  • Publication number: 20030015252
Abstract: A wood planing machine includes a first drive transmission member transmitting a rotating force of a cutting member to a first transmission shaft with two gears mounted thereon. Two gears are splined on a second transmission shaft and are movable along an axis of the shaft such that one gear meshes with a respective one of the gears on the first transmission shaft so as to result in two reduction drives of the second transmission shaft. A second drive transmission member transmits one of the reduction drives to a feed-in rolling member. An actuating member is rotated with a rotating force which is transformed by a cam member into a translation force to move the gears on the second transmission shaft.

  • Patent number: 6470932
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improved centering of a workpiece in a surfacing machine includes centering assembly having a plurality of individually movable biasing element sets, comprising an upper element and a lower element. Each element set is operatively connected to a closed circuit, double rod end hydraulic cylinder assembly which selectively and independently positions the element set responsive to the surface to the workpiece. The hydraulic cylinder assembly includes a valve. A pressure device is also operatively connected to each element set to provide a centering force. In use, as the upper or lower element of an element set is forced away from the centerline of the workpiece, the opposing element would automatically move the same amount when the valve is closed. When the valve is open, the upper and lower elements are free to move independently, allowing the centerline to be easily positioned as desired.

  • Patent number: 6231432
Abstract: A floor treatment machine with a torque limiter assembly between a rotating drive linkage and a rotating head for treating a floor surface. The torque limiter assembly includes engaged plates that disengage upon the application of a predetermined torque created when the head slows or stops rotating because of a floor obstruction. Upon the disengagement of the plates, the drive linkage continues to rotate and is less likely to sustain damage from the effect of the floor obstruction on the rotation of the head. The plates may engage each other through a configuration of cooperating teeth and notches. Alternatively, a rotating head can be provided with a built-in torque limiter assembly. This head can be attached to various floor treatment machines. The amount of predetermined torque that causes the plates to disengage may be adjusted as needed for varied floor conditions.

  • Patent number: 6176768
Abstract: A two surface planer includes a lower base with a rear stationary table and a front sloped member sloping up to an intermediate portion, an adjusting base with an upper horizontal surface, and an activating rod pivot-ally connected with the adjusting base and the sloped member to let the adjusting base lifted up and lowered down on the sloped member. A lower cutter head is further provided in the intermediate portion of the lower base, having an lateral upper opening for a cutter of a lower cutter shaft rotatably contained in the lower cutter head, with the cutter protruding up out of the opening for a preset distance. When the adjusting base is lowered below the cutter by operation of the activating rod rotated by a hand wheel, the cutter can plane wood workpiece, and then two surfaces (the upper and the lower) of wood can be planed synchronously.
