  • Patent number: 7855150
Abstract: A method and a plasma system are provided for anisotropically etching structures into a substrate positioned in an etching chamber, e.g., structures defined using an etching mask in a silicon substrate, using a plasma. For this purpose, the etching chamber is supplied at least intermittently with an etching gas and at least intermittently with a passivation gas, the passivation gas being supplied to the etching chamber in cycles having a time period between 0.05 second and 1 second. In the plasma system, in addition to a plasma source, via which the plasma acting on the substrate may be produced, an arrangement is provided for at least temporary supply of the etching gas and at least temporary supply of the passivation gas to the etching chamber, which arrangement is designed in such a way that the passivation gas may be supplied to the etching chamber in cycles having a time period between 0.05 second and 1 second.

  • Patent number: 6004627
Abstract: An apparatus for applying a coating to the head-shank junction of externally threaded fasteners in an automated fashion. The fasteners are positioned, head down, on rotating part holders positioned about the periphery of a rotating disc. The part holders may be magnetic or other forms, and are adapted to maintain the fasteners in a generally fixed position during their movement. The fasteners are pre-heated at a heating station during their rotational movement on the disc. A dispenser is then used to apply the coating to the articles, in timed sequence to the movement of the articles. In this fashion, a coating can be applied to selected portions of the entire periphery of the head-shank junction. A method for applying a coating to the head-shank junction of externally threaded fasteners in an automated fashion also forms part of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 5932012
Abstract: A paste applicator for drawing a paste film in a desired pattern on a substrate, including a table for detachably supporting a substrate, a paste reservoir tube to be filled with a paste, and a nozzle communicating with the paste reservoir and having a paste discharging port opposing to an upper surface of the substrate mounted on the table. A device is supplied for changing the relative positional relationship between the nozzle and the substrate mounted on the table. The paste is applied onto the substrate to form a desired pattern of the paste. A measuring device measures a position of a paste discharging port of a nozzle exchanged together with the paste reservoir tube by using a paste pattern formed by applying the paste onto the substrate held on the table using the exchanged nozzle. The center of the paste pattern nearly agrees with the center of the paste discharging port.

  • Patent number: 5334249
Abstract: An easy to use and inexpensive programmable electronic control system is provided for control of glue guns to spot glue on controllable positions on a carton blank, being conveyed past a glue station. The controls are synchronously related to the position of a workpiece on a conveyor platform by means of a rotary shaft in the conveyor mechanism to which a rotating timing wheel is coupled for precisely and synchronously identifying positions along the length of the workpiece. One or more solenoid actuated glue guns, may be positioned in preselected lanes across the width of the workpiece. By means of markers rotated by the timing wheel and an optical sensor coupled to a position adjacent the moving marker controls the glue dispensers. By means of a small diameter fiber link between the optical sensor and the marker, precise timing and control of glue dot positions is achieved for high fidelity and high speed response.

  • Patent number: 4919074
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for coating adhesive for mounting parts onto a printed substrate in which an adhesive coating nozzle is arranged in correspondence to the printed substrate placed on an X-Y table controlled to be moved in an X-Y direction, and said coating nozzle is operated to coat the adhesive within an adhesive storage tank in position on each of the printed substrates, at which a waste coating is carried out for said coating nozzle before the latter perform the coating operation with respect to the printed substrate, whereby even if the adhesive trickles from the end of the nozzle to bring forth the liquid-drip state, the adhesive in the liquid-drip state is eliminated by the waste coating of the coating nozzle to prevent the adhesive in the amount more than as needed from being coated on the printed substrate, thus always maintaining a stable amount of coating thereby positively preventing occurrence of irregularities in quantity.
