  • Patent number: 7663076
Abstract: The invention relates to conductive materials particularly to serve as a heater. Heating means formed by or with electrically conductive materials are known and particularly effective for its flexibility is that sold under the British, Community and US Registered Trade Mark INDITHERM. Conductive rails are used to provide electrical connection to a source of power that need to have a commensurate flexibility, and the object of the invention is to ensure the maintenance of power to the full length of the conductive rail. This objective, is met by a construction comprising spaced first rails for the supply and return of electrical power, the said rails having a flexibility compatible with the semi-conductive material, and there being a supplementary rail attached to each first rail along the length thereof, the supplementary rails being flexible and having strength characteristics greater than those of the first rails.

  • Patent number: 7638735
Abstract: Systems and methods for pulse electrothermal and heat-storage ice detachment. A pulse electrothermal ice detachment apparatus includes one or more coolant tubes, and optionally, fins in thermal contact with the coolant tubes. The tubes and/or fins form a resistive heater. One or more switches may apply electrical power to the resistive heater, generating heat to detach ice from the tubes and/or the fins. A freezer unit forms a heat-storage icemaking system having a compressor and a condenser for dissipating waste heat, and coolant that circulates through the compressor, the condenser and a coolant tube. The coolant tube is in thermal contact with an evaporator plate. A tank, after the compressor and before the condenser, transfers heat from the coolant to a heating liquid. The heating liquid periodically flows through a heating tube in thermal contact with the evaporator plate, detaching ice from the evaporator plate.

Abstract: An improved dry heat method and apparatus for thawing frozen biological fluids utilizing electrically heated plates and oscillatory motion to enhance heat transfer by mixing as the fluid thaws. Bags of frozen fluid to be thawed are lightly squeezed between two heating plates, one of which is gently oscillated to facilitate mixing of the thawing fluid, increasing heat transfer and reducing time required for thawing. Direct contact of the heating plates against the bag surfaces increases heat transfer by eliminating insulative effects of another bag wall and a water boundary layer, compared to water bath units. Flat (or curved to conform to bag) heat pipes are preferred as heating plates compared to plain aluminum sheet. Flat heat pipes have the property of an isothermal heating surface, thus maximizing heat transfer to the coldest areas, preventing hot spots, and simplifying heating plate temperature control.

Abstract: The objective of the present invention is to provide a heater wherein it is easy to forcibly cool the remaining heat of a heating element, wherein it is easy to control the resistance value of the heating element, wherein the temperature of the periphery does not become lower than a set value and wherein no cracks are generated by rapid temperature rising and rapid temperature falling. The present invention provides a ceramic heater comprising a ceramic substrate and a resistance heating element formed on the surface of the ceramic substrate, wherein the outermost circumference of a resistance heating element- formed area is located within 35 mm from the side face of the ceramic substrate.

Abstract: A laser sintering method and apparatus has a material on a substrate. A laser is used for completely sintering the material and enhancing adhesion of the material to the substrate without damaging the substrate. Any computing device may receive and process data and automatically control the sintering operation. A protective layer may be provided on the substrate. The substrate may be a low temperature substrate and the protective layer may be a protective thermal barrier which prevents damage to the substrate during sintering and also enhances adhesion of the material to the substrate. The substrate, the material, and the protective thermal barrier may be formed as an electronic component. A feedback control system coupled to the computer provides information to the computer for processing and controlling output of the laser. The material on the substrate may have any shape. The substrate may also have any shape.

  • Patent number: 6395648
Abstract: A wafer processing system which requires no isolation between the operational areas within the processing system. The system of the present invention includes operational areas, such as a loading area, a transport area, and a reactor or thermal processing area. Advantageously, since there are no isolation devices or gate valves separating the areas, the processing system effectively has each operational area combined into a “single” chamber. Preferably, the single chamber has a single slit valve, hinge door, or other vacuum sealable door disposed proximate to the loading area to allow for the removal/insertion of the wafers into the loading area. Once the door to the loading area has been closed the internal pressure within the chamber can be kept uniform throughout each operational area.

Abstract: To make it possible to provide high quality heating or warming with low environmental pollution for a low environmental pollution vehicle such as an electric vehicle or a hybrid vehicle, an automotive air-conditioning apparatus has a hot water circuit that includes a hot water heater (heat source unit), a hot water circulating pump and a heater core to thereby perform a heating operation for heating passenger compartment air wherein, an electric motor is excited under the condition that the rotation thereof is fixed to thereby generate heat in the electric motor. The generated heat is utilized as a heat source for the hot water heater. The restricting mechanism may include two electric motors which are rotated in opposite directions to each other or a lock mechanism.
