Abstract: Hair devices and methods which elongate curly hair by use of gravitational force, as the mass of the device weighs more than the hair section in order to transform curly hair into a wavy or straight coiffure. The device can be used as either a styling tool or an ornamental hair accessory that remains in the hair. The invented device is particularly advantageous for tightly coiled hair patterns of hair. The device can include a first and second curved metal form, each having a plurality of ventilation cut-outs and tab ends which allow each of the forms to attach to one another in an oval configuration, which can be wrapped about a hair bundle, or in which a hair bundle can be inserted therein. Concave curved recesses in the plates can allow for another pair of curved plates that forms a second oval shape to be attached to each other by pin type members.

Abstract: A hair extension device can include single and dual clip member apparatuses. Hair extension tracks can be applied to the outer surface areas of an apparatus, along the upper edge of a clip member, allowing hair extensions to lie over the entire outer region of the clip. The entire outer surface areas of said clip member apparatuses can contain no holes or at least one row of holes at the top edge of a clip member, providing various means for attaching hair extension tracks. The natural hair can be secured to an apparatus by a row of comb-like teeth that point upward against the scalp when properly applied, providing complementary mating between that natural hair and the slots formed at the base of the comb-like teeth, or by placing the hair in between the apparatus. An apparatus can be opened and closed by snap-action lock.

Abstract: A head ornament fastening member that attaches a head ornament to hairs on a head. The head ornament fastening member comprises a first fastening member that includes a base, and a plurality of stems which protrude from a surface of the base and are inserted into the hairs from upside; and a second fastening member that includes a plurality of comb-tooth-like portions which intersect the plurality of stems and are inserted into the hairs from a lateral direction. The plurality of stems of the first fastening member and the plurality of comb-tooth-like portions of the second fastening member intersect with each other in the hairs from upside and a lateral direction, thereby fastening the head ornament to the hairs.

Abstract: A hairstyling accessory has an elastic band and a comb with bridge extending laterally across the comb. A plurality of tines protrudes longitudinally from one edge of the bridge generally parallel to and spaced apart from one another. A connector has an opening on the bridge and a tongue coinciding with the opening. A portion of the elastic band is received in the opening and around the tongue and the majority of the elastic band extends from the comb.

Abstract: A hair piece of the present invention includes a comb portion formed from a flexible polymeric material. The comb includes a top portion presenting a track or female connector and a plurality of teeth extending radially from the top portion for engaging hair of a user. The comb may be fabricated from many other materials in addition to polymeric material or combination thereof without limiting the scope of the present invention. A base or support portion of the hair piece is formed from another polymeric material such as foam or the like. The base portion may present various cross sections such as circular, rectangular, square, and the like. The base portion may present various length and heights as desired by the user. A human or synthetic hair of various shapes, styles and colors is connected to the base portion thereby totally covering the base portion.

Abstract: A hairstyling accessory has an elastic band and a comb with bridge extending laterally across the comb. A plurality of tines protrudes longitudinally from one edge of the bridge generally parallel to and spaced apart from one another. A connector has an opening on the bridge and a tongue coinciding with the opening. A portion of the elastic band is received in the opening and around the tongue and the majority of the elastic band extends from the comb.

Abstract: One embodiment of an hair lift device includes an elongate flexible member and a locking mechanism that adjustably secures the elongate flexible member in position to allow a wearer to adjust a position of their hair.

Abstract: Applicator for coloring or bleaching product for hair tresses or other hair treatment, includes a lower jaw, planar and smooth on its base, constituting a coloring compartment or area fed by the treatment product, and an upper jaw, jointed with the lower jaw, maintained closed upon it through the action of a rebound spring, requiring the tip of the jaw which comprises a joint with a soft lip to clamp the selected tresses previously added to the coloring area on the lower jaw. The joint having a lip (9) has a tapered shape along its width making a distribution and spreading area for applying color, where the traction of the tool towards the rear naturally crushes a corner of dye and causes its natural diffusion inside each tress of hair. One or more moveable reservoirs containing the coloring composition, clamped above the upper jaw, feed the coloring compartment by pressing a button.

Abstract: A hair clip which includes opposing first (12) and second (14) combs, each of which has a body (18) with an upper side (19) and an underside (20), a plurality of spaced apart teeth (21) which extend from the body (18) and a plurality of attachment brackets (22a, 22b, 22c) on the body (18), each of which has an individual recess formation on the underside (20) and at least two spaced apart apertures which extend in the recess formation and between the underside and the upper side, and a biasing member which is attached to the first and second combs (14) and which is engaged with the plurality of attachment brackets (22a, 22b, 22c).

Abstract: A hair cutting guide, for use by a hairdresser in cutting the hair of a person using scissors, having a pair of guide halves that are hingeably attached and selectively enter an open position and a closed position. Each of the guide halves have a plurality of teeth arranged along its longitudinal edges. The teeth have an inner surface that face the inner surfaces of the teeth in the other guide halve when the guide is in the closed position. Combs extend perpendicularly to the inner surfaces such that hair is extended transversely between the longitudinal edges and is held in place by the combs when the guide is closed. Straight cutting and point cutting is carried out by cutting with the scissors adjacent to the teeth along one of the longitudinal edges when the guide is in the closed position.

Abstract: A hairbrush includes a brush base having a plurality of brushing bristles, a handle provided thereto, a hair holder extending longitudinally along with the brush base and a control member making the hair holder extend and shorten longitudinally. The control member and an entire body except for at least a tip portion of the hair holder are positioned at the handle. The hair holder is extended and shortened by the control member within an area ranging from “a back position” where the hair holder is shortened to be provided to the handle as mentioned above to “a front position” where the hair holder is extended so that a tip portion thereof reaches near a front edge of the brush base. When the hair holder is extended to the front position, hair is received between the brush base and the hair holder. The hairbrush enables a user to style hairdos beautifully without much experience by blowing hair to flow softly or giving hair waves.

Abstract: The present invention is a comb that includes curved or angular teeth placed perpendicular to a cylindrical handle in a straight or helical path. It can be drawn through a lock of hair to create a ringlet curl that hangs free from the scalp. It may optionally include a second row of teeth, or an individual tooth, that incorporates additional strands of hair into the curl. The comb may include an extension that smoothes hair over the teeth. In operation one uses the comb to dress wet or dry hair. The first row of curved teeth is applied to the hair at the root, and drawn through the hair with a rotating motion that is consistent with the direction of the curve of the comb's teeth resulting in a ringlet curl that hangs free from the head.

Abstract: A hair styling device is provided for holding hair in place, particularly upsweep styles in the form of twists or French twists. The invention is particularly in the form of a comb with teeth conforming generally to the shape of the head so as to insert into an elongated twist of hair folded against the head. Separately offset arched sections on the teeth provide for insertion of a locking pin which serves to securely hold hair in place without the need for auxiliary anchors such as hairpins and clamps.

Abstract: A hair styling comb which has a conventional comb portion and from which extends a double tang assembly, the tangs are of unequal length, are normally separated and are biased to resist movement toward one another but are slidably compressed together by a sliding compression member permanently attached to the comb. The compressible tangs are used to grip portions of hair for curling. After a curl is formed, the compression member is released and the tangs are then withdrawn from the cornroll. The device is easily constructed using plastic forming techniques and provides a useful tool for forming cornrolls or other tightly rolled curls. The double tangs are enclosed by a protective cylindrical cover when the user simply wants to use the conventional comb portion.

Abstract: A hair clip structure having a comb concealed therein includes a plate body, an elastic clip, and a comb. The plate body has an inner acting face on which the elastic clip is secured using bolts. Left and right ends of the plate body are respectively provided with left and right tracks, that are respectively provided with openings on opposed faces and lower portions for receiving the comb that is pushed in between the left and right tracks from a lower end of the plate body. The left and right tracks on the plate body are provided with left and right limiting grooves each having a stop boss. An intermediate limiting groove having upper and lower stop projections is disposed between the left and right limiting grooves.

Abstract: A color matched hair clip device with and without an unlocking key combination, and a method for adding and removing multiple hair extensions or tracks to a person's head without resorting to sewing or gluing as practiced conventionally. The hair clip device is made up of a comb element and a cover element which "Ziplocs".TM. with a locking guard element in the first embodiment. The U-shaped locking guard has a hooked sheath at each end. The cover element has two track snaps or hair extension holders under which the hair extensions are attached. The second embodiment dispenses with the locking guard and utilizes plastic snaps for both the hair extension holders, the comb teeth and the cover element for securing the hair extensions.

The bristles (1) include at least two sections (9, 11) with cross-sectional areas of different sizes. A section with an increased cross-sectional area (11) adjoins the bristle base (3) having a reduced cross-sectional area, so that the bristle (1) is provided with a neck portion (17) between the bristle supporting structure (7) and the section with the increased cross-sectional area (11).

Abstract: A hair styling device for providing lift by directing air flow from a blow dryer to a selected section of hair adjacent the scalp while holding the hair in position away from the scalp, which includes a nozzle type blow dryer attachment having a pair of combs mounted adjacent one side of attachment's opening so that the air stream directed by the nozzle flows alongside the length of the comb teeth. The pair of combs can be moved laterally relative to one another the teeth of one comb can be moved into and out of engagement with the adjacent teeth of the other comb. By moving the teeth into engagement, hair can be held in position away from the scalp while blow drying so that the hair between the scalp and the comb teeth can be dried while in the upstanding position to provide lift to hair styles.

Abstract: A hair comb for use as a decorative fashion accessory characterized by its ability to grip and retain the hair of the wearer in order to maintain a desired hair style comprises an elongate flexible, bendable, rod-like member of a closed cell foam. A stiffening wire is integral with and extends along substantially the entire length of the rod-like member. Spaced apart plastic teeth are embedded within and extend outwardly from and beyond the exterior surface of the rod-like member. A decorative covering surrounding encases the rod-like member so that the teeth protrude through the covering. An optional closure means is connected to the covering at opposite ends. The wire, teeth, and closure means cooperate to maintain the comb in the desired position in the hair.

Abstract: An apparatus for maintaining hair in a braid is describe which includes of an elongate body having a top surface, a first end and a second end. A comb is transversely positioned at the first end. A plurality of pegs extend upwardly from the top surface of the body. The pegs are spaced at intervals between the first end and the second end to define a plurality of hair receiving spaces. Strands of hair are interwoven by being laid in a zig-zag fashion into the spaces between the pegs. The interwoven hair is secured to the top surface at the second end of the elongate body, thereby preventing the interwoven strands of hair from unravelling. Decorative caps can be placed on the pegs to maintain the strands of hair in the hair receiving spaces and for decorative purposes.

Abstract: A hair comb includes moveable gripping elements for securing the hair comb in place in the user's hair. The hair comb comprises a main body including a plurality of teeth. A selected number of teeth include a longitudinal channel which is open along one side of the tooth. A gripping member including one or more gripping teeth is movably mounted in the main body. The gripping member is moveable from an inoperative position in which the gripping teeth are disposed within the longitudinal channels of respective teeth of the main body and a clamping position in which the gripping teeth extend outwardly from the longitudinal channels to clamp the user's hair between the gripping teeth and the adjacent teeth. A resilient member urges the gripping member to the retracted position. A latch releasably locks the gripping member in a clamping position. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the latch is operative to lock the gripping members in a plurality of different positions.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a multi-directional hairstyling adjustable level barrette device. It includes a barrette member which has a first elongated frame and a second elongated frame with each of these frames having a plurality of teeth. The first elongated frame and the second elongated frame each have a first end and a second end and the first end of these frames are hingedly connected to one another and the second ends of these frames have an attachment mechanism which permits them to be removably attachable to one another. The comb member has a plurality of teeth and it has a comb member attachment mechanism so that it can be attached to the barrette member at a plurality of locations along the elongated length of the barrette member. For example, the attachment mechanism may be hooks, snaps or slide-ins or other attachment mechanisms.

Abstract: There is disclosed herein a haircutting device or aid which has a pair of movable members which can be slid through the hair and moved to lift a section of hair for cutting. The device comprises a handle which is held in the hand of the user, a lower comb section and an upper comb section. The upper comb section has connected therewith a lever which allows the upper comb section to be raised with respect to the lower comb section to lift the length of hair. Preferably the lower comb section includes a smooth "comb" base member which can slide along the scalp, and the upper comb section terminates in a comb having a plurality of teeth which likewise move through the hair of the scalp and lift the length of hair to be cut. Scissors are used in a conventional manner along the upper comb member to cut the hair extending beyond the lifted length. The lower comb section is adjustable with respect to the handle which, in turn, enables adjustment of the length of hair to be lifted for cutting.

Abstract: A hairdressing apparatus includes a clamp having a pair of ribs which are pivotally connected at a lower end and adjustably releasably connected at an upper end, to grip hair therebetween. A comb portion includes a back with teeth projecting therefrom, and upper and lower legs projecting from the ends of the back parallel to the teeth. The projecting ends of the comb legs are releasably connected to the upper and lower ends of the clamp portion to secure the comb portion and clamp portion together. A method for styling hair utilizing the hairdressing apparatus includes the initial step of brushing the hair rearwardly to form a ponytail having long and short hair strands. The clamp portion of the hairdressing apparatus is then clamped on the ponytail at a location to grip both the long and short hair strands, and spaced away from the head. The end of the ponytail is then rolled towards the head, the roll being parallel to the clamp apparatus, until the clamp apparatus is wrapped into the roll.

Abstract: A horse hair banding comb having a comb member with a plurality of teeth and a plurality of receptacles formed therein and a looking member removably affixed to the comb member. The looking member extends over the teeth. The looking member has an edge positioned in proximity to the receptacle area. The receptacle areas allow horse hair to pass therethrough. The comb member is made up of a body, a first tooth having a V-shaped configuration and extending downwardly from the body, a second tooth having a V-shaped configuration and extending downwardly from the body, and a first receptacle area formed in the body between the first and second teeth. The locking member includes a first bar and a second bar in generally parallel spaced relationship. The comb member is positioned within this spaced area between the first and second bars.

Abstract: The invention shows a comb for the formation of braids and similar hairstyles in professional hairdressing. One embodiment is a comb, having teeth of a spaced pattern common in the trade; extending out from the back of the comb, for a substantial distance along the back of the comb is a flat, flexible bar, spaced a distance from the comb. Preferably, the spacing is tapered, being narrower at the point of attachment of the bar to the comb. This forms a tapered space for holding a section of hair, and aids in retaining the section of hair by the comb, permitting a hairdresser to separate a section of hair into the space, and then allow the comb to hang free. In a second version of the comb, the flexible bar is in the form of a spring, a curved flexible bar fastened to one end of the comb, and extending in for form of a looped curve along the back to a pivot pin at the other end of the comb; the bar then is curved around the pin and extends back a distance along the comb to form the hair braid retention space.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a hairbrush wherein the bars located on either side of the longitudinal portion connected to the handle are provided with tongues allowing the hair locks to be resiliently maintained between the tongues and the bars during the brushing.

Abstract: A device for clasping hair comprises a comb member that includes a base portion having a facing surface and a plurality of teeth extending in spaced, generally mutually parallel relation from the base portion. A clasp member having a clasp surface includes a loop for embracing at least one of the teeth of the comb member in sliding relation to thereby mount the clasp member on the comb member with the facing and clasping surfaces in tightly confronting relation. At least one of the facing and the clasping surfaces is contoured to diverge from the other of the surfaces and define a region having a generally V-shaped cross-section therebetween when in confronting relation.
