The apparatus includes a supply unit and an applicator brush interconnected by tubing. The supply unit has a plastic supply container, a reciprocating piston and rod within a bore thereof, and an electric motor that moves the piston rod using reduction gearing. A footswitch and rheostat control the direction and speed of the motor by interconnection with its power supply. The piston extrudes hair relaxant from the supply container, through the tubing, through a passageway within the brush, and out openings in the head of the brush at the base of bristles. The brush has a handgrip with a thumbrest, a pointed tip for parting hair, and a longitudinal ridge for smoothing the applied relaxant. A cap on the supply container may be removed for filling and cleaning the container, and a replacement cap and plug prevent dripping of the hair relaxant when the tubing is separated from the supply container.

A body is provided having generally a hollow chamber therein to receive an aerosol container. An opening in a wall of the chamber permits a dispensing valve of the aerosol container residing therein to dispense the contents of the container therethrough. A comb is secured to an end of the body and extends outwardly therefrom, while at the opposite end, hair lifters, which are a plurality of spaced apart elongated members, are optionally provided. A cap is generally provided adjacent one end of the hollow body and acts as a closure for the hollow chamber that receives the aerosol container. The aerosol container is actuated by a linear moving trigger secured to the body on the opposite side of the opening.

The organization is arranged for selective use in combination with a conduit rod, including a matrix of apertures therethrough to permit selective fluid flow of various deodorizers and pesticides relative to a pet animal, such as a dog.

Abstract: An apparatus for a hair dye applicator is provided which includes a hollow tubular housing with screw-threadably removable caps on both longitudinal ends thereof. One of the caps includes a centrally located outlet through which a hollow stem of an integrally formed nozzle unit is fitted. A manually actuable piston is provided within the tubular housing and includes an actuator member longitudinally slidable along the length of and external to the tubular housing. To ensure that the piston does not axially rotate within the tubular housing during a longitudinal sliding motion thereof, a protruding track is longitudinally provided on the inner wall of the tubular housing and mates with a corresponding recess of the piston. A liner such as a disposable plastic bag is provided within the tubular housing above the piston for receiving a hair dispensable product therein. The screw-threaded end caps confine the contents of the applicator during use thereof.

The applicator comprises a cylindrical portion, the front face of which is open, and a closure piece for the open front face. Solid and hollow pins extend axially from a front wall of the cylindrical portion. The hollow pins communicate with the cylinder cavity. The closure piece and the cylindrical portion are designed so that the closure piece delimits a given volume in the cylindrical portion. The closure piece has a central filling opening with a non-return or one-way valve disposed therein.

Abstract: A liquid painting instrument according to the present invention includes a main shaft oval-shaped in cross-section, a cap of the same configuration and an elastically deformable O-ring. The O-ring is put on the front end outer periphery of the main shaft such that it may be securely fastened to the inner face of the cap by being elastically deformed following both the configurations of the main shaft and the cap. A front end shaft attached to the main shaft incorporates a plurality of paint cores and comb teeth that are mounted along a major axis of the front end shaft and parallel to each other.

Abstract: A hair curling apparatus includes an adapter sleeve mounted to the end of the hot air delivery conduit of a hand-held hair dryer. A hot air delivery tube extends through the adapter sleeve and terminates in an apertured portion projecting forwardly of the sleeve. Rotatably mounted on the projecting portion is a circumferentially apertured and bristled hollow hair curling sleeve for effecting hair curling procedures. The hair curling sleeve includes a plurality of vanes in the interior thereof which react with the directed hot air flow through the apertured portion of the delivery tube to impart rotation to the hair curling sleeve. The adapter sleeve includes a manually operable valve for controlling the air flow through the delivery tube to the curling sleeve.

Abstract: A hand-held animal grooming tool is configured as a circular hoop-formed curry comb having a sealing cap sealing off the edge of the hoop opposite the comb serrations, and further including a handle attached to the hoop, the handle having an axial passage therethrough communicating with the interior of the hoop. The handle is adapted at its outer end for connection to a flexible conduit fed by a hot air blower so that with the curry comb in use against the body of the animal the open face is effectively sealed by the animal's body, and warm air is blown along the serrations to dry the animal during the combing operation. Alternative versions of the instrument include hollow-chamber brushes having similar handles and having a plurality of air passages for directing heated air flowing into the handle and out these passages generally along the bristle directions.

Abstract: An outlet nozzle adapted to be fixed to a substantially cylindrical hair conditioning bottle for dispensing fluid on a lock of hair comprises a hollow tubular member and a dispensing tip fluidly connected at one end of the tubular member opposite the bottle. The tubular member has two continuous longitudinal portions angularly disposed relative to each other. One of the portions is adapted to extend at an angle away from the longitudinal axis of the bottle while the other portion extends towards the axis at an angle therewith and up to a location adjacent the axis. The dispensing tip comprises a pair of flat tooth-like projections spacedly facing each other and extending from the other portion substantially in the same direction as the latter to define an archway adapted to the slidable through the hair to define the lock of hair. The other portion is provided with an aperture between the projections at the bottom of the archway for allowing the dispensing of the fluid from the bottle.

Abstract: A dispenser for applying a treatment solution to selected strands of hair includes a reservoir and a dispensing nozzle. The nozzle is an elongate, preferably conical member, having one or more slots extending from and dividing the tip into tines. The side walls of the slot converge inwardly from one side of the nozzle, a through bore extends from the base of the slot to the base of the nozzle, and at least one of the tines is shorter than the other. The reservoir may be a squeezable bottle or, in the preferred embodiment, an open top container having a handle projecting from one side with a lever arm pivotally connected to the outer end of the arm and mounting a plate-like piston slidably received in the container.

Abstract: There is provided a hair treatment solution applicator adapted to be attached to the mouth of a squeeze bottle containing the hair treatment solution by an attachment element having a dispensing valve therein. An applicator portion, in the form of a substantially flat or planar element lying in the plane of the squeeze bottle axis, is secured to the attachment element and is provided with a comb-like distributor element at its side remote from the attachment element. The planar applicator element is provided with a slot at the side which includes the distributor element which communicates with the dispensing valve. Substantially adjacent the comb-like distributor element, there is arranged an elongated spike-like, hair-sectioning pick extending perpendicular to the axis of the squeeze bottle in the plane defined by the applicator portion.

Abstract: A shampooing apparatus or device that is a portable, lightweight, and easily operated for providing automatic shampooing and/or conditioning. The apparatus comprises a body having a dispensing head and adapted to contain at least one but preferably two capsules one of which may contain a shampoo concentrate and the other a conditioner. The body receives these capsules and also receives liquid under pressure from a source of the liquid. In the two capsule version there are separate output ports that couple to a common entry port into a cylindrical cavity of the dispensing head. The dispensing head is of pulsating type including a rotor. In an alternate embodiment in place of the capsules are provided externally disposed containers for the conditioner and shampoo.

Abstract: A hollow housing has a handle for connecting the housing to a suction device. The housing has a suction chamber and a comb, and further may include second and third chambers. A distributor tube is disposed in the third chamber for spraying product through the second chamber that is open in the direction of the comb for spraying the treating product toward the comb. One of the ends of the distributor tube is connected to a container of treating product under pressure which can be manually actuated by the user.

Abstract: An attachment for a hair dryer performs the function of providing a lower velocity diffused air flow with apparatus to separate and lift the hair and allow the entire hair strand, from root to end, to be dried at the same time. The attachment includes a base member shaped to expand and turn a column of air from a conventional blow dryer by, for instance, 45 degrees. A face plate holds a diffuser pad in position. Extending from the face plate away from the base are a plurality of hair lifters, each of which lift a small amount of hair, so as to permit the entire hair, from root to end, to receive air and be dried at the same time. The face plate includes a plurality of holes therethrough to permit air flow and each hair lifter includes a post extending upward from the edge of the hole and an extension from the top of the post into the area above the corresponding hole. This structure allows the face plate to be fabricated by injection molding.

Abstract: This comb is designed to apply hair dye or perfume to one's hair, and the dye or perfume is saturated into a common pipe cleaner that is received in a cylinder rotatively received in the main body of the comb. The dye or perfume is dispensed between the teeth of the comb and the cylinder containing the pipe cleaner, and is rotated to shut off any further flow of dye or perfume.

Abstract: An appliance for partially dyeing the hair consists of a comb-like part (1), a handle part (2) connected thereto and a dye applicator device (3). In order to give the appliance a simple construction and to conform it so that it operates without faults and is particularly easy to use, the dye applicator device is constructed as a brush device (4) which is movable relative to the comb part (1) between a dye collecting position, in which the bristles (6) point away from the comb part (1), and a dye dispensing position, in which the bristles (6) are in contact with the comb teeth (15). The brush device (4) is pivotable about an axis oriented approximately parallel to the comb part (1), and can be actuated by use of a pivot lever (13).

Abstract: An apparatus for drying hair from the inside out is comprised of a supply tube adapted for connection to a source of air such as a portable electric hair dryer. A plurality of feeder tubes are in communication with the supply tube. A plurality of fingers are in communication with each feeder tube with each finger having a distal end and a length sufficient for supporting the plurality of feeder tubes at locations which for the most part are removed from the hair and avoid a flattening thereof. The fingers also include a plurality of openings for permitting air from the source to dry the hair from the inside out. Adjustable belts are connected to the feeder tubes by fasteners cooperating with the feeder tubes and belts enabling the feeder tubes to be selectively disposed in a predetermined spaced relationship.

Abstract: A hair-care tool is provided and consists of a housing having a graspable handle and a barrel. The barrel having a mounting guide at an outlet at one end thereof and an attachment having a built-in heating element and electrical contacts. End of the attachment mates within the mounting guide in the barrel forming an electrical contact with a heat switch so that the heat switch can control the heating element within the attachment.

Groups of a plurality of teeth extend generally perpendicular to the frame member and are generally spaced from each other creating gaps therebetween. In the preferred embodiments of the present invention, trough shaped members are formed in the frame member in the gaps for separating and capturing strands of hair desired to be treated, for receiving and forming pools of hair treatment solution, and for allowing hair to be pulled through the pools of hair treatment solution. In one of the preferred embodiments of the present invention, the comb further includes a tooth formed in each of the gaps which includes a trough continuation member for enhancing the function of the troughs formed in the frame member.

Abstract: A hair dye applicating apparatus has a handle part formed as a hair dye supply container, a combination part connected with the supply container, a hair separating tip arranged on the combination part in spaced relationship with the supply container, a comb member having a plurality of tines and arranged on the combination part adjacent the supply container, a hair dye application part including a displaceable brush member having a plurality of bristle bundles, and an elastic nozzle member located inside the brush member so as to be surrounded by the bristle bundles and to form a hair dye outlet opening.

The open end is adapted for releasable, rotatable engagement with a nozzle of a hair blower. A comb is affixed to the pouch by a strap which secures the pouch to the nozzle adjacent the pouch open end.

The liquid is retained in the comb in a porous wick-like material and the liquid dispensing teeth are a porous wick-like material so that capillary action ensures a continuous, regulated flow of liquid regardless of the orientation of the comb.

Abstract: An apparatus for applying color to hair includes a color-applying comb having several teeth which are substantially triangularly shaped in a top view, are arranged on a comb back, are spaced by relatively large distances, and are tapered toward their tips. The gaps which lie between the teeth are substantially triangularly shaped in a top view and taper toward the comb back. Each tooth has in its enlarged part and in the vicinity of the comb back a color chamber, and has a narrow slot which extends perpendicular to the comb back from the tooth tip into the color chamber.

Abstract: A hairbrush and aerosol spray assembly is provided which enables efficient use of both the brush and the hair spray with one hand, while also enabling easy removal and replacement of the spray can. The brush includes a hollow generally cylindrical core with bristles extending radially outwardly therefrom. The core is attached to a base which in turn is detachably mounted to the aerosol spray can. A nozzle assembly including a plurality of nozzles in communication with one another is centrally and removably disposed within the cylindrical core and in communication with the nozzle of the aerosol spray can. The spray can be activated by a trigger lever disposed adjacent to the base of the brush or by an extension of the nozzle assembly which protrudes beyond the cylindrical core of the brush.

Abstract: The permanent wave curling device of this invention comprises a vapor and heat generating hair curling iron including a handle, a mandrel and a wave solution reservoir threadably attached to the mandrel at an end opposite the handle. The handle encloses electrical circuitry necessary to control the electrical current applied to an electric heating element positioned within the mandrel. The heating element is positioned within the mandrel and receives wave solution from a rotatable rod and wick assembly that transports wave solution from the reservoir. The hair to be curled is wound about the mandrel and anchored thereto by a retaining clamp. Heat from the heating element is conducted through the mandrel to the hair in a conventional manner. The rod and wick assembly is normally spaced from the heating element and transports the wave solution from the reservoir by capillary action into the interior of the mandrel.

Abstract: A hair-tinting implement comprises a container containing a tinting medium, and a workhead provided with two tinting-medium outlets. The container is generally cylindrical, and is made of resiliently-deformable plastics material. The workhead is attached to one end of the container, and is provided with a pair of internal ducts which connect the interior of the container to the outlets. The other end of the container is closed off by a screw cap. An air-intake valve is provided in the screw cap, the air-intake valve being such as to open when the pressure in the container is less than that outside the container. The air-intake valve is constituted by a plurality of valve openings passing through the screw cap, a valve seat formed on the interior surface of the screw cap, and a resiliently-deformable valve closure member which overlies the valve seat and the valve openings.

Abstract: An applicator for applying hair treatment preparations to a person's hair and for rinsing the preparation from the hair. The applicator is a compact device which includes a remotely located heater/blower unit coupled to a hand-held applicator assembly. The applicator assembly includes a chamber for receipt of a viscous hair treatment preparation and a plurality of apertured projections which communicate with the chamber. A stream of heated air is provided into the chamber, to melt the preparation. The melted preparation flows from the chamber, through the apertures and onto the person's hair. The projections function as comb teeth to spread the preparation through the hair. The applicator assembly can be connected to a water tap, for water to flow through the apertures of the applicator assembly so the preparation may simultaneously be rinsed and combed from a person's hair. The preferred embodiment of the invention includes a removable scoop and capsule member.

Abstract: Applicator device for cosmetic preparations, having a closed, substantially cylindrical casing in which a piston dividing the casing into two variable-size chambers sealed from one another is displaceably disposed, the one variable-size chamber being fillable with the cosmetic preparation and being combined with a removable applicator provided with a passage for the preparation, by means of which the cosmetic preparation can be applied to the body part being treated, in quantities controllable by means of a self-closing valve. The variable-size chamber opposite the preparation reservoir is provided with a connection for bringing in a compressed gas which seeks to displace the piston to reduce the preparation reservoir, and in the passage connecting the preparation reservoir chamber to the applicator there is disposed the self-closing valve preventing escape of the preparation when the applicator is removed.

Abstract: A pet brush has a L-shaped case with a partially hollow interior for housing a container of grooming solution, the container having a spray attachment for spraying the grooming solution into a chamber which provides means for equally distributing the solution across the full bristle pattern of a brush attached to an angled extension of the brush case. The brush bristles have inner ends which are mounted in the case and which extend into the chamber, the inner ends being suitably mounted to provide means for the flow of solution out of the chamber and onto the individual strands of bristles. A removable end cap is provided for removing and replacing the container of grooming solution and the case has an external operator extending into the interior for operating push button types of spray attachments. A wire slicker brush or any other suitable brush may be used and interchanged by snaps or slide structure as is known in the art.

Abstract: An electric hair singer is provided for removing split ends from hair and includes a housing having a passageway formed therein with a comb element and heating element disposed at one end of the passageway. At the other end of the passageway a fan motor is provided for producing a vacuum effect in the passageway to draw the split ends of hair through the comb element and against the heating element to be singed. In addition, means are provided for adjusting the vacuum effect within the passageway. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the hair singer is combined with a hair dryer, with the hair singeing elements being disposed at one end of the passageway and the heating coil for the hair dryer disposed adjacent the other end of the passageway. In this manner, the fan motor which produces the vacuum effect for the hair singer also operates to blow air through the passageway of the hair dryer.

Abstract: An appliance or device for treating hair includes a tubular barrel containing a generator for heat and vapor and a plurality of hair winding mandrels which are slidably mounted over the tubular barrel. The mandrels have different external sizes and configurations, but have interior structures which, though they may differ, allow each mandrel to be used with the same tubular barrel. A mandrel for straightening strands of hair when moved relative to the strands and for waving strands of hair when held stationary relative to the strands is provided. The mandrel is adapted to be removably associated with the tubular barrel. In the preferred embodiment, the mandrel is comprised of a heat-treating surface having a sinusoidal configuration. Apertures through the surface convey vapor from the vapor generator in the tubular barrel to the strands of hair engaged therewith.

Abstract: A dispenser applicator and flexible walled container assembly for applying liquid compositions such as anti-tick and anti-flea compositions and the like to the skin of pet animals, including an applicator portion molded in the configuration of the kind of pet animal to be treated having hollow legs resembling the pet animal's legs forming coarse combing members to spread the animal's hair into furrows. The hollow legs form tubular conduits for the liquid composition and have elongated felt pad members protruding from the lower ends to contact the animal's skin and transfer the liquid composition thereto. The flexible walled container comprising an elongated generally round cross-sectioned squeeze bottle threaded to a tail portion of the applicator and forming a handle for the assembly.

Abstract: An appliance or device for treating hair includes a tubular barrel containing a generator for heat and vapor and a plurality of hair winding mandrels which are slidably mounted over the tubular barrel. The mandrels have different external sizes and configurations, but have interior structures which, though they may differ, allow each mandrel to be used with the same tubular barrel.
