one fungal endophyte, wherein the crop is a host plant of the endophyte. Provided are also methods and compositions for producing such synthetic combinations. The endophyte reproduces and enhances the agronomic characteristics of the crop. Methods for inoculating the host plant with the endophyte, for propagating the host-endophyte combination, and for detecting the presence of the endophyte and of its metabolites within a host plant are also described.

Abstract: A baking apparatus produces endless strips of preferably liquid baking compounds on a baking surface carrier circulating in a machine frame, being heated at least in sections and transporting at least one endless baking surface through at least one baking zone disposed in a stationary manner in the machine frame. The baking zone contains a heating apparatus and extends from a baking compound application device as far as a strip removal apparatus. A rotatably mounted and driven hubless drum is provided as the circulating heated baking surface carrier. A follower roller is disposed pivotably about a steering axle and rolls on a rolling surface of the drum in a contact region. A tracking distance is provided between a point of intersection of the steering axle with the rolling surface and the contact region.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition comprising white kidney bean extract Fabenol and trehalose, and optionally water-soluble dietary fiber, for combing with food materials, such as butter, flour and egg to manufacture baked products in the high temperature baking process, for example at 120 to 200° C. The composition of present invention remains the inhibitory activity on ?-amylase under the baking condition of high temperature, which will offer a lowered degradation rate of starch in the baked products to make the baked food meeting the taste without increasing burden to consumers.

Abstract: System and method for processing raw shrimp. A head-on shell-on shrimp is first back-slit to expose the vein. Next, the head and some or all of the vein is removed in a hydraulic deheader. The headless, back-slit shrimp is then peeled in a roller-type peeling machine to remove the shell and any residual vein and provide high-quality, peeled and deveined shrimp meat.

Abstract: A method for controlling microbiological contamination in a heat exchanger while using the heat exchanger to process a food product. The method includes: while processing the food product in the heat exchanger, adding a microbiological control agent to the food product at a first location; and neutralizing at least partially the microbiological control agent by adding a neutralizing agent to the food product at a second location, the second location being downstream from the first location, at least part of the heat exchanger being between the first and second locations, the neutralizing agent being operative for reducing a chemical reactivity of the microbiological control agent in the food product. The microbiological control agent controls the microbiological contamination in the heat exchanger while the food product is processed. In some embodiments, the food product is a milk product.
