A buffer can be spring loaded, spring loaded combination, elastomeric or gas, and can be in line or adjacent to a piston chamber. Such sprayers and foamers can be mounted upside down. With a buffer, a piston chamber can deliver a greater amount of liquid per unit time than can be dispensed through the nozzle(s). The fraction of liquid that cannot be dispensed can be sent to the buffer for dispensing after the piston downstroke has completed. Volume of the piston chamber and buffer, pressure response of the buffer, throughput of the nozzle, and the minimum opening pressure of the outlet valve can be arranged to restrict the outlet pressures of liquid droplets exiting the nozzle within a defined range.

Abstract: Devices and methods are provided relating generally to the delivery of fluids in the context of the lawn and garden industry. The devices and methods provide for the delivery of fluids at specified droplet size, pressure, spray pattern, and dispersal location relative to the target. The devices and methods deliver various fluids to a targeted location in a manner that limits the physical exertion typically required of users for such applications and is highly precise and accurate, thus reducing the likelihood and extent of missing the target and wasting expensive resources.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, devices and methods related to paint mist collection during manufacture of packaged radio-frequency (RF) modules. In some embodiments, a mist-collection system can be implemented, where the system includes a platform configured to support a panel having an array of RF modules formed thereon. The system can further include a mist-collector positioned relative to the platform, with the mist-collector having an input in communication with an output. The mist-collector can be configured to provide suction at a region along one or more sides of the platform to thereby capture at least some of a paint mist generated during the paint-spraying process through the input. The system can further include a pump in communication with the mist-collector to provide the suction.

Abstract: A thrust vectoring system is created with a convergent-divergent nozzle having a total angle no greater than 150 degrees. A divergent portion of the nozzle has a wall at a predetermined angle of at least 12° from the freestream direction. A disturbance generator is located on the wall to induce flow separation from the wall with the predetermined wall angle sufficient for the induced flow separation to extend upstream from disturbance generator substantially to a throat of the nozzle pressurizing the wall and creating a net vector angle in jet flow through the nozzle.

Abstract: A pulsating device has a chamber for receiving liquid entering the device and gas that occupies an initial volume in the chamber. The liquid entering the chamber compresses the gas and decreases the volume occupied by the gas, thereby increasing the pressure in the chamber. A valve is provided to open above a first threshold pressure to begin a pulse of liquid. The valve closes below a second threshold pressure to end the pulse. The pulsating device has an outlet gate that permits liquid in the chamber to exit the chamber when the pressure in the chamber is greater than the pressure outside the chamber.

  • Patent number: 8727233
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for starting and stopping a high pressure spray washer having a combustion engine driving a pump to provide high pressure fluid to a spray gun activated by a trigger. Pulling the trigger causes water to flow through the nozzle and pump and a sensor by the pump sends a flow start signal to a control module that activates an electric starter when an engine switch is turned on, thus starting the engine when it wasn't running. When the trigger is released flow to the pump stops and the sensor sends a flow stop signal to the control module. If a predetermined time passes before the sensor detects fluid flow to the pump as occurs when the trigger is pulled, then the engine is shut off. The time can be varied to adjust the time between releasing the trigger and shutting off the engine.

Abstract: A sealed microfluidic conduit assembly is fabricated by forming a joint through which a first conduit fluidly communicates with a second conduit, by bringing the first conduit into contact with the second conduit. A layer of malleable material surrounding one or both conduits is compressed against the joint to fluidly seal the joint, by applying a radial force to an outer surface of a jacket surrounding the conduits and malleable layer. The respective compositions and/or sizes of the first conduit and second conduit may be different.
