  • Patent number: 10594188
Abstract: A motor assembly includes a shaft, an electric motor operatively connected to the shaft to drive the shaft in a first rotational direction, a clutch assembly connected to the shaft, and a fan connected to the clutch assembly and configured to supply the electric motor with cooling air. The clutch assembly drives the fan when the electric motor drives the shaft and allows the fan to freewheel in the first rotational direction when the electric motor is not driving the shaft. A method of operating a fan cooled electric motor includes energizing the electric motor to drive a shaft in a first rotational direction using the electric motor and de-energizing the electric motor so that it no longer drives the shaft, allowing the fan to freewheel in the first rotational direction.

  • Patent number: 9993911
Abstract: The jaw easily allows an insert to be installed or removed. Roughly circular, an insert will be held captive by the pins or semi-circles in the jaw engaging with a groove in the inserts circumference. This will allow the insert to rotate even with a part of its circle not engaged. This will allow an insert to be open ended. This open ended feature will allow this tool to rotate a fastener like a nut even if the end of the threaded portion, perhaps a bolt, cannot be accessed. Once installed the insert will be able to be turned in a circular motion with heavy torque by either manual or powered means.

  • Patent number: 9618060
Abstract: A rotation transmission device is configured such that when an electromagnet of an electromagnetic clutch is energized, a control retainer of a two-way clutch is moved in the axial direction, so that the control retainer and a rotary retainer rotate relative to each other in the direction in which the circumferential widths of pockets decrease, thereby disengaging pairs of rollers from an outer ring and an inner ring. A spring holder is provided which is fixed to an input shaft and kept in abutment with an axial end surface of the inner ring to prevent relative rotation between the control retainer and the rotary retainer in the direction in which the circumferential widths of the pockets decrease, from the neutral position of the rollers. The spring holder is prevented from axial movement to prevent untimely engagement of the two-way clutch. The inner ring is integral with the input shaft.

  • Patent number: 8789413
Abstract: A unidirectional clutch assembly for coupling an input shaft to a driven shaft, uses an internal shaft positioned within a moveable clutch disc and a stationary clutch disc. The moveable disc has an engaging element for releasably engaging the internal shaft when the moveable clutch disc is rotated in a primary rotation direction by the driven shaft. The stationary clutch disc has a second engaging element for releasably engaging the internal shaft when the internal shaft is rotated relative to the stationary clutch disc in the opposite direction. When the driven shaft rotates in the primary rotational direction, the moveable clutch disc engages, and the stationary clutch disc disengages, the internal shaft, allowing it to rotate freely in the primary rotational direction. When the driven shaft rotates in the opposite direction, the moveable clutch disc disengages, and the stationary clutch disc engages, the internal shaft preventing its rotation.
