  • Patent number: 9446466
Abstract: A wire electrical discharge machine is provided with a rotating shaft for rotating a workpiece. In wire electrical discharge machining according to a machining program, a current average rotation radius at a current workpiece machining point is calculated for each predetermined period, based on average rotation radii at respective end points of a block to be executed and a directly preceding block and an amount of movement of the rotating shaft. Based on the calculated current average rotation radius, control is performed such that the speed of movement of the wire electrode relative to the workpiece machining point agrees with a command speed acquired from a machining power supply.

  • Patent number: 5897071
Abstract: Wires are coiled by rotating about a main axis a curved laying tube having an upstream end opening generally at the axis and directed axially upstream and a downstream end opening radially offset from the axis and directed generally tangentially and feeding a leading end of the wire into the tube upstream end so that the wire issues from the downstream end of the tube in a curved condition and is laid in a succession of turns on a surface below the downstream end. Passage of a trailing end of the wire through the laying tube is detected and a drum having an inner surface directed toward and centered on the axis at the tube downstream end is closed around the downstream end of the tube to confine the wire inside the drum as passage of the trailing end through the laying tube is detected. The drum is opened from around the downstream end of the tube after passage of the trailing end through the tube and the drum is held open until detection of passage of another trailing end through the tube.

  • Patent number: 5853134
Abstract: An assembly for storing a line in a coil in a storage room with a bottom and walls, as well as a central, upper opening to guide the line while it is being lead into or out of the storage room. The assembly comprising a central, round pole extending upward from the bottom of the room toward the central opening, and a guiding head mounted on top of the pole. The guiding head is shaped with such lateral dimensions in relation to the axis of the pole that the horizontal dimension is larger that the central opening. When the line is introduced to the storage room through the central opening, the line usually hits the head and is deflected so as to form the coil.

  • Patent number: 5839684
Abstract: A lined spiral-forming pipe (11) for a spiral-forming head of spiralling machines for metallic wire, comprising a plurality of wear-resistant inserts having an inner hollow through which the metallic wire passes and an outer surface connecting with the inner surface of the spiral-forming pipe (11) and an inner through hollow (12). The wear-resistant inserts (10) are substantially all alike with a substantially annular conformation with a longitudinal dimension ("1") mating with the minimum radius of curvature of the spiral-forming pipe (11), and have rounded front faces (10a) at least partly convex. The inner through hollow (12) comprises a first lead-in segment (12a) to introduce the metallic wire and a second following segment (12b) which is substantially cylindrical. Also included is a method to recondition a spiral-forming pipe (11) of a spiral-forming head in spiralling machines for metallic wire.

  • Patent number: 5829424
Abstract: A sawing device comprises a layer of parallel wires (8) which move with reciprocal or continuous movement whilst bearing against a member (9) to be sawed fixed to a support table (10). The wire comes from a management region (41a) of the wire, constituted by two spools of wire, one (2a) a payout spool and the other (14a) a take-up spool, which do not rotate, but which have a revolving spooling and unspooling member (42) about the spools permitting rendering the sawing device independent of the mass of the spools of wire (2a, 14a) and hence of the length of the wire.

  • Patent number: 5590848
Abstract: A rolling mill laying head as a quill supported for rotation about its longitudinal axis between axially spaced first and second bearing assemblies. A laying pipe is carried by the quill for rotation therewith. The laying pipe has an entry section lying on the quill axis between the first and second bearing assemblies, and a three dimensionally curved intermediate section extending through and beyond the second bearing assembly to terminate at a delivery end spaced radially from the quill axis to define a circular path of travel. The dimension by which the laying pipe extends beyond the second bearing assembly is less than the diameter of the circular path.

  • Patent number: 5483730
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for forming coils of yarn and for heat setting the yarn. The apparatus has a coiler adapted to receive yarn from a yarn source and to form the yarn into a plurality of overlapping loops of a desired size. The coiler preferably includes a supporting frame, a pair of feed rolls mounted on the supporting frame and adapted for feeding yarn from a yarn source, and a rotatable coiler tube positioned downstream from and cooperating with the feed rolls. The coiler also includes a first variable speed drive connected to the pair of feed rolls and adapted for rotating the same at a predetermined speed and a second variable speed drive connected to the coiler tube and adapted for rotating the same at a speed to thereby form loops of yarn of a desired size. The apparatus further has a conveyor positioned below the rotatable coiler tube for receiving overlapping loops of yarn thereon.

  • Patent number: 5465917
Abstract: A welding wire dispenser for use on a spool of welding wire comprising a base which is removably secured to the top plate of the spool. A let-off arm is rotatably mounted on the base and has a guide tube mounted thereon through which the welding wire extends. A brake is provided on the base and is associated with a coil spring to tension or compress the same as the welder or wire feeder pulls the wire from the spool of wire. When the welder or wire feeder discontinues its pulling action on the wire, the tension in the spring exerts sufficient force on the wire extending from the spool to prevent the wire from shingleing.
