Publication number: 20130081758Abstract: A tape head includes a two-stage system by which a spring is tensioned. In a first stage, the spring may be partially tensioned when a case, moving along a conveyor, contacts a first application roller. The spring may be additionally tensioned when the case, continuing to move along the conveyor, contacts the second stage. In one example of the second stage, a lever is moved by contact with the moving case. Movement of the lever moves tensions the spring further. By tensioning the spring in multiple stages, assemblies and/or processes, less force is applied by the case to the first application roller. Accordingly, it is less likely to deform the case. The tensioned spring provides energy to move a second application roller around a trailing edge of the case, and thereby press a cut end of the tape against a side of the case.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2012Publication date: April 4, 2013Applicant: R.A. Publication number: 20120327019Abstract: A method of producing a touch screen includes feeding and laminating a roll of an adhesive sheet material to bond a sheet glass, a roll of a first sheet material having first electrodes, and a roll of a second sheet material having second electrodes; pinching and pressing the laminated sheet materials between a pair of press rollers to form a laminated body of the bonded sheet materials. When being fed, the sheet materials are cut off at a predetermined length corresponding to a lateral size of a rectangular touch screen, and thus the sheet materials can be provided in a predetermined size in one cutting process. Rolling the sheet materials reduces wrinkles and folds and eliminates a protection sheet for each sheet material, which is required in a case of stacking a plurality of planar sheets, thus facilitating cost reduction.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2012Publication date: December 27, 2012Applicant: PANASONIC CORPORATIONInventor: Shigeyuki TAKAO

Publication number: 20120327507Abstract: Light management film constructions contain a first optical film having a first major surface and a second major surface opposite the first major surface. The first major surface is a micro structured surface with asymmetrical structures. The asymmetrical structures form an ordered arrangement of a plurality of multi-sided refractive prisms, with the multi-sided refractive prisms having a cross section of 3 or greater sides. A second optical film contacts and is bonded to substantially all of the structures of the first major structured surface of the first optical film. The light management constructions can be incorporated into optical articles such as windows.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2010Publication date: December 27, 2012Applicant: 3M INNOVATIVE PROPERTIES COMPANYInventors: Raghunath Padiyath, Charles A. Publication number: 20120305523Abstract: A simple and innovative process for manufacturing a high performance mechanical polarizing device is provided. The invention utilizes an inexpensive, high output production process where a transparent film substrate is coated with a non-transparent layer by deposition or other wet or dry method. Then a photoresist or a nano-imprint lithography process is used to overlay the non-transparent coated film with a pattern. The exposed non-transparent material is then removed by means of acid or base etching or the use of other mechanical or nano-technology removal methods. The photoresist is then removed and a protective layer may then be applied to the polarizer substrate. According to another embodiment, nano-imprinting techniques are used to prepare the polarizer substrate. The process may be automated in one or more embodiments, and lends itself to a high speed production manufacturing line, utilizing roll-to-roll, sheet fed or other methods of automated manufacturing.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2012Publication date: December 6, 2012Inventors: Primal Fernando, Steve Fischer
