Patent number: 5228469Abstract: The fluid control device of the present invention combines a flow sensing unit in series with a control valve. The flow sensing unit is of the displacement piston type and the flow rate is electronically sensed. A single action poppet valve assembly facilitates the use of a self contained power supply for use in remote locations. A microprocessor monitors parameters including pressure, flow rate, temperature and flow volume, and is enabled to activate the control valve to the open or shut positions based upon any combination of the monitored parameters.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1992Date of Patent: July 20, 1993Inventors: Bernard J. Patent number: 5195552Abstract: A check valve wherein the housing has an inlet and a seat at one end and an outlet at the other end. The other end can receive a removable and reinsertable cage which serves to confine a selected one of several spherical and/or otherwise configurated valving elements to movements between a sealing position of engagement with the seat to seal the inlet from the outlet and an inoperative position in which the housing, the selected valving element and the cage define a path for the flow of a fluid from the inlet toward, through and beyond the outlet. The inserted valving element is biased against the seat by a spring or by the fluid when the pressure of fluid at the outlet exceeds the pressure of fluid at the inlet.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1991Date of Patent: March 23, 1993Assignee: Dieter Wildfang GmbHInventor: Holger Nehm

Patent number: 5178185Abstract: A suction inlet pump, useful with pumper firetrucks, has a floating valve element which is normally biased closed by a spring. The motion of the floating valve is also positively determined by a cam engaging a shaft extending from the floating valve element and aligned with the cam. The cam is moved from a first position that positively holds the floating valve element completely closed to a second position which allows the floating valve element to fully open. By selectively positioning the cam between the completely closed and fully opened positions, the amount of water entering the valve may be selected so that the valve functions properly for the particular use to which it is put. The suction inlet valve includes a lockable operating handle which is used to rotate and position the cam. An indicator on the exterior of the valve housing indicates the position of the cam.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1991Date of Patent: January 12, 1993Assignee: Hydra-Shield Manufacturing Inc.Inventors: Henry J. Patent number: 5036882Abstract: A pressure responsive valve assembly for use in a decanting apparatus for a wastewater treatment reactor. The valve assembly includes a cylindrical valve plate, a valve member support structure, a valve spring, and a valve member comprising a valve stem and a valve head. A discharge passageway extending through the valve plate has a frusto-conical valve seat located therein. The valve head also has a frusto-conical design having an angle of divergence smaller than that of the valve seat so that when the valve head is biased against the valve seat by the valve spring, the valve seat sealingly engages a peripheral edge of the valve seat. The valve member support structure maintains the valve member in proper alignment with the valve seat and in engaging relationship with the valve spring.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1990Date of Patent: August 6, 1991Assignee: JMO Holding, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth L. Patent number: 4993451Abstract: The valve is intended to contain a given residual pressure in the cylinder and is mounted in the cylindrical bore (16) of a connection piece (14) designed to be connected either to a circuit for using the gas, or to a circuit for filling or rinsing the cylinder. It comprises a closing member which is urged in the direction of its closure onto a seat (22) under the action of a spring (26) and counter to the action of the pressure of the gas in the cylinder. In order to permit the filling of the cylinder, the closing member is axially displaceable inside a bush (40) which is removably engaged in the said bore (16) while the spring (26) rests on an element designed to be secured either to the connection pieces (14) so as to keep the valve in the operative position, or to the said bush (40) so as to permit the axial disengagement of the valve together with the bush (40) and the said element.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1989Date of Patent: February 19, 1991Assignee: Ceodeuz S.A.Inventor: Paul Kremer

Patent number: 4979721Abstract: A check valve of the type having a valve body and a valve pin mounted to slide in the valve body includes on its exterior surface a raised annular ridge. This ridge defines at least one pair of wrench flats and has first and second annular shoulders, each on a respective side of the ridge. The first shoulder is shaped to retain a quick disconnect coupler in position on the valve body. The overall length of the valve body can be reduced because the same annular ridge defines both the wrench flats and the shoulder that retains the quick disconnect coupler.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1989Date of Patent: December 25, 1990Assignee: Bridge Products, Inc.Inventor: Major H.
