Reclaiming, Renewing Or Repairing Articles For Reuse Patents (Class 156/94)
  • Patent number: 11904560
Abstract: Described are methods and systems for repair of composite components without the use of vacuum bagging. The systems described herein include a composite repair structure with a repair laminate and a film sealant. The film sealant covers the repair laminate to prevent intrusion of air and other volatiles during bonding of the composite repair structure to the composite being repaired. As the film sealant prevents intrusion of air and other volatiles, the composite repair structure can be bonded to the structure to be repaired without the use of a vacuum bag. Thus, vehicle components can be repaired without disassembly from the vehicle.

Abstract: A system for coating a field joint of a pipeline places at least one body having a thermoplastics material around the field joint. The body is heated in a mould cavity around the field joint to effect thermal expansion of the thermoplastics material. Thermal expansion of the body in the mould cavity is constrained to apply elevated pressure between the body and pipe sections joined at the field joint. The elevated pressure improves bonding and fusing between the body, which forms a field joint coating, and the parent coatings and the exposed pipe sections of the pipe joints. The body need not be fully molten, which reduces the mould residence time including in-mould heating and cooling phases.

Abstract: Cellulose cyanoacrylate is employed to bond two surfaces, fill voids or duplicate the shape of a three-dimensional object, Two surfaces may be bonded by placing a sheet of cellulose material between the surfaces and applying cyanoacrylate glue around the edge of the sheet until saturated and allowing it to cure. Paper toweling may favorably be employed as the cellulose material. A break or fracture in an article can be overlaid with a sheet of cellulose that when saturated with cyanoacrylate glue and temporarily held in place and shaped with a releasable film, the fracture can be corrected. A dry powder comprising highly abrasion-resistant particles can be mixed with the cellulose material to enhance abrasion resistance and to improve long-term color stability—especially important for dental cavity treatment. To duplicate the shape of a three-dimensional object, a sheet of releasable film is placed over the object, followed by a sheet of cellulose that is then saturated with cyanoacrylate glue.

  • Patent number: 10207375
Abstract: A system and method for solid state metal plate repair is provided. A solid state metal plate repair system may comprise a drill, a cutter and a plug. The plug may be configured to fill a void created by the cutter. The plug may also be configured to create a metallurgical bond with the metal plate during a repair operation. The plug may also be configured to shear from the drill (e.g., drive motor) when an expected rise in torque indicates a sufficient bond has been achieved in the repair. The systems and methods described herein may be used on specialty alloys wherein other repair methods are undesirable.

  • Patent number: 10192849
Abstract: A method of manufacturing semiconductor modules includes providing a metal composite substrate including a metal foil attached to a metal layer, the metal foil being thinner than and comprising a different material than the metal layer, attaching a first surface of a plurality of semiconductor dies to the metal foil prior to structuring the metal foil, and encasing the semiconductor dies attached to the metal foil in an electrically insulating material. The metal layer and the metal foil are structured after the semiconductor dies are encased with the electrically insulating material so that surface regions of the electrically insulating material are devoid of the metal foil and the metal layer. The electrically insulating material is divided along the surface regions devoid of the metal foil and the metal layer to form individual modules.

  • Patent number: 10119237
Abstract: Provided is a fixation device having a shaft rotatable about a longitudinal axis with a first cutter at a first, distal end; a guide body on the shaft shaped to taper outwardly towards the first end of the shaft; an elongate sleeve disposed surroundingly about the shaft; and a flareable end formation at a first, distal end of the elongate sleeve. The guide body and the flareable end formation urge the sleeve towards the first end over the guide body and flare the end formation outward from the shaft. A tensioning mechanism forms part of the fixation device and is associated with a second end of the sleeve and operable selectively to urge the shaft relative to the sleeve back towards the second end. An associated method of installing a fixation device into a substrate is also described.
