Abstract: A hands-free rescue/carrying apparatus includes at least one body-worn garment having a front facing side and a rear facing side, and at least one adjustable lift mechanism attached to the at least one body-worn garment. The at least one lift mechanism is attachable to an article to be supported and is designed to provide a substantial mechanical advantage as to the weight of the article, when employed. Advantageously, the garment having the at least one lift mechanism permits selective dynamic lift capability of the article to which it is attached and secured in a substantially hands-free manner.

Abstract: A pocket clip is attached at a first end to a tool such as a folding knife. A roller assembly is provided at a second end of the clip with a portion extending toward the tool. The roller assembly includes a ratchet wheel between a pair of elastomeric roller wheels. A pawl engages the ratchet wheel and limits rotation of the roller assembly such that the assembly rotates in one direction around an axis transverse to a longitudinal axis of the tool, and resists rotation in an opposite direction. When the tool is positioned in a user's pocket, a panel of the pocket engages the roller assembly, which rotates substantially freely, permitting the pocket panel to slide easily between the pocket clip and the surface of the tool. However, the roller assembly resists movement of the pocket panel in the opposite direction, holding the tool securely in the pocket.

Abstract: Tool holder devices are provided, which are designed to hold tools having spring clip mechanisms. In one aspect, a tool holder device comprises a guiding portion and a mounting portion. The mounting portion is adapted to engage a spring clip of a tool for mounting the tool. The guiding portion is adapted to guide a spring clip towards the mounting portion as a person slides the tool from the guiding portion to the mounting portion while maintaining contact between the spring clip and the guiding portion.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a portable carrying device that includes a housing, an elongated flexible strap extendable from the housing, and at least one rigid support arm attached to the housing and configured for supporting an article to be carried. The portable carrying device can include a coupler disposed on a first end of the elongated flexible strap and a mating structure disposed on a portion of the housing for releasably securing the coupler. The rigid support arm can be movable from a first position in which the rigid support arm is compactly stored relative to the housing, to a second position in which the rigid support arm is at least partially extended away from the housing. The housing can have at least one recess for receiving the rigid support arm and the rigid support arm can have a shape corresponding to the recess.

Abstract: Side stabilizer bars hold a typical disposable lighter. The side stabilizer bars curve approximately 180 degrees to form a built-in clip, allowing the invention to be secured to a car visor or other object. A compartment for a magnet is provided to allow a magnet to further secure the lighter. A bottom stabilizer is used to hold the bottom of the lighter. The invention adds relatively little mass or size to a lighter.

The apparatus includes a housing defining an inner volume, the housing being couplable to the portable device. The apparatus further includes a retractable fastener having an end region, the end region including an opening for fastening the apparatus to the object, the retractable fastener being slidable within the inner volume. The retractable fastener is positionable at a first position in which the opening is exposed to allow fastening of the apparatus to the object, a second position in which the apparatus is locked to the object and a third position in which the retractable fastener is substantially contained within the inner volume.

Abstract: A belt clip apparatus is provided that attaches to a case for a portable electronic device (e.g., a music player, video player, cell phone, etc.) that both swivels and pivots on two different axes. Such a clip can attach to an article of clothing and allow the user to view the screen and access the controls of an electronic device without having to first remove the device from the article of clothing. In one embodiment, the apparatus can stand on a flat surface in either an angled portrait or landscape orientation when attached to the case, thereby allowing the user to choose the optimal orientation for accessing the controls or viewing a screen on a portable device mounted within the attached case. The angle formed between the case and the belt clip can be varied so that the user can optimize the viewing angle of the attached portable electronic device.

Abstract: The embodiments are directed toward a containment device for attachment to an item of clothing, preferably a shoe. The device comprises a sheet of material folded to form a front portion, a back portion, and a cover piece. The cover piece is connected to one end of the front portion, while the back portion is connected to the other end of the front portion. The cover piece can fold over the distal end of the back portion such that a sleeve is formed wherein an item can be stored. The back portion contains a front surface and a rear surface. The front surface contacts the stored item. The rear surface contains at least one means for attaching the containment device to an item of clothing. The device can also be stitched directly onto an item of clothing.

Abstract: A mobile telephone handset includes an elongated housing having a carabiner latch pivotally attached at a battery door on the rear side of the housing. The carabiner latch includes a hook portion having a spring-biased latch pivotally attached thereto for attaching the latch to a support element, such as a strap, loop or ring attached to a back-pack or other article of wearing apparel. The latch is stored within a door recess that receives the latch for storage purposes. The latch can be swung outwardly away from the housing to a variety of positions. A cylindrical projection is disposed within the door recess for frictionally receiving a central opening of the latch. A finger grip recess disposed within the door facilitates the grasping of the latch when it is disposed within the recess to facilitate swinging it away from the housing and out of the recess.

Abstract: A belt clip mechanism is constructed in a manner to provide a positive lock between a support arm and a securement arm of the clip. The support arm has a top end with a tongue and a bottom end with a barbed flange. The securement arm has a top end with a planar hand and a bottom end with an offset. The support arm includes a pair of opposed bosses near the top end while the securement arm includes a pair of opposed flanges near its top end. The two arms are held together by a shaft that extends through the bosses and flanges. A torsional spring is attached about the shaft to provide biasing of the offset in continuous contact against the barbed flange, thereby forming a positive locking of the securement arm to the support arm. The barbed flange includes a base that flexures upon a downward external force to allow the offset to unseat within the barbed flange as a simultaneous force is applied to squeeze the tongue and planar hand together to overcome the spring bias.

Abstract: A holder device designed for clasping containers of glue and primer used by plumbers for installing and repairing pipes. The main frame of the holder device is a unit member made of flexible material and further comprising a vertical arm and a horizontal member. The vertical arm has an upper end tongue and a free elongated portion at the lower end. The upper end tongue ends with a hook enabling the plumber to adjust the devise on a belt. The holder device also has through rectangular hole in the arm designed for hanging the devise on supporting structures. The clip includes a housing having a cradle for receiving a flange attached to the portable telephone and a back plate closing the housing. A latch inside the housing includes a detent extending through an orifice in the housing wall into the cradle. A displacement tine extends from the release button and includes a displacement ramp for interacting with a lifting slope on the latch. A resiliently flexible tongue also extends to the latch. In use, the release button is pushed and the displacement ramp interacts with the lifting slope to displace the latch and release the device. When the release button is released, the resiliently flexible tongue urges the latch back into the locking position.

The apparatus also includes an attachment mechanism, such as a belt clip, for attaching to a body and a retaining section, the attachment mechanism being integral to the retaining section.
