Abstract: A container comprises a storage compartment and a lid. The storage compartment may be formed of plastic, and may include indicia of measuring. The lid may be removably attached to the storage compartment by a latching mechanism. The latching mechanism may be sturdy enough to contain the contents of the storage compartment, even when those contents are substantially heavy. The contents of the storage compartment may pass through an opening in the lid. The opening may be covered by a removably attached closure, and the closure may include indicia of measuring. The closure may thus be removed from the lid, and used as a measuring device. A scoop may be removably attached to the inside of the lid, may include indicia of measuring, and may be used as a measuring device.

Abstract: A method of making an easy open end for a container includes steps of providing a can end blank having an end panel and forming the can end blank in a series of forming operations that are performed with specialized and unique tooling. The can end is preferably shaped during the forming operations so that a major portion of the end panel is curved. Specifically, the curvature is preferably such that a top surface of the major portion is generally concave and a bottom surface of the major portion is generally convex. The end panel is also preferably shaped and constructed so that the curved major portion will invert in shape upon the application of a sufficient predetermined pressure differential between the top and bottom surfaces. A method of testing a fill level of a sealed container is performed in reliance on this “cricketing” or “oil canning” effect.

Abstract: Drinking cup lids are especially adapted and configured to afford some measure of protection to the game piece from beverage seepage through a straw opening. Preferably, the cup lid is configured so that a game piece is spaced above the straw opening co-located within a recessed well of the lid thereby allowing beverage seepage to remain physically separated from the game piece. Access to the beverage within the cup is facilitated by providing a cross-cut straw aperture in the game piece which is in substantial alignment to the straw opening formed in the lid. A beveled segment of a raised plateau on which the game piece is affixed allows a tab associated with the game piece to be more easily grasped and removed by a customer to reveal the printed text/indicia of the game piece.

Abstract: A lids for a child's drinking cup has a projection extending integrally from an underside of the lid, the projection defining, in an upper surface of the lid body, a straw receptacle. The projection defines a plurality of break lines, such as slits, terminating at break line ends and defining separable segments of the projection. The break line ends are spaced from the base of the projection in a region of the straw receptacle having a cross-section approximately equal in extent to a cross-section of a corresponding drinking straw, such that inserting the straw into the straw receptacle and through the projection forces the projection segments apart, the segment bases engaging an outer surface of the inserted straw to inhibit leakage. Some of the projections include molded stiffening ribs.

  • Patent number: 7160590
Abstract: A multilayer web article, including a first layer of a porous material, e.g., Tyvek® film, and a second layer overlying and sealed to the first layer. The second layer is non-porous to passage of gas therethrough and includes a peelable film, e.g., of polyethylene, in contact with the first layer of porous material. The peelable film permits peeling removal of the second layer from the first layer to expose the first layer of porous material for passage of gas therethrough. In a specific construction, the web article constitutes one of opposedly facing panels of a lay-flat bag article, in which the facing panels are bonded to one another along superposed edges thereof. After pressurization integrity testing of the bag, the peelable film is peeled away to enable steam - and/or ETO-sterilization of the bag and its contents to be carried out.
