Adjustable Patents (Class 248/495)
  • Patent number: 4610418
Abstract: A support device for mounting objects on a wall includes a wall bracket and a hanger. The wall bracket is mounted on a wall by means of two openings, thereby preventing rotational movement of the bracket. The wall bracket also has an elongated stabilizer. The hanger includes a hanging notch and a separate centering notch, and is attached to the object to be hung. The hanger is engaged on the wall bracket by means of the hanging notch, while the centering notch straddles the stabilizer, thus counteracting rotational forces and maintaining the object spaced from the wall. The stabilizer also acts as a centering device which is adjustably bent until the desired orientation is obtained. The object can be removed and replaced with the same orientation by means of the adjusted stabilizer.

  • Patent number: 4591125
Abstract: A picture hanging device comprising a male member adapted to be rigidly secured to the back of a picture frame or other like object and a female member adapted to be rigidly secured to a wall or other vertical support surface. The male member includes an upper fastening flange and a resilient lower tongue normally lying in the same vertical plane. The fastening flange is provided with a fixed or movable spacing portion which protrudes beyond the fastening flange and the tongue. The female member comprises an upper guiding portion and a lower slot. The guiding portion guides the tongue into the slot and contacts the spacing portion when the tongue is fully inserted within the slot. A portion of the tongue remains exposed above the slot when fully inserted therein such that the exposed portion is deflected outwardly so as to urge the lower edge of the frame toward the wall.

  • Patent number: 4566665
Abstract: An adjustable hanger for hanging objects such as pictures, mirrors, etc. The hanger employs a sliding member which is adjustable by a threaded bolt for tightening the picture wire and for adjusting the height of the picture relative to the hanger. A lateral slot is formed in the sliding member and two slots are formed in the body of the hanger on opposite sides of the sliding member for receiving the wire of the picture.

  • Patent number: 4549713
Abstract: A system of hanging objects and adjusting their vertical position provides verically disposed rods upon which spring biased hanger straps are locked in place against downward vertical movement. Thus, in a picture gallery or the like, frequent manual adjustments and alignments may be made by simply manually moving the hanger straps vertically after overcoming the spring bias. The straps are simply L or J shaped metal straps with a hole in a positioning leg passing over a slightly smaller rod and a parallel strap spring affixed thereto extending over the hole to deflect the spring when on the rod for locking the strap vertically in place by eccentric action of the aperture against the rod until the spring bias is manually overcome for adjustment of the vertical position. The strap has a hanger portion extending downwardly so that the weight of an object, such as a picture mounted thereon more tightly locks the hanger in place.

  • Patent number: 4364538
Abstract: A picture-hanging system comprising a section of metallic picture-hanging wire cable of limited stiffness having a loop at one end to engage a mounting member, such as a screw eye, for connection to a picture frame, the other end extending through a similar mounting member and having a small locking apertureformed at the terminal portion of said other end through which an intermediate portion of said wire cable extends, whereby the length of said cable between said two attaching members may be adjusted by moving said small locking aperture along said intermediate portion of said cable and then applying tension upon the cable to effect a locking offset crimp in the cable to prevent slippage of said small locking aperture along said cable in a direction to lengthen the same between said mounting members.

  • Patent number: 4309017
Abstract: A planar, three-member, reversable two-position frame hanger capable of coupling to and holding an art frame in a first flat configuration against a wall or in a second stand-off position away from the wall is presented. The hanger includes a first support member having a base which is coupled to the frame slightly above the center of gravity of the frame. The base is axially symmetrical and has coupled thereto side members of the width that the frame is to stand-off from the wall. A top member coupled to the base locks the two side members into stand off position. For large frames, two lower members, each comprising a base with side members coupled thereto along a fold line, maintain the frame parallel to the wall. The two side members of the bottom members coupled together provide spacing in the stand-off position.

  • Patent number: 4222544
Abstract: Known picture rail apparatus comprises a rail member to be mounted horizontally on the wall, the rail member being formed with a longitudinally-extending slot, and a support member on which a picture or other article can be supported. The support member is provided with a tongue permitting it to be slidingly mounted on the rail member with the tongue slidingly engaged in the slot. In this invention, an inter-engaging surface of one of the tongue and the slot is provided with a longitudinally-extending shoulder which may be in the form of a rib serving to resist withdrawal of the tongue laterally from the slot.

  • Patent number: 4213259
Abstract: A display is mounted on a wall at a selected distance from the wall by means of a spacer erected from a sheet of material, which normally is flat for storage and transportation, into a partially tubular member of selected axial length which is secured at one end thereof to the display and bears against the wall at the other end to space the display away from the wall. The spacer is included in a kit having a mounting board with an obverse surface receiving the item to be displayed and a reverse surface for receiving the one end of the tubular member.

  • Patent number: 4212123
Abstract: A positioning device is provided which is adapted to be secured to the back edge of a picture frame or the like. The device comprises a pivotally mounted indicator arm adapted to freely hang in the vertical plane when the picture frame on which disposed is in a normal hung position. When the picture frame is horizontally level no portion of the indicator arm is visible from the picture front; when the picture is not level a portion of the indicator is visible to the picture viewer.

  • Patent number: 4171117
Abstract: A manually adjustable picture hanger for hanging a picture frame in a stable level attitude. Three embodiments are described, each of which includes a flat bracket means, a first pointed probe extending through a channel formed in the bracket means, and a second pointed probe extending through an opening in the bracket means. Manual force applied to the picture frame pivots the bracket means about the second probe for adjustment to a preselected level attitude. The frame is retained in a stable position by frictional abutment between the first and second probes, the bracket means, and the frame.
