  • Publication number: 20030141151
Abstract: A system for detecting liquid in an inground lift has a tube with an open end disposed within the internal cavity defined by the containment housing of the inground lift. The tube is in fluid communication with a source of pressurized gas. A pressure sensor generates a signal if the pressure within the air line exceeds a predetermined level, which occurs if the end is blocked by liquid. A control system is configured to respond to the signal.

  • Patent number: 6364060
Abstract: A low profile lift apparatus including a lift platform which accommodates manufactured product on a support surface thereof and elevationally lifts the manufactured product to a vertical level or elevation generally coplanar with an elevated surface on an adjacent pallet is disclosed. The low profile lift apparatus includes a base adapted to rest on a floor with the lift platform interconnected to the base for movement between raised and lowered positions. In a lowered position, a lower surface of the lift platform rests on the floor to provide the lift assembly with a low profile. The lift apparatus of the present invention further includes an apparatus for moving the platform relative to said base. Such apparatus preferably includes circuitry for selectively moving the lift platform in a controlled fashion relative to the base.

  • Patent number: 6315079
Abstract: A lifting device having separately displaced lifting column with a carriage controllably driven in a longitudinal direction. Connecting lines connect the control of the column. The connecting lines function as part of a digital data bus in order to exchange digital control signals with each lifting column having a separate operation device connected to the connecting lines to provide simultaneous actuation of the control of all lifting columns.

  • Patent number: 6279685
Abstract: A twin post lift has a master and slave cylinder system in which the maser and slave cylinders each drive a lifting carriage, and each of the lifting carriages is mounted within, and is restricted to longitudinal travel within, an upright member. In the event that there is a loss of pressure in the hydraulic system under load, it is important that the lift be prevented from descending unexpectedly, or uncontrolledly. The upright can be manufactured in the form of a roll formed channel section. The legs of the channel section are formed to define guides for guide followers mounted on the lifting carriage, thereby restraining the travel of the lifting carriages to travel in the vertical direction. The lifting carriage has a rack formed on its back face. The rack is nested within the upright member and is not visible in use. The back of the channel is formed with an outwardly protruding step to accommodate the rack.

  • Patent number: 6273215
Abstract: A multiple vehicle position cantilevered lift comprising a stiff support for a cantilevered lift, said support being sized so as to be resistant to twist and torque loads, said support having a base plate with openings for selective alignment with openings provided in a concrete floor or footing, the openings in said floor having disposed therein an anchoring member comprising a compressible sleeve having a predetermined diameter and a threaded piston, having a predetermined diameter slightly larger than the cylinder and being contained in said sleeve and having a threaded internal or interior wall for receiving an anchor bolt and having a substantially tapered outer wall wherein as the bolt is fastened to a predetermined torque, the piston rises in the sleeve and expands the sleeve compressing the sleeve outwardly against the concrete surrounding the opening to anchor the sleeve and the bolt in the base plate, said support including framework to movably engage and support at least one cantilevered vehicle li

  • Patent number: 5954160
Abstract: A wheel engaging vehicle lift for raising a vehicle relative to the ground and for supporting the vehicle in a raised position includes first and second support columns standing vertically upward from the ground. A first carriage is movably attached to the first support column and a second carriage is movably attached to the second support column. A first pair of arms extend away from the first carriage and a second pair of arms extend away from the second carriage, wherein the first and second pairs of arms are each rotatable about a substantially vertical axis proximate to a first end of the arms. A wheel engaging adapter may be removably secured proximate to an opposite end of the first and second pairs of arms, wherein the adapters are each rotatable about a substantially vertical axis proximate to the second end. The structure of the invention enables a conventional two-post frame engaging lift to be easily and readily converted into a two-post wheel engaging vehicle lift, and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 5860491
Abstract: A high pressure, low volume hydraulic lift system and a method for retrofitting a low pressure high volume lift system are provided. The lift system includes a low pressure high volume (LPHV) casing within which is mounted a high pressure ram. The ram is equipped to move a plunger in an axial direction with respect to the casing, without the need for any further reinforcement of the existing casing. The method for retrofitting is effected by removing the pre-existing structure of the LPHV system, cutting a hole in the upper portion of the pre-existing casing, and draining all hydraulic fluid. Thereafter, the pre-existing gland flange and plunger are removed. A high pressure low volume hydraulic cylinder and associated hydraulic line, are then installed in the casing of the pre-existing system. The bottom of the high pressure hydraulic cylinder is mechanically locked to the base of the pre-existing outer casing.

  • Patent number: 5645388
Abstract: A jack-like elevator for use inside a storage hangar, that lifts a small aircraft in cantilevered fashion above the ground so that another small aircraft can be parked underneath it. The elevator includes an upright column, freely standing on an enlarged base plate, and maintained in upright condition by a pair of horizontal diverging support legs integral to the base plate. A guide mechanism using rails and guide wheels running on the rails, is used to move the plane vertically along a telescopic ram mounted inside the upright column.
