  • Patent number: 7568635
Abstract: A system and method is provided for atomizing a liquid without the use of air to atomize the liquid. The system comprises a turbo spray nozzle that has a rotatable shaft. The rotatable shaft has a center bore with an opening at one end to enable a liquid to flow into the center bore of the rotatable shaft. The rotatable shaft also has a plurality of orifices that extend from the center bore to an outer surface of the rotatable shaft at the end opposite the opening. The rotatable shaft is rotated by pressurized air. The rotation of the shaft causes the liquid flowing into the center bore to be induced into a helical flow path that causes the liquid to disassociate. The system may comprise a spray gun coupled to the turbo spray nozzle. The system may also comprise an air compressor to provide the pressurized air to rotate the rotatable shaft. The system may also comprise a container for the liquid hat may be pressurized to provide a motive force to the liquid.

Abstract: A spray nozzle for pop-up underground sprinkler comprises a main fixed body and a revolving ring nut that is associated with the aforesaid main body in order to allow the adjustment of the spray angle. The main body and the ring nut as a whole create an area for the containment of water that communicates with the outside through an adjustable scroll-shaped radial passage. The ring nut in addition forms in communication with the aforementioned area an accumulation chamber in which the water flow is subject to compression for the formation of a uniform output spray.

  • Patent number: 6227454
Abstract: A device for applying night-visible road markings includes a material hopper, a floor gate, a pair of side runners and a plurality of vertically oriented shutters. When the floor gate is moved away from an outlet extending through a bottom side of the hopper, marking material flows from the hopper, through the outlet and onto the surface of a road. The vertically oriented shutters are positioned between the side runners, which serve as side forms for marking material dispensed onto the road surface, and rearwardly of the hopper outlet. The distance between the bottom edges of the shutters and the road surface determines the amount of marking material that passes thereunder, thereby determining the thickness of the road marking. By positioning the shutters at different relative elevations, road markings of various patterns including markings having varying thicknesses across their width can be produced for increased reflectivity of the road markings.

Abstract: A hose nozzle allowing one hand control for water stream pattern and flow rate is disclosed. The hose nozzle has a tubular body having a connector end for mating with the connector end of a hose. A hand grip having a plurality of finger notches is located around the tubular body. The hand grip allows the nozzle to be held between a user's fingers and palm. An outer sleeve member and an annular beveled collar are located in sufficient proximity to the hand grip to allow manual actuation by a user's index finger and thumb. The outer sleeve member and the annular collar may be extended or retracted by rotation. The outer sleeve member has a closed end wall with an aperture. An inner stem is located within the outer sleeve and is in fluid communication with the tubular body. The inner stem has an orifice which allows water to flow out of the inner stem and through the aperture when the outer cylinder is extended.

  • Patent number: 6032870
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for fitting a gas-injecting nozzle in the wall of an installation. The process is characterized in that an external supporting surface (11) whose shape matches the so-called internal supporting surface (12) of the passage (6) provided in the bedding brick is associated with the nozzle (2); the nozzle is placed opposite the passage (6) in the bedding brick: the nozzle (2) is moved in axial translation so as to adjust the position thereof along the longitudinal axis of the passage and move the front face of the nozzle into a desired initial position; the nozzle is locked in this desired initial position; and, at least periodically, the nozzle is inserted further forwards into the passage in the bedding brick in order to compensate the wear in the front face of the nozzle. The invention can be used to prevent clogging, such as in a cement producing plant.

  • Patent number: 6007001
Abstract: A nozzle (10) for emitting water, for the purpose of extinguishing fires for example, generally includes a main housing (12) for housing a barrel (62), a deflector (64), and a carrier (60). The barrel (62) supports the deflector (64) and is disposed inside of the carrier (60). When water is supplied to the nozzle (10), a locking pin (59) engages a helical groove (80) on the carrier (60). When the locking pin (59) is engaged, rotation of a spray ring assembly (18) coaxially installed around the upstream end of the nozzle (10) causes the carrier (60) and the spray ring assembly (18) to translate forward or to retract, depending on the direction of the rotation. When the carrier (60) and the spray ring assembly (18) are translated forward to the jet position, water exits the nozzle (10) as a concentrated jet stream. When the carrier (60) and the spray ring assembly (18) are retracted to the fog position, water exits the nozzle (10) as a less concentrated water spray.
