Abstract: A can end for a two-piece beverage container has a curl positioned about a longitudinal axis which defines an outer perimeter of the can end. A circumferential wall angles downwardly and radially inwardly relative to a radially inner portion of the curl. A strengthening member extends radially inwardly relative to the circumferential wall. A center panel extends radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis towards the strengthening member and has a diameter greater than 87.7% of an overall diameter of the can end. A frangible score and a hinge portion define an openable tear panel in the center panel. A stay-on tab is attached to the center panel and has a nose portion overlying the tear panel opposite a lift end of the tab.

Abstract: A safe device for a squeezable container includes a protective cover, a body, and a bottom cap. The protective cover includes an idle cap, an inner cap, and a mouthpiece. The idle cap is rotatably mounted around the inner cap. The body includes a compartment for receiving a squeezable container. A plurality of non-return blocks are formed on an outer periphery defining an upper opening of the body and meshable with non-return blocks on the mouthpiece to prevent the mouthpiece from disengaging from the container. The bottom cap is engaged in and seals a lower opening of the body. A rotational force applied to the idle cap can only be transmitted to the inner cap when a force greater than a predetermined magnitude is applied to move the idle cap downward to tightly engage with the outer periphery of the inner cap.

These features of the SSRIL further create an insulating barrier to keep a cup's fluid hotter or cooler for a longer period of time, enhanced by using an appropriate insulating material combined with finite number of transfer holes that are of a specific shape and/or specific location and/or specific orientation to promote the formation of a surface tension film of fluid across the transfer holes, creating additional barriers against the escape and exchange of both fluid and vapor outside the cup.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an assembly for the storage and distribution of solid loosely packed products unit by unit. The assembly generally comprises a storage container, a sealing means and a discharge control device inserted into the neck of the container to permit the passage of the products to be distributed. Inviolability and sealing of the container are achieved by means of a peelable heat seal, sealed thermally onto at least one surface defined by an annular, peripheral surface of the neck of the container and/or all or part of an upper surface of the device and/or a surface of a distribution opening.

Abstract: There are provided a system and a method for implementing a normally-closed but openable closure device (20) for a fluid-retaining container (10) having a container orifice (11). The closure device prevents unintentional spilling of substance out of an opening, which is disposed in fluid communication with the orifice, by urging a lid (32) to seal the opening closed. For retrieval of substance out of the container, a member of a flow control implement, such as pertaining to a faucet (60) for example, is introduced into the closure device. The introduction of the implement forces the lid open, and allows retrieval of substance out of the container.

Abstract: A closure for a container is injection moulded from plastics material and comprises (a) a body 61 that has a top wall 5 that has a central opening 7 and (h) a cap 9 that closes the opening 7 when the closure in an operative position on the container. The closure also comprises a region of reduced wall thickness 11 that defines a fracture line that facilitates separation of the cap from the closure. The cap 9 has two diametrically opposed inwardly projecting tabs 23 that cause a greater amount of post-moulding shrinkage than the adjacent parts of the cap after injection moulding of the closure. Consequently, the tabs 23 place a section of the region of reduced wall thickness that in alone to the tabs 23 in tension whereby this section preferentially fractures when a person applies force to separate the cap from the closure.

The fuel cap assembly permits transfer of fuel from a storage vessel such as a gas canister to a fuel tank equipped with the cap assembly in a manner which prevents escape and spillage of liquid fuel and vapors. Fuel is introduced from a supply canister or other source via a hose and coupling releasably matable with the self-sealing coupling on the cap assembly, without removal of the cap assembly. The indicator visibly indicates when the tank is full.

Abstract: A single serving beverage container has a body with a first end and an opposite second end that is relatively smaller than the first end. The first end is open and the second end is closed. The body defines an interior cavity of a predetermined volume for containing a beverage. A protective film is removably mounted to a rim at the first end and forms a liquid-tight seal therewith. The container includes an end cap having a first mounting structure for detachably mounting the end cap to the first end of the body when in a first assembled condition, and a second mounting structure for detachably mounting the end cap to the second end of the body when in a second assembled condition. When in the first assembled condition, the end cap does not interfere with the protective film.

Abstract: A one-piece disposable cup lid enables drinking while inhibiting splashing and spilling by blocking straight-line paths through the lid and dispensing beverage through a well. A drinking spout can include a well having a sidewall, a bottom and a penetration into the cup, or a sloping lid section can intersect a raised rim to create a well therebetween, with a penetration in the sloping section or the rim configured to block straight-line paths, for example by upwardly hinging of a flap or depressing half of a split, convex bubble. Embodiments include baffles that force a beverage to flow through a convoluted path and/or through chambers before being consumed. Baffles can be formed in place, or by hinged movement of flaps after forming. Textures and/or protruding structures can intercept, direct, and/or influence surface tension as beverage flows across surfaces. Vent hole sizes and locations can further limit flow and spilling.
