Abstract: A support for an air tank of the type used in breathing apparatus has an improved means for releasably gripping the tank. It uses, for this purpose, crank elements rotatable with parallel bars to which are secured arms that clamp the tank between them. The crank elements overlap in a space between the bars, and their overlapping areas are slidably and pivotally interengaged. Swinging movement of one of the elements produces corresponding swinging movement of the other to rotate the bars between opposite extreme positions in one of which the clamp arms grip, and in the other release, the tank or cylinder. A user releases the cylinder by throw of a conveniently disposed handle. The handle rotates a cam in contact with a cam follower in the form of an angular arm rigid with one of the crank elements, to translate rotation of the cam through approximately 90.degree. into a swinging movement of the articulated linkage defined by the crank elements, over a dead center.

Abstract: An expandable storage system for securely storing materials of various shapes and sizes in an organized, easily identifiable and accessible manner. One or more rows of support members are removeably secured upon a panel so that their positions on the panel may be easily changed in order to secure materials of varying sizes and shapes. A resilient upper support member applies downward pressure on stored materials so that they are held securely against the other support members in order to minimize movement. Additional panels may be quickly added to the system by snapping hinge members to the panel edge and connecting those hinge members, by gravity support, to hinge members on an adjacent panel. Locations are provided for labels and other information relating to stored materials, with no separate space required for the label location. The storage system may be removeably mounted on a structural surface during use and may be secured in a closed configuration similar to a suitcase for transporting.

Abstract: An apparatus to prevent a tank, such as a scuba tank from rolling around on a supporting surface such as the bed of a truck or within the trunk of an automobile. The apparatus comprises a split ring-shaped band which is to be located about the exterior of the scuba tank. The band is attached in a tangential manner to a flat plate. The length of the flat plate is sufficient to laterally support the scuba tank when at rest on the supportive surface and prevent such from rolling around.

Abstract: A housing holder adapted to be mounted securely on a support and a cooperating detachable housing capable of being quickly and easily attached and detached with respect to the holder. The holder and housing are formed of suitable plastic material, the latter having various compartments and securing means as are appropriate to the apparatus contained within the housing.The holder and housing have cooperating engaging and interlocking integral rigid parts, while the holder also has a resilient portion including a downwardly extending latching rib, the latter cooperating in interlocking manner with an upwardly extending flange on the housing. The housing is mounted on the holder by means of "snap action" involving the resilient portion of the holder, and is detached by simple manual manipulation of the resilient portion.

Abstract: A compact bracket particularly suited for mounting fire extinguishers on aircraft, trucks, boats, railroad cars and the like comprised of a base member adapted to engage a fire extinguisher including strap members pivotally connected to the base member and adapted to extend about the fire extinguisher engaged by the latching member. The free ends of the strap members include a latch mechanism such that the strap members may be releasably latched about the extinguisher. At least one of the strap members has a protuberance extending from the extinguisher engaging surface thereof near the free end thereof. Such protuberance holds the adjacent portion of such strap member away from the extinguisher.

Abstract: A support for mounting an object on a vertically disposed hollow wall having an exterior surface and an interior surface spaced from each other by a predetermined distance. The support comprising a body, an intermediate leg and a wall piercing member. The body is an elongated planar member having a first and second end. The leg is a planar member approximately equal in length to said predetermined distance and is connected to the first end of said body perpendicularly to the plane of the body. The piercing member is connected to said leg portion parallel to the plane of said body means and is arranged to pierce through the wall portion connecting said surfaces, whereupon, when said support is rotated downward with respect to said wall portion, the piercing member abuts said interior surface of the wall with the body abutting the exterior surface and the leg resting on the wall material contiguous with the opening produced by the piercing action.

Abstract: An arrangement is disclosed for affixing the longitudinal end portions of the mounting flange of rectangular electrical connectors or the like to the outer surface of a support panel adjacent opposite edges of an aperture in the panel. A spring metal clip is provided having a U-shaped clasping portion for engaging the front and rear surfaces of the support panel adjacent an edge of the aperture. Spring fingers integral with the clip lie adjacent opposite side edges of the clip and are spaced apart such as to springingly engage inwardly directed recesses in the longitudinal side surfaces of the mounting flange when the flange is positioned between the fingers. There is also provided a manually operated releasable clamp member integral with that extremity of the clip most remote from the edge of the aperture when the clasping portion of the clip engages the panel.

Abstract: A bracket unit for holding devices having tanks of various diameters such as fire extinguishers. In one embodiment, a pair of straps and a shim are detachably affixed to the body of the bracket by tabs so that the entire unit is initially of one piece construction. After being detached from the body, one end of each of the straps is engaged within one of a plurality of apertures defined at either side of the body. The bracket unit is adaptable to cylinders of various diameter by engaging the straps within appropriate apertures in the body. A clamp, having two prongs, at the upper portion of the body engages the neck portion of the fire extinguisher and stops at the ends of each prong limits possible rotation of the fire extinguisher so that the gauge is kept facing away from the bracket. A support at a lower portion of the body accommodates a portion of the cylinder. A shim may be removably attached to the support to accommodate smaller diameter cylinders.

The hanger comprises a hoop portion adapted to embrace the neck of a container and a tab which is attached to the free ends of the hoop portion by a pivot on one end and cam the other end, so that by turning from a horizontal to a vertical position it not only draws the free ends of the hoop together closing it about the neck of the container but also disposes a nail-admitting slot downwardly for reception of the shank of the support nail.

Disclosed in the application is such a mounting in which means are provided to urge an ammunition container toward a rapid-fire weapon. Means are also provided to dispose the ammunition container precisely within the mounting, to rapidly remove any container top so as to permit the rapid feed of ammunition into the weapon. A device for insuring that the yoke bears against the ammunition is provided by which inadvertent release of the same is precluded.

Such brackets can be used, for example, as supports for shelves, fishing poles, skis, or lumber; as hangers for ladders, hoses, clothes, or hanging baskets; or as shoe scrapers. The transverse slots receive bands or straps for securing or embracing articles supported by the brackets.

Abstract: A waste receptacle cam lock with locking projection is provided to prevent the unauthorized removal of the waste receptacle from the mounting and supporting bracket. The cam lock associated with the primary supporting bracket and rotatably mounted from said bracket is spring biased such that when rotated to the position in which it functions as a cam to lock a secondary bracket as attached to the waste receptacle in the lock position, the spring biasing will effect a longitudinal movement of the cam disc and positively cause a projection extending from an edge thereof to interlock with a portion of the primary support bracket. Thus, the cam lock will be positively locked in closed position until such time as an operator with a proper actuating key positively and forceably moves the cam member with its mounting shaft in a longitudinal direction against the spring bias in order to disengage the projection from the bracket support. Then, and only then, can the cam lock be disengaged from the locking position.

Abstract: The invention is concerned with the protective cover and clamping arrangement for a bottle. The arrangement comprises a first wall having hook means proceeding outwardly therefrom. The arrangement further comprises a can open along a first side and at a first end thereof, the first side thereof being fastenable against the first wall. Hook engaging means are provided proceeding outwardly from a second and closed end of the can for engagement with the hook means. A second wall proceeds generally outwardly from the first wall a spaced distance from the hook means generally equal to the length of the can. Fastening means are provided for fastening the first end of the can to the second wall to create a generally closed chamber about the bottle. Shape conforming first bottle engaging means are provided extending from the first wall to contact the bottle and shock absorbent second bottle engaging means are provided extending from the interior of the can to contact the bottle.

Abstract: An improved back frame for supporting a tank of compressed breathing air in a life support breathing system wherein the back frame includes a harness for securing the frame to a user's back. The improvement resides in part in the provision of inclined lateral edge rails on the frame which are spaced outwardly from the user's back at the upper portion thereof and are oriented to incline or extend inwardly toward the user's back at the lower portion thereof. A retaining strap is slidably connected at each of its ends to the upper portion of a correspondingly associated edge rail. In this manner the strap may be slid along the rails to adjust the retention force imparted to a tank of compressed air mounted thereunderneath. In addition, the retaining strap includes at one end a stepped bracket connector for altering the nominal length of the strap while a toggle latch is provided at the opposite end thereof for loosening and tightening the strap with respect to a mounted air tank.

Abstract: A multiple-unit dispenser is disclosed including two side-by-side containers having mouths at their upper ends and openings at their lower ends, with a valve at each of the openings for controlling the dispensing of liquid products. A single unitary lid covers both the mouths at the tops of the containers. The containers are both parts of a single, unitary housing which is mounted on a wall bracket. Preferably, the wall bracket has upper and lower fingers which grasp the housing, and the lid has a downwardly extending projection which retains the upper finger of the bracket so that the upper finger cannot be released without removing the lid, thereby locking the housing on the wall bracket.

The over-center mechanism holds the extinguisher secure against vibration and the like and comprises a toggle arrangement actuated by a quick-release handle. The retaining forces act on the top and bottom of the extinguisher.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a storage tray and waste container, and particularly, to a novel storage tray for holding crackers and a wrapper container mounted on the storage tray. The storage tray, or holder member, has a peripheral wall, and a central locking device for removably securing an upstanding waste container. The locking device can comprise scallop-shaped fastening ears on the surface of the tray that are capable of interlocking with peripheral detents on the bottom of the waste container. The top of the waste container further has a pair of spring-biased closure members. The closure member can be formed with a pair of integral pivot pins for pivotal connection with the waste container walls and a pair of punched slits on the surface of the closure member to receive a band spring that can bias the closure member to a closed position.Another embodiment of the present invention includes a waste container that can be hooked, or attached, to the side of a storage container, such as a basket.

Abstract: An elongated relatively rigid member is removably attached by securing means to a side element of a wheeled patient carrier, such as a stretcher, so that said elongated member is in a relatively upright position. Hanger means are provided at the top of the elongated member for supporting engagement with the hanger bail of a bottle for suspending the bottle in an inverted position so that its contents can be delivered, as through a tube, to a patient on a stretcher. A clamp means is adjustably secured to the elongated member, and strap means is fixedly connected at one end to said clamp member and releasably connected at its outer end to said clamp member for surrounding and firmly holding the bottle against said clamp member.

Abstract: A spring holder which converts a box of tissues into a convenient, out-of-the-way storage and dispensing container particularly suitable for mounting in automobiles, the spring holder being characterized by a pair of spring legs adapted for anchoring at one end and at the other end having a support formation in cooperative relation to the spring legs and box for providing yieldable lift support to the tissue box against a reference surface, as well as resistance to lateral movement of the tissue box. In a first embodiment, each of the spring legs is of spring wire and has a spring loop distal from the anchor end and the support formation is comprised of an extension of each of the spring wire legs from the spring loop and having angular bends therein to engage a side, bottom and edge of an opening in the bottom of the tissue box.
