  • Publication number: 20110247746
Abstract: Described is the use of synthetic adhesives in the manufacture of corrugated fiberboard at relatively low temperatures and high lineal speeds. The corrugated fiberboard includes a corrugated sheet of paper and a flat linerboard and the corrugation of the corrugated sheet of paper is produced at paper temperatures below 95° C. and at a lineal speed above 150 m/min. The production of the corrugation of a corrugated sheet of paper is immediately followed by a continuous operation in which a preferably unheated corrugated board adhesive is applied and the corrugated sheet of paper is adhered to at least one first linerboard. The corrugated board adhesive used is an aqueous adhesive dispersion based on at least one synthetic, dispersed polymer having preferably more than 40% by weight solids content, selected from acrylate copolymers, copolymers of vinylaromatics and conjugated aliphatic dienes and vinyl acetate-alkylene copolymers, wherein the glass transition temperatures of the polymers are above 20° C.

The thickness of the coating is controlled by submerging the functional plate in the buffered dopamine solution while the pH value of the dopamine solution is maintained at a value sufficient for polymerization of the dopamine during that time period, and then transferring the plates to a solution having a pH value that is insufficient to sustain the polymerization reaction.

Abstract: To provide a primer composition for assisting an acrylic adhesive which exhibits a temporarily fixing effect very quickly and which is completely cured quickly at room temperature, while maintaining excellent characteristics of the acrylic adhesive. A primer composition, which comprises a component (A): a basic compound having a primary, secondary or tertiary amine structure, a component (B): a liquid oligomer, and a component (C): a solvent. Preferably, the component (A) is a compound having a main chain of which the skeleton is ethyleneimine, or ethyleneimine having a molecular weight of from 50 to 70,000. Further, a bonding method, which comprises applying the above primer composition on a surface of an object to be bonded by dot coating, and bonding the object to another object to be bonded by means of the acrylic adhesive.

Abstract: Acrylic-based pressure sensitive adhesives are modified with a telechelic hydrocarbon oligomer. The oligomer comprises a hydrocarbon polymer chain or backbone and a functional end group, e.g., an oligomer prepared from a mono hydroxyl polybutadiene polymer and toluene diisocyanate. The oligomer attaches to the acrylic backbone of the polymer as a pendant group and in a preferred embodiment, the oligomer is mixed with the PSA shortly before the PSA is coated.
