Abstract: A clasp for use in attaching two body members together, especially pieces of jewelry, that provides secure attachment. The clasp includes a receptor member having a surface defining a slot and a connector member having a shaft, where the shaft is removably positionable in the slot to releasably connect the connector member to the receptor member. The connector member is moveable from an upright position where it can be inserted and removed from the receptor member, and a second, or seated, position, where it is resiliently restrained by the receptor member. The interaction between the connector member and the receptor member creates a connection that is not easily unintentionally released.

Abstract: A high-security buckle including a pair of flexible side release latches and a third latch accessible on the front of the buckle. A male part of the buckle fits within a tubular body of a female part of the buckle. Disengagement of the male part can be accomplished by squeezing the side release latch catch bodies toward each other while pressing the third catch body into the body of the female part far enough for all three latches to be disengaged simultaneously.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a pinch resistant buckle assembly to reduce the potential for pinching the skin of a person when connecting a female receptacle and a male latch of the assembly. The male latch has an outwardly extending engagement portion which is received by a female receptacle. The female receptacle has a body having a chamber adapted to releasably engage the engagement portion of the male latch. The chamber has an opening at the engagement end of the female receptacle body through which the engagement portion of the latch passes to engage the chamber.A guide shield is located adjacent the opening and extends substantially away from the opening in a direction from which the male latch is inserted. Extending the shield outwardly away from the opening effectively enlarges the area of the opening by providing a larger effective area to guide the engagement portion of the male latch into the opening. The guide shield provides an extended surface leading into the chamber through the opening.

Abstract: The bracelet clasp is of the unfolding buckle type comprising a base (1) and two strips (2, 4) capable of folding down onto the base. A cover (10) held by a push button (12) maintains the clasp in a closed position.The clasp comprises means (13) for the instantaneous raising of the cover (10) when pressure is exerted on the push button (12) to open the clasp.This device avoids a notch locking device which leads to a laborious manoeuvre for opening the clasp. Incidentally, the strands (8, 9) of the bracelet are hinged onto the strips (2, 4) which allows the bracelet to be presented flat.

Abstract: An interchangeable clasp comprising a clasp body having a plurality of interconnecting elements consisting of a spring loaded connector member and a receiving recess. The connector typically comprises a hollow cylindrical sleeve and a rigid rod having an outside diameter less than the inner diameter of the hollow cylindrical sleeve. The rigid rod has a proximal end and an opposite distal end with respect to the hollow cylindrical sleeve. The proximal end is engaged with a spring mechanism within the hollow cylindrical sleeve that biases the distal end of the rod to a distal position and allows for movement of the rod between a proximal and a distal position. The distal end culminates in a head member with exterior dimensions such that the head member is capable of being removably inserted within, and retained by a cap end of the receiving recess. The receiving recess is cylindrical in dimension, has an opening through its outer wall and is capped at opposite ends for engaging the connector.

Abstract: A seat belt buckle system which is easy to engage and disengage includes a plunger section with a cylindrical plunger pin, mounted to a base, which is formed to fit closely within the bore of a receptacle forming part of a receptacle section. The receptacle section also includes a base to which a flexible seat belt can be connected. The buckle is engaged by inserting the plunger pin into a flared entrance end of the receptacle, which guides the leading end of the plunger pin into the bore of the receptacle. The plunger pin is held in place by the engagement of the pin to the internal walls of the receptacle and by engagement of a spring loaded detent ball against the side wall of the plunger pin, the end wall of the plunger pin or an indentation formed in the plunger pin. The bases of the receptacle section and plunger section can be modified to mate with the standard seat belt plunger plate and receiver of conventional seat belt systems to allow retrofitting of such systems.

Abstract: A clasp for connecting the ends of jewelry members is disclosed. The clasp of the present invention comprises an elongated main body member, a cooperating member for detachable connection to the main body member, and securing the cooperating member in the main body member such that the cooperating member does not dissociate from the main body member. The main body member has an aperture in one end and an elongated slot which terminates in an enlarged end on one end and connects to the aperture on the opposite end. The cooperating member has a spherical portion on one end, an eyelet portion on the opposite end, and a shank portion connecting these two portions. In the one embodiment of the present invention, securing is accomplished by a flat spring which is mounted adjacent to the slot in the main body member and extends partially over the slot to bias the cooperating member into the main body member and against the aperture.

Abstract: A harness system for weaving looms wherein neck cords connected to an actuating mechanism for controlling the movement of at least one heddle are releasably connected to harness cords connected to the at least one heddle by way of collars having releasably engageable male and female portions. The harness cords pass through openings in a control member which is reciprocally moveable so as to move the collars relative to guides through which the neck cords extend from the actuating mechanism.

Abstract: This invention provides an accessories which can be fixed by merely inserting a fixing pin into a wire string fastener. According to this invention, a series of decorative bodies are coupled one after another by means of a wire string, each end of the wire string is passed through a through-passage formed in a wire string fastener and through a turn-back portion of clasp, the end of the wire string thus passed through is then turned back to be again passed through the through-passage where the each end of the wire string is fixed by means of a fixing means. The wire string fastener is provided with a fastening hole and a depression. A fixing pin is fittingly inserted into the fastening hole, and provided with a projected portion extending slightly larger than the inner diameter of the fastening hole to contact with the vicinity of the opening of the fastening hole. The wire string is fixed in a bent manner along the depression by the pressing portion of the fixing pin.

The male fastener has a pair of opposite outward projecting pressing latch boards integrally formed at two front ends thereof. Each pressing latch board has an integral inward projecting latch lug formed with a middle notch. The lock button is rotatably disposed on a latch seat of the female fastener and has a boss formed with lock blocks, whereby the lock button can be rotated to make the lock blocks of the boss thereof engaged into the notches of the latch lugs of the male fastener, so that the pressing latch boards of the male fastener are prevented from being withdrawn and unlocked from the latch seat of the female fastener by external force to achieve a reliable locking effect.

Abstract: A side release buckle having an improved locking mechanism includes a male plug member and a female socket member. The plug member has a pair of resiliently flexible arm members. Each arm member includes a recess or notch disposed along the central longitudinal axis of the arm member which is adapted to engage a tooth arranged in a corresponding position in the socket member when the plug member is fully inserted into the socket member. Since the engagement or retaining force between the recess and the tooth lies along the central longitudinal axis of the arm members, this force directly opposes the load force on the buckle which acts to separate the two buckle pieces. Because of the proper positioning and arrangement of the recess and the tooth, the load force and the retaining force are aligned along the same axis, thereby providing increased holding power.

Abstract: A plug member of a buckle has a pair of engaging legs receivable in a socket member to couple the plug member and the socket member. The engaging legs are curved inwardly toward each other and each of which has an elongated opening extending longitudinally thereof and extending across its thickness. The socket member includes a pair of retaining portions disposed in the guide chamber for interlocking engagement with a pair of locking portions formed at the leading ends of the respective engaging legs. Each of the engaging legs each has a recessed thin guide portion which is smaller in thickness than an operating portion of each engaging leg. The buckle thus constructed is relatively small in thickness, can be coupled and uncoupled reliably and smoothly with a relatively small force, and is able to withstand undue force or pressure tending to damage the buckle.

The locking arm has an elongated arcuate cavity for snapping engagement with a complementarily shaped engaging surface in the socket member to ensure stable coupling of the two members.

Abstract: A coupling device for connecting a wire and a knob of elastic material is disclosed. The wire has one end formed into a hook and a portion curved into a generally U shape and connecting to the hook. The knob has a bore receiving the wire and a wall portion surrounding the bore. The wall portion is formed with a slot engaged by the hook, and a bulge protruding into the bore and engaged with the U-shaped portion of the wire. The bulge is so constructed and arranged as to prohibit removal of the U-shaped portion of the wire from the bore after the bulge has allowed insertion of the U-shaped portion into the bore.

Abstract: A clasp includes releasibly interconnectible first and second clasp members. The first clasp member includes an outwardly extending lock member. The second clasp member includes an inner tubular member slidably mounted in an outer tubular member. A lock member receiver is formed on the inner tubular member and, in a normal biased position of the inner tubular member, closes an aperture formed in a side wall of the outer tubular member to lockingly engage the lock member inserted through the aperture to join the first and second clasp members together. Fixing the wire is made by way of passing the wire through the pathway holes by the clasp followed by inserting a pin into an insert hole. The wire does not come off from the connecting member due to frictional force against the outer surface of the pin and the inner circumferential surface of the insert hole. The pin does not come off from the connector body since parts of the wire are inserted into the concave part. The wire may be removed by cutting a part of the wire and the wire side is removed followed by removal of the wire side.

Abstract: A catch for a jewelry clasp is disclosed which is formed from a single strip of dual thickness metal. A pushing member, having a second thickness which is preferably around three times the thickness of the first thickness portion of the tongue, is pressed to release the catch from a clasp to allow a wearer to remove an article of jewelry. Also disclosed is a method of making the catch where a dual thickness blank is formed by pressing a single thickness starting blank with a series of dies. A second method of making the catch is disclose where dual thickness blanks are cut from a ribbon of dual thickness metal stock.

Abstract: A device for assembling a plurality of cords which includes a bushing having a bore which cooperatively receives a clamp. The bushing includes an opening through which adhesive may be introduced after the clamp is inserted within the bore of the bushing to thereby bind the cords which are initially carried by the clamp. The clamp includes two branch elements joined by a crosspiece. Each branch element includes a first outwardly directing hooked end, a second inwardly directed jaw portion and an intermediate outwardly projecting portion. The intermediate portions are yieldably compressible with respect to one another to permit the insertion of the clamp in the bore of the bushing.

Abstract: An end stop for use in a magazine for carrying components. The end stop comprises a head that overlies one of a set aligned apertures in a magazine. A leg projecting from the head passes through the apertures to obstruct an opening at the end of the magazine. A retaining structure hinged to an intermediate portion of the leg extends toward the head and is spaced from a top wall of the structure. As the end stop is inserted, the wall of the magazine pivots the retaining means. After the retaining means passes through the wall, the retaining means relaxes to overlie the wall and capture the end stop to the magazine.

Abstract: A buckle assembly formed from a molded plastic material comprises a plug member and a socket member releasably engageable therewith, the plug member having a pair of spaced engaging tongues adapted to engage with corresponding flexural flanges of the socket member to urge the flanges to displace radially outwardly beyond the confines of lateral sides of the socket member. The plug member includes a locking prong resiliently movable into and out of a window formed in the socket member. A single hand manipulation of the locking prong and/or the flexural flanges facilitates resilient release of the plug member from the socket member.

Abstract: A safety clasp for jewelry including a receptacle having a cavity and a pair of opposed shoulders extending into the cavity. A leaf spring, which is insertable into the receptacle, includes a pair of legs in angular relation with each other. A first or primary clasp mechanism is provided to engage the leaf spring with the receptacle wherein a first leg terminates in a free end which will engage the opposed shoulders. An additional clasp mechanism is provided in the event of failure or unfastening of the primary clasp. A pair of inwardly extending recesses are provided in the first leg, the recesses being spaced from the end to form a pair of fins in order to engage the opposed shoulders.

The plastic frame is sufficiently flexible to form a hinge section, and has a molded-in snap tab closure.

Abstract: A mechanism which is capable of anastomosis of two lumens by an absorbable fastener. The fastener is made from two washer-like plates. One such plate has holes to receive latching prongs protruding from the other plate. Fastening is done through a single linear motion that causes the prongs to pierce the tissue, latches the prongs into a receiver and causes a knife blade to cut through excess fastener material and tissue. The ease of removal, by pulling the mechanism thorugh the formed anastomosis, is greatly enhanced. The system can be used such that the plates can be placed in any configuration to properly anastomose tissue.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for providing a catch capable of combining two flexible bands into one loopable accessory that may be fastened about a wearer, typically with only one hand. The invention has a catch body that is connected to an end of a guard and a male guard tongue that is attached to an opposite end of the guard. The catch body is constructed so as to have two female receivers. One receiver serves as a receptacle for the male bracelet tongue and is fastenable thereto. The other receiver serves as a mating receptacle for the male guard tongue. The bracelet is fixed in place in a track of the guard. The bracelet is looped about the guard so that the tip of the bracelet tongue passes through the receiver and inserts into the opposite end of the bracelet which is also positioned within the catch. By connecting all ends of the several bands at the catch body, a combination loop is formed.

One or both closure members includes a magnet. The mechanical closure includes a substantially stiff wire member which pivots about a first member of the closure. An intermediate portion of the wire member is engaged adjacent an end face of the second member of the closure to prevent the magnetic members from being separated until after the wire member is pivoted to the open position. The mechanical closure must be released before the magnetic closure can be released. The jewelry closure includes an end ring on each member for attaching to jewelry. A spring ring closure may optionally be attached to each of these rings for attaching jewelry, such as a chain, to the magnetic closure. Using this feature, the magnetic closure may readily be used as a replacement clasp for jewelry.

Abstract: A locking mechanism is integrally formed with a plastic belt or other flat band article where opposed end portions of a flat band need to be connected together. One of the band end portions has a lock housing mechanism at a free end thereof. The lock mechanism has a guide passageway for receiving and guiding the other band end portion through the lock housing mechanism. The other band end portion has a series of incremental engageable teeth which are engaged in the housing by an flexible arresting wedge to prevent the other band end portions to be retracted from the guide passageway of the lock housing. Finger actuable release tabs are accessible from the outside of the housing and provide for the disengagement of the arresting wedge with the incremental engaging teeth formed in the other band end portion for it to be retracted from the lock housing.

Abstract: A coupling device which can be used as a clasp to connect the ends of chains, bracelets, necklaces or other articles of jewelry has a male component including a shank which can be inserted into the passage of a tubular or disc-shaped female component whereby the shoulders at the rear side of the front end portion of the shank engage adjacent shoulders of the female component to prevent unintentional extraction of the shank. The shank or the female component has one or more resilient sections which can be engaged and deformed by one or more stressing portions of the other component in response to rotation of at least one component relative to the other component to thus ensure that the size of the passage is temporarily increased or the dimensions of the front end portion of the shank are reduced in order to permit extraction of the shank from the female component.

Abstract: A buckle is provided which includes a male portion and a female portion. The male portion includes inwardly deformable spring arms with detent protuberances. The detent protuberances engage detent apertures within detent recesses on lateral sides of the female portion. Lateral release guards are formed so as to shield the detent protuberances from being inadvertently depressed thereby releasing the male portion from the female portion. The lateral release guards include two portions meeting at an angle thereby forming a point of flexure. An internal rotatable locking assembly within the female portion can be rotated or a wedge can be slid within a channel so as to prevent the depression of the spring arms thereby locking the male and female portions to each other.

Abstract: A motion transmitting remote control cable assembly (10) includes a single piece junction box body (26) and a lid (30) having self-locking tangs, for automatically locking into engagement with the body upon the application of a compressive coupling force to the lid (30) and the body (26) for retaining the enlarged end (16) of a first core element (12) and the enlarged ends (16) of at least two other core elements (18,20). This junction box assembly (10) allows push-pull forces to be transmitted between the first core element (12) and the other core elements (18,20) in a confined environment.
