Cutter Element Substantially Longitudinally Movable On Shaft Patents (Class 175/288)
  • Patent number: 9121239
Abstract: A device for anchoring in a casing in a borehole in the ground. The device comprises a shaft oriented in an axial direction, the shaft having a torque transfer section. The torque transfer section has axially oriented outer cam surfaces extending radially outwardly in a rotational sense. The shaft further has a plurality of clamping bodies circumferentially distributed around the torque transfer section with a limited movability relative to the torque transfer section in rotational sense and in radial directions. The clamping bodies each have an inner, axially oriented clamping body surface facing one of the cam surfaces of the torque transfer section and an outer surface defining a segment of a cylinder coaxial with said shaft.

  • Patent number: 8939236
Abstract: A status indicator for determining a position of an extendable member in an expandable apparatus. The status indicator is configured to decrease a cross-sectional area of a portion of a fluid path extending through an expandable causing a pressure of a fluid within the fluid path to increase when an extendable member of the expandable apparatus is in an extended position. By determining the pressure of the fluid within the fluid path, one can determine the position of the status indicator within the fluid path and thereby determine whether the extendable member of the expandable apparatus is in the extended or a retracted position.

  • Patent number: 8863863
Abstract: An undercutting tool for producing transverse grooves in a drilled hole. An upper support and a lower support axially delimit a receiving region of a shank. At least two spreading elements are disposed in the receiving region between the spreading elements and the receiving region. The shank and the supports are disposed so the axial distance between the supports can be reduced by exerting an axial force. The spreading elements each have an oblique upper and lower end face, which each have such an outer geometric shape, extending in a direction not perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and are displaced in substantially opposite radial directions, and the axial force is in each case converted to a radial force in the radial directions.

  • Patent number: 8820007
Abstract: A post sleeve installation assembly includes: an elastomeric sleeve core shaped to form a post sleeve when positioned in uncured concrete, a removable stiffener inside the core, an aperture extending lengthwise in the stiffener, a locking element positioned within the core, and an assembly plate coupled to the stiffener. The assembly plate clamps to a prefabricated sleeve element, with the core and stiffener positioned within a post cavity of the sleeve element. an installation stake is positioned in the aperture and prevented from sliding upwards by the locking element. A release point on the assembly plate permits an operator to release the locking element for removal of the stake. To install a post sleeve, the operator positions the installation assembly, clamped to a prefabricated sleeve element, in a post hole with the stake resting on the bottom, then fills the hole with concrete, manipulating the stake to position the assembly.

  • Patent number: 6591922
Abstract: An underreamer for forming a cavity within a well bore may include a housing rotatably disposed within the well bore. The underreamer may also include an actuation rod slidably positioned in the housing. The underreamer may further include a plurality of cutter sets nested together around the actuation rod while the cutter sets are in a retracted position where each cutter set is pivotally coupled to the housing and the actuation rod. The cutter sets are also pivotally coupled together. An axial force applied to the actuation rod operates to slide the actuation rod relative to the housing and extend the cutter sets radially outward relative to the housing to form the cavity when the housing is rotated.

  • Patent number: 5070951
Abstract: A rotary well drilling unit, particularly for water wells, comprises a tubular rotatable drill string string through which water is pumped. Attached to the lower end of the drill string is a drill head having side-by-side cutter blades. The cutter blades are cammed radially outwardly to expand in diameter when the drill string is lowered to drill a hole sized to receive a well casing lowered behind the drill, and are cammed radially inwardly so as to contract in diameter to clear the casing when the string is lifted. The same drill may be used for drilling wells of different diameters by merely substituting cutter blades.

  • Patent number: 4915181
Abstract: A tubing bit opener is disclosed having upper and lower cutters with the lower cutters being carried by mounting blocks having bevelled edges which are received in matching undercut grooves in the tubing bit opener. The upper cutters are attached to arms which are slidable within inclined pockets of the tubing bit opener for inward and outward movement relative to the tubing bit opener. Both the mounting blocks carrying the lower cutters and the arms carrying the upper cutters are easily removable for maintenance and repair. The lower mounting blocks are held securely in place by the drill body. Because the surfaces of the lower mounting blocks extend laterally along a considerable extent of the adjacent lowr cutters, the cutters are supported for stable rotation without vibration. The tubing bit opener is typically used to sink six inch diameter or larger caissons in any rock formation on land or under water.
