About Internal Loop Form Patents (Class 242/361.2)
  • Patent number: 9873366
Abstract: A transport system has a dedicated trailer for transporting a small transport reel (i.e., <18-ft in diameter) of continuous rod to the field. The trailer has a pedestal that can pivot the reel. A hub motor on the pedestal can turn the reel, and a transfer unit and rod bender on the trailer can curve or straighten the rod when being fed into or out of the reel. A power and hydraulic system operates the various hydraulic components on the trailer. In other aspects, the transport system includes stands that can hold the small transport reels on a trailer within a defined transport envelope. When empty, these stands can be stacked on top of one another on the trailer for return to a facility.

Abstract: Selectively replaceable wear elements for rolling mill laying heads. One replaceable wear element forms the end ring guide surface and is installed within the end ring inner diameter without removing the guide ring from the laying head. A plurality of wear element bodies may be installed about one or more portions of the end ring guide surface inner diameter. Size, configuration and material properties of the end ring guide surface wear element bodies may vary for different sections within the ring guide inner diameter. Another replaceable wear element is a tripper paddle that forms a laying head tripper mechanism guide surface. The tripper paddle and guide surface wear element bodies are replaceable external the end ring without removing the end ring or tripper mechanism from the laying head. Either or both types of wear element may be used in a laying head.

  • Publication number: 20120181366
Abstract: A device for winding an elongate member into a coil includes at least one first body portion adapted to rotate about a first axis; at least one fixing device for fixing a portion of an elongate member to the at least one first body portion; and at least one force applicator for applying a force to the elongate member. The force includes first and second force components acting in perpendicular first and second directions respectively, in order to restrict movement of the elongate member in directions parallel with the first and said second directions. The first force component acts towards the first body portion to which the elongate member is fixed.

  • Patent number: 7806356
Abstract: A laying head, for forming coils starting from continuous rolled products such as round bars or wire rods (10) comprising a rotating member (3) with an axis (X), rotationally fixed to the supporting structure (30) by means of bearings (4, 5). The end of the rotating member (3) is a bell-shaped element (6) on the surface of which are a series of grooves (18) that guide the rolled product (10), said grooves having the form of a spiral and being open towards the outside. The laying head (1) comprises a fixed containing and protecting bell element (15) enclosing a portion of the rotating bell element (6) and having a shape that is complementary thereto.

  • Patent number: 6276625
Abstract: A method of ROV tether storage without the use of electrical rotary slip rings, and a tether storage drum. The heart of the Tether Storage System (TSS) invention involves the rotating beam with a powered tether sheave and guide plate on a circular track. The concept of a rotating beam with a powered tether sheave and beam drive motors in a single unit is uniquely different than any other tether storage and handling system. Rotating the sheave about the TSS frame's vertical axis is also unique. To accomplish this, preferably a drive motor is mounted at each end of the beam. A drive wheel on each motor reacts against the channel track to rotate the beam. Rollers at each end of the beam support and guide it. The tether is stored in a large circular basket below the sheave in the cylindrical frame. A guide plate attached to the sheave beam rests on top of the tether in the storage basket.
