Abstract: A device for closing and opening the cover on the top of a grain bin. The closing device includes a cap hinged to the bin and having a linkage connected to the cap; the linkage being operable from a location on the ground adjacent the bin.

Abstract: A lid opener apparatus is provided for use with a relatively large storage bin, and comprises a handle and structure for mounting and supporting the handle at a convenient height for manipulation by an operator. The mounting and support structure includes a first elongate link which has one end thereof pivotally mounted to the handle and the other end thereof pivotally mounted at a fixed location relative to the bin. A first elongate rod-like member is pivotally mounted to the same end of the link which receives the handle and extends upwardly to an area adjacent the top of the bin. A second rod-like member is pivotally coupled at one end thereof to the lid and extends outwardly to an area adjacent the uppermost end of the first rod-like member.

Abstract: A box with an integral hinged lid is formed from a blank, typically by folding the blank about an open-ended inner wrapper containing the article to be packaged. Prior to opening of the package the lid is joined to the front of the package by integral connecting member which are easily broken. The lid is defined, in part, by lateral tabs of triangular shape and a narrow tab of trapezoidal shape which, during folding of the blank, serve to fold the open end of the inner wrapper.

Abstract: A tarp assembly for covering an open top of a truck trailer has a tarp with a longitudinal edge fixed to one side of the trailer. A roll bar secured to the free edge of the tarp is rotated with a crank rod to roll the tarp to an open position and unroll the tarp to a closed position. A hold bar fixed to the free edge of the tarp with a plurality of straps is adapted to engage hooks secured to a side of the trailer to hold the tarp in a closed position. The hooks guide the straps and retain the hold bar in alignment for mutual engagement with the hooks.

Abstract: A multiway gravity box and door assembly is capable of selectively storing, transporting and/or dispensing different particulate solid materials. The gravity box has a partition wall to separate the box into two separate compartments each of which communicates with a separate discharge opening from the gravity box. First and second doors are slidably movable in the respective openings and a third outer door overlies the first and second doors and is also slidably movable. Pins are selectively positionable to engage the outer door and either one or both of the first and second doors to selectively open or close the first and second doors when the outer door is opened or closed.

Abstract: This invention relates to a ground actuated lid operating system including (1) a pressure release lid apparatus operable to selectively open and close a pressure lid member to release fluid pressure from the interior of a silo structure; and (2) an entrance lid closure apparatus operable to open and close a closure lid member without leaving the area of the support surface adjacent the silo structure. The pressure release lid apparatus has the pressure lid member biased to a closed positive seal condition and opened through the use of a lid actuator assembly and lid linkage assembly which is operable from a position adjacent to a side wall of the silo structure not requiring the climbing thereof. The entrance lid closure apparatus is provided with an axially movable closure lid member which is movable from the open condition to add granular materials to the silo structure and laterally and subsequently downwardly to a positive sealed position about a silo entrance opening.

Abstract: An improved container for the storage and dispensing of fluids comprising a substantially rigid support container having a pouring and receiving mouth, a collapsible, fluid impermeable container disposed within and supported by the support container, the collapsible container communicating with the mouth of the support container, and primary sealing assembly supported by the support container and movable between a first position for selectively opening the collapsible container and a second position for closing or sealing the collapsible container. A handle assembly for the support container is also provided, the handle assembly having an elongated upper segment substantially normally disposed to a central elongated axis of the support container and adapted to receive the primary sealing assembly of the container.

Abstract: The top closure of the present invention comprises a flexible sheet member sized to fit in covering relation over a top opening of a box. One edge of the sheet member is attached to the upper edge of one of the box walls. At least one track is positioned at one of the opposite ends of the box and an elongated shaft extends between the two opposite ends of the box. The tracks guide the shaft from an open position adjacent one edge of the box to a closed position adjacent the other upper edge of the box. The flexible sheet member is rolled around the shaft when the shaft is in its open position, and the sheet member unrolls from the shaft as the shaft rolls towards its closed position. When the shaft reaches its closed position, it engages a plurality of flaps which are mounted along the edge of the box. These flaps wrap around the shaft as the shaft rotates, and become attached to the shaft, thereby fastening the shaft to the sidewalls of the box with the tarpaulin in covering relationship over the opening.

Abstract: The improvement in a gravity box farm wagon of a door opening mechanism for side opening discharge door of the farm wagon includes a hand wheel operated spool with cable wrapped around the spool and connected at its opposite ends to the door and a channel member extending vertically from the door.

Abstract: An adapter for a swinging bucket centrifuge rotor includes a slide plate having a retaining lip and a cam surface thereon. Movement of the plate in one direction to a holding position disposes the lip to hold above the rim of a microtube to hold the same in place. Movement in an opposite direction introduces a cam surface between the rim of the tube and a flange on a closure to thereby uncap the same.

Abstract: A container closure comprising a cylindrically shaped, resilient, distortable membrane having a first terminal end fully affixed to the periphery of a first closure body providing a discharge aperture of predetermined size and a second terminal end fully affixed to a second coacting closure body coaxially disposed about the outside periphery of the first closure body and adapted for relative bi-directional rotation with respect to the first closure body. Relative counterrotational movement of the membrane terminal ends in one direction causes closure and sealing of the annular throat inherently created and disposed within the membrane while relative counterrotational movement in a second direction causes the previously closed annular throat to open.

Abstract: A litter bin comprising a heavy base member adapted to rest on the ground, a litter container mounted on said base member through an annular rubber bush and a central bolt connecting the container to the base member and passing through the bush, an upwardly extending support pole secured to the base member, an arm pivotally attached to the top of the pole and having a lid attached to the end thereof at a position which normally is in overlying relationship with the litter container, an actuating mechanism associated with the container whereby the container may be tilted in substantially any direction through said rubber bush connection from its position under said lid to a position in which it is exposed for the receipt of litter or refuse.

Abstract: A container closed by a lid for receiving and compacting waste paper includes a volume-occupying lid (3, 14) which fits inside the container (1, 13). The container (1, 13) defines a chamber large enough to accomodate individual pieces of waste to be deposited and compacted. The lid (3, 14) is retained in the container-closing position.

Abstract: A remotely operable lid for storage bins to be used in conjunction with a storage bin (10) having an access opening (11). A cover plate (18) is carried within a pair of guides (20, 22) such that the plate may be slid laterally in the guides. The guides (20, 22) are held spaced apart by end members (26, 28) which in conjunction with the guides, form a frame. Affixed to the bottom of the frame is a cylindrical band (46) which is sized to accept within a ridge (48) extending upward and around the access opening perimeter of the storage bin. The lid and frame are thus fixed atop the access opening of the bin. Attached to the lid are two eyelets (30, 32) and attached to the frame is a pulley (30). Ropes are attached to the eyelets, one of which is threaded through the pulley. The ropes are extended downward along the side of the bin to ground level.

Abstract: An apparatus for collection of liquid waste solvents into a container, including convenient means for opening and closing the container and for positioning a funnel. Both functions of opening the container and positioning of the funnel are accomplished by a single handed one step operation of a lever, thus leaving the other hand free for pouring of the liquid into the funnel. After pouring the liquid, the container can be sealed by a simple release of the lever.

Abstract: A hanging reaction frame assembly for moving a reaction frame to and from a pressure vessel. The reaction frame is hung from a carriage that moves on tracks spanning a well. The pressure vessel is supported by a scaffold within the well and has a platform that passes through the reaction frame.

Abstract: A lever-actuated closure for bottles or the like containers is described which closure comprises a closing member sealingly mountable on an outlet orifice of the container, an actuating member having a manually operated gripper part and being hingedly mounted below the outlet orifice, and a connecting member hingedly attached to the actuating member and to the closing member at the outside thereof, which closure can be transferred, by means of the actuating member, from an open position, in which the closing member frees the outlet orifice, through elastic deformation of at least one of the parts of the closure via a dead-center position, in which the hinge axis of the actuating member and the two hinge axes of the connecting member are in a common plane, into a closed position, in which the closing member seals the outlet orifice, or vice versa from this closed position into the open position, the gripper part of the actuating member being, in the closed position, above the elastically deformed closing membe

Abstract: Control apparatus used in connection with commodes automatically moves a trip lever for flushing the commode and includes a member adapted to be connected to the trip lever for moving between an initial position and a flushing position to cause the trip lever to raise a drain valve to its open position. A spring moves the member to its flushing position, and a person-operated device causes energy to be stored in the spring and releases subsequently the energy from the spring to move the member toward its flushing position. A latching device connected to the member connects releasably the member and the trip member for moving it and the valve against the force of water pressure acting on the valve until the water pressure equals the force applied by the spring after sufficient water discharge.

Abstract: The filling lid for sealed silos has a base plate adapted to close an inlet in the silo roof, the base plate having an opening therethrough registering with the silo inlet. A filling hopper is provided on the base plate around the opening, the hopper being open at its top to receive the usual gooseneck of a silage blower. A closure plate is hingedly mounted on the underside of the base plate adapted in operative position to cover the opening in said base plate in an airtight manner. Linkage is provided for swinging the closure plate into operative position, including a bell crank lever pivoted on the side of the hopper having one arm disposed substantially vertically when the closure plate is normally hanging freely in inoperative position. The other arm of the bell crank lever extends downwardly and rearwardly and is pivotally connected to the upper end of a link extending downwardly through a slot in the base plate with its other end pivoted to the closure plate.
