Including Flow Passage Liner (e.g., Wear Liner) Patents (Class 239/591)
  • Patent number: 4121770
Abstract: A wear-resistant rotor wheel for use as an atomizer wheel for the atomization of slurries of highly abrasive materials or as a rotor wheel in an agigator or pump of the centrifugal type. The cylindrical side wall of the wheel is formed with ejection orifices and defines together with a body of revolution arranged around the wheel hub a bowl-shaped space which is downwardly limited by an annular plate of wear-resistant sintered material covering the wheel bottom. The annular plate is arranged to be spaced from the wheel bottom with its outer circumference sealingly joining the inner side of the side wall, so that solid particles from a slurry are not allowed to enter between the circumference of the plate and the side wall, while the side wall is allowed to follow deflection of the wheel bottom without subjecting the annular plate to deformation forces.

  • Patent number: 4119274
Abstract: A flow diverter located in a cylindrical duct has two opposite side sections of the duct formed of semi-circular cross-section movable between an open position for flow through said cylindrical duct and a closed position where the side sections cooperate to block flow through said duct, said side sections have the same width and both have ends of semi-circular shape; said semi-circular shape having a diameter equal to the width of the section. Pivots extend outwardly from each end of each section and are mounted for pivotal movement in a mounting structure fixed externally of said duct. Said opposite side sections have a cooling liner which has an overlapping sealing arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4070424
Abstract: In order to reduce the electrical resistance of entrained fine particles of fly ash resulting from the burning of low sulfur coal and to enhance the efficiency of their collection by an electrical precipitator means, there is a conditioning of the particles carried in the flue gas stream by having a very fine mist of H.sub.2 SO.sub.4 condensed and adsorbed on the particles themselves. Sulfuric acid is mixed with air in an acoustic nozzle to form a mist having a mean particle size of less than 10 microns which is injected uniformly into the flue gas stream at a zone ahead of the precipitator unit so that the acid can condense on the particles. The acid is preferably transported through the apparatus at ambient temperature and then heated just prior to injection to a temperature less than its vaporization temperature.

  • Patent number: 3979072
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for spreading distributable material, for example, fertilizer, comprising a hopper for the material having a delivery port and a reciprocatorily, swinging pipe-shaped distributor joining said delivery port, more particularly a fertilizer distributor pipe; in practice it has been found that the inner wall of the pipe of a device of the kind set forth is subject to heavy wear due to the heavy frictional forces between the material to be distributed and the inner wall; the invention has for its object to provide a more wear-resistant pipe and provides for this purpose a device comprising a distributor pipe adapted to swing to and fro, in which the inner wall of the pipe is coated with a wear-resistant layer within a region extending from the outlet end to the substantially upright wall portions.

  • Patent number: 3931933
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the pouring of fast foaming reactants which essentially comprises the use of a disposable nozzle liner and a nozzle assembly adapted for use with such a disposable liner. The invention encompasses air flushing the nozzle assembly after each pouring cycle until the foam build-up on the nozzle liner becomes unacceptable. The liner is then replaced and operations are continued.
