  • Publication number: 20100136243
Abstract: An apparatus is used to enhance the standing-surfaces of platform-components of an escalator or a moving walkway which moves in a continuous loop. The apparatus is maintained in a constant position relative to the moving parts of the escalator or walkway such that, while in that constant position, all the standing-surfaces continually pass under the apparatus as a result of the continuous loop of the escalator. When the escalator is in operation, an applicator-means of the apparatus applies a flowable enhancement-material, in situ, to the standing-surfaces of the moving platform-components. The material solidifies thereon to enhance the surface characteristics of the standing-surfaces of the escalator, or moving walkway as the case may be.

A pair of pneumatically driven diaphragm pumps serve as supply pump and return pump between the doctor blade chamber and a coating reservoir A PLC controls the pulse rate of pneumatic pressure to the pumps to control the rate of flow of the coating material into, and out of the doctor blade chamber. Abstract: A tire dressing applicator comprises a support shaft mounted between the ends of a bracket and a plurality of tire dressing applicator foam rollers mounted on the shaft for rotation both with the shaft and in unison with one another and, as necessary when contacting a tire sidewall, relative to the shalt itself to prevent and/or reduce unnecessary roller wear. A drizzle-type system of dressing dispensers pipes drizzles dressing onto the outside surfaces of the rollers and a felt flap spreads the dressing and prevents waste which is characteristic of spray type systems. A quick-release mechanism associated with one end of the roller shaft where it is connected to the bracket permits the shaft to be released for the purpose of replacing worn rollers. Individual rollers are constructed using hard plastic cages which are adhesively bonded in toroidal foam volumes to prevent lateral scrunching or distortion of rollers during use.

  • Patent number: 7588639
Abstract: A liquid applying apparatus can prevent an applying liquid from evaporating while an applying operation is stopped and can reliably prevent the liquid from leaking even when, for example, the posture of the apparatus is tilted. An abutting member of a holding member is abutted, under an urging force of a spring, against an applying surface of an applying roller. Thus, a liquid holding space is formed between the applying roller and a holding member to hold the applying liquid. The abutting member is annularly formed of a single member. The applying roller rotates to cause the applying liquid held in the holding space to adhere to an outer peripheral surface of the applying roller. The applying liquid is then applied to the applying medium.

Abstract: The present invention includes a device and a method of applying a coating to a web. The preferred device comprises a feed nozzle coupled to a stiffener coupled to a spring coupled to a position/force adjuster. The feed nozzle comprises a fluid reservoir, a feed pipe, a metering surface, end seals and a back seal. The stiffener spring, as the frame deflects and polymer covered rolls deform, permits the rotation of the feed nozzle so a proper geometry is maintained, permitting increased control and a wider film thickness control range for a specific nozzle shape. This device permits greater film thickness control, ability to process at much higher speeds than currently achievable, and a wider range of film thickness. This device permits coatings to be applied at much wider ranges of rheological characteristics. Coatings can be applied at higher percent solids with improved characteristics. Multiple feed nozzles provide rapid product changeover for greater equipment utilization and higher productivity.
