  • Patent number: 4643328
Abstract: The device is applicable to the connection of two enclosures, each having a door closing and opening formed in a flange. One of the doors supports a rotary control member having three series of slots forming cams. V-shaped levers articulated to the doors simultaneously cooperate with slots and with the bolts in order to displace the latter between locking and unlocking positions under the action of rotating the member. The configuration of the slots makes it possible to control the locking of the doors to one another and to the flanges in a sequential manner. Preferably, the bolts are inclined in the direction aiding sealing.

  • Patent number: 4627417
Abstract: The invention relates to a steam pressure cooker, which essentially consists of a lower pot and a cover unit sealing the lower pot. The lower pot has a smooth circular pot rim. The cover unit consists of a lower lid and an upper lid. The latter is designed as a sealing element, which engages the lower part of the pot rim by the flanges. As an improvement of this type of pressure cooker, it is proposed that the upper lid contain two half-lids, and that each half-lid be able to rotate about its own axis of rotation essentially parallel to the central axis of the pot (geometrically vertical) relative to the lower lid and lower pot, and further, that the axes of rotation lie eccentric to the pot's central axis and diametrically opposite each other with respect to this axis swivel mechanism rotatably supported concentrically on the lower lid.

Abstract: A door assembly for a sterilizer includes a rectangular door on which is a vertical rail assembly movable horizontally toward and away from the door on threaded posts. Nuts carried by the rail assembly are rotated on the posts by sprockets entraining a motor driven chain. The rail assembly carries spring mounted axially retractable horizontal pairs of locking bars. The bars are inserted into and removed from sockets in a doorway frame by turning angularly as the rail assembly moves horizontally. A pressure responsive locking mechanism engages the sprockets to prevent their turning when the sterilizer is above a predetermined pressure. Cables carried by the locking bars actuate a switch in an alarm circuit for indicating that any one or more bars is not engaged properly in its respective socket. Abstract: Means for hinging or removably attaching a cover to a chassis comprising a retainer device including a pair of arms spring-urged away from one another. The retainer device is fixed to the chassis with the ends of the arms extending outward into openings in the cover. The arms can be manually pinched to disengage them from the cover openings to thereby permit the cover to be removed from the chassis. Utilization of a pair of retainer devices on the chassis enables one of the devices to be disengaged while the other remains engaged to thus hinge the cover relative to the chassis.

  • Patent number: 4140240
Abstract: A closure for a pipe or pressure vessel comprises a door adapted to fit into an aperture in a pipe or pressure vessel and an arcuate locking member disposed around the periphery of the door for locking the door to the pipe or pressure vessel, the ends of the locking member being movable towards and away from each other to cause radial expansion and contraction of the locking member, whereby the locking member is brought into and out of locking engagement with the pipe or pressure vessel. A seal for the closure comprises a rigid, usually annular, support having first and second flanges for engaging respective opposed faces on the closure and the pipe or pressure vessel, the first flange having a greater surface area and being less flexible than the second flange, and a flexible lining carried by the support and extending beyond the terminal edges of the flanges.

  • Patent number: 4132327
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention a hatch cover opening and closing assembly is provided including a locking handle having a yoke pivotably mounted about a vertically extending shaft located in the center portion of the cover. The shaft extends downwardly through a guide which depends from the cover. The guide includes at least one generally vertical indexing slot. Below the cover a laterally extending pin and a plurality of radially extending locking arms are attached to the shaft. A plurality of locking lugs are mounted on the internal surface of the coaming. The shaft is rotatable by the handle to move the locking arms into and out of engagement with the locking lugs. However the pin must be located within the indexing slot to move the locking arms vertically into engagement with the locking lugs. When the shaft is rotated so that the pin is located out of the slot, but in engagement with the guide, the handle may be used to pivot the cover about a hinge into open position.

  • Patent number: 4114779
Abstract: An improved closure assembly for plastic drums is provided which includes female buttress threads formed on a tubular projection of the drum head, and an adaptor inserted into the tubular projection threadably engaging the buttress threads, the adaptor having internal standard pipe threads adapted to receive standard pipe threaded members, like dispensing valves, pump fittings, as well as standard bung plugs. Means are also provided for sealingly isolating the buttress thread inter-engagement to prevent product accumulation therebetween and means are also provided for locking engagement of the adaptor and the tubular projection on the drum.

  • Patent number: 4091962
Abstract: A panel hole closure is composed of a rigid plate having an integral array of resilient fingers projecting from one surface of the plate inboard of the plate rim. A integral stiffener is provided for each finger which stiffens the finger against inward deflection toward the axis of the plate so that once the closure is seated in a panel aperture, it is difficult to dislodge. A plastic sealing ring encircling the plate rim may be melted and flow to provide a fluid-tight seal between the closure plate and panel.

  • Patent number: 4057170
Abstract: A cargo container door construction is disclosed. The construction utilizes a relatively thin sheet metal door skin having a plurality of formed-in longitudinally extending stiffener grooves, with the door edge parallel to the grooves being formed into stiffener edges comprising a lip with a recess on its inner side. One such edge supports hinges which connect with a surrounding frame of a cargo container. The two remaining edges of each door lying perpendicular to the grooves, are each stiffened by an elongated bar and plate which are welded continuously to the edge of the skin and which form closed end walls on the grooves. The bar and plate establish edges which are similar to the lip and recess formed edges and the sides of the door, so that a uniform peripheral edge results. The lip and recess at each edge seat a gasket for sealing the door or pair of doors with a cargo container frame.
