Abstract: A shutter includes a shutter panel 10 having a plurality of plates 1 which are rotatably connected to one another by hinge members 2, and a pair of guide rails 4 formed with guide grooves 40 which slidably hold opposite end edges of the shutter panel 10. By using the hinge members 2 which connect the adjacent plates 1 to each other so that the plates are rotatably bent only in a direction in which a curvature becomes greater than a portion of the guide groove 40 having a minimum curvature, it is possible to smoothly open and close the shutter even when the curvature of the guide rail 4 is varied along the sliding direction of the shutter panel 10.

Abstract: A pivoting bracket for connecting adjacent panels of an articulated door. The pivoting bracket has a generally cylindrical base and an arm rigidly connected to and extending from the base. The arm has a mounting face on a base side which is generally parallel to a tangent to the base. A recess extends into at least one end of the base, generally co-axially therewith, for receiving a guidewheel shaft. The pivoting bracket interacts with adjacent articulated door panels to mount the panels to a guide track and allow articulated movement without requiring or modifying a conventional hinge. The arm has a first part proximal the base and a second part distal the base. The second part is securable to an upper articulated door panel. The base extends into a channel provided on a rearward face of a lower articulated panel. The base form of the arm pivots and interlocks itself relative to the channel while the door articulates.

Abstract: The invention relates to a shutter for closing openings with pivotal shutter elements, the rotational axes of which are arranged parallel to each other. Better sealing is achieved in that the shutter elements consist of at least two wings that are solidly joined together and arranged almost parallel to each other. The wings of the shutter elements are oriented substantially parallel to the plane of the opening, thus closing it on both sides, in a first position and substantially normal to the plane of the opening, thus clearing said opening, in a second position.

Abstract: A drive mechanism for use with an overhead shaft of a sectional door for raising and lowering the door via a rotation of the overhead shaft. The drive mechanism has a support structure, a first gear, a drive shaft, a second gear, a pocket wheel and an actuator. The second gear is interconnected to the first gear so that a rotation of the second gear is transmitted to the first gear and vice versa. The pocket wheel is operable between first and second positions. The second gear is rotatable along a first direction corresponding to a raising of the sectional door and along an opposite second direction corresponding to a lowering of the sectional door. The actuator is used for rotating the pocket wheel about the drive shaft, operating the pocket wheel between the first and second positions, and driving the second gear along the first and second directions when the pocket wheel is in the second and first positions respectively.

Abstract: An overhead door and associated mating panels include enhanced wear surfaces and protection against the intrusion of climatic elements or the like in the form of a combined weather seal, light block and wear insert on the upper and/or lower edges of the mating adjacent door panels. The wear surfaces are utilized during the opening and closing of the door so that frictional interaction or rubbing between the mating edges is minimized to reduce wear and damage to the panels over the service life of the door. Additionally, the wear insert portion reduces a gap between the mating edges of the adjacent panels to provide enhanced protection without requiring increased roll forming tolerances on the panel manufacturing process. Moreover, the invention includes upright projecting weather seal and light blocking portions that are positioned in a gap formed at the juncture of the mating panels. The flange is used for transferring a torque between the torsion spring and the overhead shaft when the flange is securely fixed about the overhead shaft. The plug further includes a shouldering floor of a given length faced against the hooking slot and extending inside the collar, from the second portion towards the first portion thereof, between the collar and the overhead shaft.

  • Patent number: 6363993
The base of the arm pivots and interlocks itself relative to the channel while the door articulates.

Abstract: Guide track assemblies for upward acting doors include identical vertical and horizontal linear track sections and a curvilinear transition track section. The linear track sections include spaced-apart elongated slots formed at acute angles with respect to the longitudinal extent of the track sections for cooperation with retainer members mounted on angle-shaped jamb brackets. A header bracket also includes one or more retainer members thereon for disposition in similar elongated slots formed in the curvilinear track section. The linear track sections fit in telescoping relationship within enlarged end portions of the curvilinear track section. The configurations of the header brackets, jamb brackets and track sections facilitate quick assembly and easy positional adjustment of the track sections with respect to a door opening covered by a door guided by the track assemblies.

Abstract: A sectional upward acting door includes interconnected door panels which are formed with generally planar outer and inner wall parts and upper and lower edges which cooperate to provide a pinch resistant joint between door panels when they are pivoted relative to each other. Spaced apart snap together hinge assemblies and snap in place guide roller support brackets may be used to assemble the door by moving the panels into assembly with each other between the door guide tracks. The panel edge profiles are formed by a convex surface on an upper edge of one panel and a cooperating concave multiple planar segment surface on the lower edge of the adjacent panel. An elongated seal strip may be secured in a groove in the lower edge of one panel and engageable with the apex of the upper edge of the adjacent panel.
