Abstract: Device for three-dimensional vibration insulation between structures or industrial equipment in general and the foundations thereof, comprising a hexagonal framework formed by six plates connected so as to pivot in relation to each other by horizontal parallel hinges, at least a spring and a damper being arranged between the plates. The device further comprises a connector arranged its series on the upper plate so as to pivot about a horizontal axis perpendicular to the axis of the hinges. The insulating system comprises a plurality of devices operating in parallel and oriented in such a way that the transverse axes thereof (defined by the hinges) converge onto a vertical axis that contains the centre of gravity of the structure or equipment being insulated, in particular against high-intensity seismic activity with large displacements.

Abstract: A system for managing noise and vibration in a vehicle includes a housing defining an internal cavity. A compliant member is attached to the housing and further defines the internal cavity. A magnet is operatively fixed to the housing in the cavity and has a magnetic field. A coil is positioned in the cavity and is configured so that there is relative movement between the coil and the magnet in the magnetic field in response to movement of the compliant member relative to the housing. A resistor is in electrical communication with the coil to form an electrical circuit. Relative movement of the coil in the magnetic field induces a current in the circuit that creates an opposing magnetic field, thereby reducing transmitted dynamic forces.

At least one tendon ties the load bearing elements or the load bearing element and the foundation together. One or more energy dissipaters, replaceably connected between the load bearing element and/or the foundation, absorb energy when a loading event causes relative movement of the connection. The engineered wood element may be a laminated veneer lumber element, a parallel strand lumber element, or a glue laminated timber element, for example. Abstract: An anti-vibration unit, which enables a reduction in man-hours to be achieved during manufacturing and a reduction in the number of parts, is provided. A boss member of an anti-vibration device is pressed into a press-fitting section of a second bracket so as to be firmly fixed. The omission of the bolt enables a corresponding reduction in the number of parts. Moreover, by omitting the bolt in this way, there is no need to form a female threaded section on the boss member of the anti-vibration device, thus enabling a corresponding reduction in man-hours during manufacturing. In addition, when chemically treating the boss member of the anti-vibration device, it is unnecessary to implement a step for protecting the female threaded section with a masking bolt, thus eliminating the need to attach and detach the masking bolt, which in turn enables a corresponding reduction in man-hours during manufacturing.

Abstract: An apparatus for isolating and leveling a machine foundation with respect to a substructure of a building or the ground. The apparatus of the present invention provides an enclosure connectable to the machine foundation. A load bearing member is disposed within and adjustably connected to the enclosure. A support member is positioned between and in contact with the bearing member and the substructure for supporting and isolating the machine foundation from the substructure and providing a leveling mechanism to level the machine foundation. The support member may include an elastomeric inner core having elastomer-coated cords overlapping the inner core to resist radial expansion of the inner core upon the realization of a compressive force along a longitudinal axis of the inner core. The support member may also include a high-strength, rigid material, such as a steel I-beam, that is replaceable with other support members.

Abstract: An inventive method is presented for a sliding pendulum seismic isolation system that reduces seismic forces on the supported structure and reduces the costs of the isolation bearings, seismic gaps, and supported structural frame. The inventive method is to configure the isolation system to achieve increased effective friction with increased displacement amplitudes, and to employ specific bearing configurations that suit the different types and magnitudes of loads present at particular structure support locations. Three bearing configurations are presented which are comprised of multiple sliders that slide along different concave spherical surfaces, each constituting an independent sliding pendulum mechanism having a specified pendulum length and friction.

Abstract: To provide a vibration isolation unit capable of reducing the number of parts, man-hour and material cost, and suppressing the product cost. One side of a stopper rubber member continues to the outer edge of a diaphragm. Accordingly, because they can be vulcanizingly molded simultaneously, the number of parts can be reduced. Also, because the diaphragm is attached to an outer tube member, the stopper rubber member also can be fixed simultaneously, and therefore the man-hour can be reduced. Further, because one side of the stopper rubber member continues to the outer edge of the diaphragm, overlapping of them in an axial view can be avoided, and a rubber material can be used efficiently. Thus, the number of parts, man-hour and material cost can be reduced and the product cost of the overall vibration isolation unit can be suppressed.
