Abstract: This patent discloses a playpen canopy comprising 4 universal mounting connectors which are readily removably attached to each of the corners of a conventional collapsible playpen of the type popularly in use. The depicted canopy is a dome shaped cloth fabric supported by two flexible poles which pass through elongated crossed pockets in the fabric. The poles are fixed to one another in the elongated pockets by means of a pivot extending through their centers. The ends of each pole are supported at diagonally opposite corners of the play pen by the 4 universal mounting connectors which are provided with latching means for securing the corners of the canopy thereto.
Abstract: A convertible, collapsible shelter apparatus for use on land and in a body of water comprises a buoyant vehicle in combination with a shelter assembly. The buoyant vehicle has (a) an inflatable frame, (b) a flexible member whose perimeter is sealingly attached to the frame, and (c) anchors for holding a spaced plurality of pole members. The shelter assembly has (a) a plurality of struts which are removably held by the anchors and extend upwardly therefrom and across the floor, (b) a flexible cover supported by the struts and which extends to proximate the perimeter of floor and has an entrance for an occupant of the shelter; (c) an inflatable cushion which covers the frame and is removably retained against the floor by the frame, and (d) fasteners for holding a bottom portion of the cover proximate an edge of the cushion. When the cushion, the struts, and the cover are removed from the vehicle to form a tent, the fasteners are capable of maintaining the cover proximate the cushion.
Abstract: A children's portable stage structure embodying a changeable pictorial scene setting outer curtain, an inner closure curtain, and a canopy removably extending the stage structure outwardly of a supporting wall surface.
Abstract: An outdoor sleeping system is provided incorporating a ground cover sheet to which is attached a tent cover in the form of a body section and a head section which are releasably interconnected by a slide fastener or other suitable connector. The tent cover is secured to the ground cover sheet by means of one or more slide fasteners enabling complete removal of the head and body portions of the tent cover or either of the head and body portions thereof as desired. The tent cover is constructed to permit efficient lateral or end entry into the sleeping system as is desired by the user under the conditions involved. Under wet conditions, lateral opening of the tent cover permits entry by the user while the tent cover prevents rain from getting into the sleeping system. The tent cover is supported in upright position by a plurality of ribs each of which being collapsible to a shortened condition for closure and rolling of the sleeping system.
Abstract: A portable, sun and wind shield having a flexible covering material and a collapsible frame for supporting said covering material is disclosed. The collapsible frame is comprised of at least two resilient support members secured at their respective ends by connecting means. An adjustable tensioning means is secured at the connecting means and is adapted to draw together the ends of the resilient support. The covering material is spanned between the resilient support members such that when the resilient support ends are drawn together and rotated in opposite direction about the connecting means, the covering material becomes tautly stretched.
Abstract: A combination wind or sun screen and beach blanket apparatus includes a blanket having at least one aperture in each corner. A screen assembly consists of right and left poles having disposed between them a flexible sheet of material, the poles have tapered or pointed ends for insertion into the corner aperture of the blanket to secure the blanket in the ground and to form a vertical wall to block the effect of the wind or to operate to cast a shadow on the blanket as desired.
Abstract: A sun shade for an infant's car seat has a flexible, sheet-like canopy which is generally horizontal in use. The canopy has a pocket formed at a first end for fitting over the top of the back of an infant's car seat. There is a flexible tension link at a second end of the canopy for stretchably anchoring the canopy to a part of the car's interior which is spaced-apart from the infant's car seat. There may be a pair of side flaps extending along opposite sides of the canopy between the ends thereof.
Abstract: A foldable shelter has a framework with two major joints. A plurality of rib members, each of generally U-shaped configuration, is attached by the free ends of each rib member being connected at one of the major joints and the other free end being connected at the other major joint. A flexible cover is connected to the ribs and a clamp is coupled to each of the major joints for permitting the releasable attachment of the shelter to the framework of a lounge. The clamps are mounted rotatably with respect to the rib members and include wire springs which are pivotally mounted at respective joints. The axes of each of the respective joints intersect an axis of one of the major joints.
Abstract: A tent structure of light-weight reinforced plastic sheet covers the hatch of a barge for weather protection of contents. The cover is stored in compact form aboard the barge for quick erection by a winch system when use is required. The array is secured over the coaming by fastening the cover to the deck at a series of positions with claw hook and chain assemblies. By erecting stored ridge poles to extend above the coaming, the cover thereover provides a pup-tent form which sheds water as a roof, permits loading above the coaming level, and permits loading or unloading in foul weather from the side. Very light-weight reinforced plastic permits a low cost throw-away type assembly with little manpower necessary for erection and produces maximum cargo capacity pay-load and lower maintenance cost by replacement of heavier steel hatch covers.
