A waste supporting platform is located within the housing and is pivotally connected adjacent its front edge to the opposite side walls for pivotal movement about a horizontal axis. A front wall extends upwardly from the front edge of the platform and has a top edge level with the top of the side walls in the closed position. A connecting member is pivotally connected to a rear portion of the platform and to a rear portion of the underside of the lid to cause upward opening movement of the lid to pivot the platform upwardly about its pivotal connection to the side walls with resultant forward pivotal movement of the front wall to facilitate access to the interior of the container.

  • Patent number: 5255812
Abstract: A container cap for vise with a self-heating tin container having a chemical compound on one end for releasing heat upon mixing with a liquid catalyzer. The container cap has an annular groove on the bottom around the border into which a peripheral flange on a self-heating tin container is inserted for positioning, a pointed member on the inside surface of the elastic top edge thereof, a film covering covered over the pointed member to hold a liquid catalyzer. Pressing the elastic top edge of the container cap against the tin container to which the container cap is fastened causes the pointed member to pierce the film covering permitting the liquid catalyzer to flow out of the container cap for mixing with the chemical compound in the tin container.

  • Patent number: 5228591
Abstract: A multi-compartment trash container that comprises two main components. An inner core consists of a circular bottom plate with a convex surface sloped downward toward the perimeter of the container and several vertical baffles connected to a common vertical shaft extending upward from the center of the bottom plate, so that wedge-like sections with slanted bottoms are formed around the vertical axis of the container. An outer cover consists of a conforming bottomless cylindrical structure having a top end with openings corresponding to the sections in the inner core and a collar at the center for slidably engaging the top of the vertical shaft in the inner core. Thus, the outer cover is slidably mounted on the inner core to form a container with multiple enclosed compartments and a spring-loaded push-plate is provided at the top of the shaft to push the inner core downward with respect to the outer cover.

  • Patent number: 5163574
Abstract: A pedal trash receptacle intended for use in public places including restaurants, which allows two-handed handling of food trays. The trash receptacle utilizes a push-pull, or Bowden type cable connected between a foot pedal and a pivotally mounted door to cause opening of the door by actuation of the foot pedal. The trash receptacle comprises an upper portion which is hinged to a lower main portion so that the upper portion can be flipped open to permit insertion and removal of trash bags. When the top is closed the trash receptacle permits trash to be deposited through a door mounted and hinged in the upper portion of the trash receptacle. Stepping on the foot pedal causes the door to open inwardly permitting trash to be deposited inside the receptacle. When the foot pedal is released the door is closed by the action of springs. The trash receptacle also permits trash to be deposited by pushing the door open by hand.
