Publication number: 20130215638Abstract: Electronic devices may include assemblies of structures such as electronic device assemblies connected using light-cured liquid adhesive such as ultraviolet-light-cured adhesive. Light guide structures may be mounted in the assemblies. During manufacture of an electronic device, ultraviolet light may be injected into a light guide structure to cure the light-cured liquid adhesive. A light guide structure may include portions that prevent escape of ultraviolet light and portions that allow ultraviolet light to escape into the light-cured liquid adhesive. Light guide structures may include masked portions, rigid support members, and one or more openings. Openings in a light guide structure may allow the light-cured liquid adhesive to be injected into an assembly through the openings. An adhesive applicator may be used to apply the adhesive to portions of the assembly. An external light source may be used to inject light that cures the adhesive into the light guide structures.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 21, 2012Publication date: August 22, 2013Inventors: Teodor Dabov, Casey J. Publication number: 20130206333Abstract: A solid, dry to the touch at ambient temperature, heat curable, generally non-foaming structural adhesive that exhibits shape memory characteristics. The adhesive can be cured at an elevated temperature and contains a high molecular weight polymeric constituent that can be oriented such that at an elevated temperature below the curing temperature the material will shrink in one plane while increasing its thickness at a temperature in the range of from above the elevated temperature to below the curing temperature.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2011Publication date: August 15, 2013Applicant: ZEPHYROS, INC.Inventor: Michael Czaplicki

Publication number: 20130183499Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide (i) a stiffener-integrated flexible printed circuit board in which a defect such as a blistering is not generated during a reflow process even though a stiffener is attached to a photosensitive resin composition, and (ii) a method for manufacturing the stiffener-integrated flexible printed circuit board. The object can be attained by causing a stiffener-integrated flexible printed circuit board to have a structure in which (A) a stiffener (6), (B) a bonding material (5), (C) a cured film obtained by curing a photosensitive resin composition (4), and (D) a flexible printed circuit board (1) are laminated in this order.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 8, 2011Publication date: July 18, 2013Applicant: KANEKA CORPORATIONInventors: Masayoshi Kido, Tetsuya Kogiso, Yoshihide Sekito

Patent number: 8484840Abstract: When a formed position of a via formed on a board is the same as a position of a footprint of a chip component located on the back surface of the board corresponding to an area on which a BGA is mounted, a board designing apparatus determines that the chip component and the BGA can be connected using chip on hole. When it is determined that the chip component and the BGA can be connected, the board designing apparatus carries out chip on hole by forming a via in an area of the board on which the BGA is mounted, the via leading to the footprint of the chip component located on the back surface of the board.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2010Date of Patent: July 16, 2013Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Toshiyasu Sakata, Eiichi Konno

Publication number: 20130168015Abstract: A layer of polymer material is applied on a peripheral region of at least one of the two substrates to be bonded prior to bonding. The bonded structure formed thereby includes a first substrate, a second substrate in direct contact with the first substrate, and a ring of the polymer material in direct contact with the first substrate at a first interface and in direct contact with the second substrate. The ring of polymer material laterally surrounds and seals the interface at which the first substrate contacts the second substrate. A ring-shaped cavity can be formed within the polymeric ring. Alternately, the first interface and the second interface can be contiguous without a ring-shaped cavity between the first and second substrates.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 26, 2013Publication date: July 4, 2013Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventor: International Business Machines Corporation
