  • Patent number: 4475568
Abstract: A pressure reducing and regulating valve having a body with a body cavity and a seal container movable in the cavity. The container includes primary and vent seals. At least one flow plate is positioned in the body adjacent the container and includes primary, secondary and vent ports. The improved seal container has the primary and vent seals positioned in the container on opposite sides of the central axis of the container, allowing the container and thus the body to be of a smaller size, thereby reducing the pressure forces applied against the interior of the body. The primary and vent seals are spaced on opposite sides of the central axis at locations for reducing the side loading forces acting around the central axis as the container is moved.

  • Patent number: 4418888
Abstract: The angle cock valve has all plastic parts to prevent galvanic corrosion when used in hot water tanks and the like. The valve includes a valve body, a valve stem and a stem retainer. The valve body has an inlet bore, an outlet bore, and a valve stem receiving bore disposed in fluid communication with each other. The inlet and valve stem receiving bores taken together form a linear bore for allowing a rod to pass into the water tank to dislodge accumulated sediment. An annular seat is disposed between the inlet and outlet bores. The valve stem has an enlarged handle portion at one end and a detent for mounting a seat seal at the other end. The valve stem and the stem receiving bore are threaded to enable the seat seal to be selectively moved longitudinally against the annular seat. A pair of annular ridges receive an annular seal. Facing the handle portion, the ridges have a generally transverse surface. The stem retainer is mounted on the exterior of the valve body.

  • Patent number: 4328834
Abstract: A pinch valve for selectably controlling flow of fluid through one of two resiliently deformable tubes used e.g., for transporting water in a steam iron. The valve comprises a body member defining a compression surface supporting each one of the tubes. A selector lever is pivotally mounted on the body for selectably moving an integral cam abutment between individual tube shut-off positions. A rocker element supported on the tubes is captively held in the body member intermediate the selector lever and the compression surface for rocking movement between tube pinching positions. The cam abutment continually presses on the rocker causing the rocker to bear upon each one of the tubes on the compression surface. As the selector lever is pivoted, the cam abutment engageably slides along the rocker to rock the rocker between its tube pinching positions. The tubes are thus isolated from sliding contact with the cam abutment by the interposed rocker thereby preventing frictional wear of the tubes.

  • Patent number: 4114202
Abstract: Cardiovascular malfunction is corrected by implantation through open-heart surgery of a prosthetic valve assembly in which a specially formed valve retainer ring, designed to be secured within a blood vessel by means of sutures, supports a plurality of valve flaps in uniquely hinged relationship. The hinged valve flaps are arranged to normally occur in a closed position in which adjacent flap edges, when in abutting relation to one another, limit hinging movement in one direction. The valve flaps are designed to closely resemble valve flaps in a human heart with hinged mountings devised to insure pronounced longevity being provided. Each valve flap, in response to systolic pressure, is free to move away from the normally closed position described. There is thus produced a central passageway through which fluid may flow in a substantial linear path of travel with little, if any, turbulence or traumatic effects being induced.

Abstract: Mounted adjacent the end of a plastic hose remote from its connection to a kitchen sink faucet or other such water source is an improved hose-pinching clamp assembly of the present invention which enables effective watering of remotely located plants. The significant improvement in performance is that the clamp, during normal watering service, is confined to providing a desirable "soft" stream by a pliable sleeve or tube in covering relation over the clamp, said tube maintaining the clamp partially closed upon the hose so as to restrict flow to said "soft" stream. Prior art clamps, in contrast, can inadvertently be opened too much, and may therefore operate with a watering stream that splashes or otherwise is unsuitable for the purposes intended.

Abstract: A hydraulic valve has a valve member whose travel is limited at one end by an abutment. The abutment is part of a hydraulic piston-cylinder arrangement, and when the piston-cylinder arrangement is pressurized and the valve member is moved to the end of its travel, the abutment is held in a first position where the valve is only open to a small extent. • Patent number: 4050475
Abstract: The invention provides a hot and cold water mixing and flow control faucet of the hydraulically unbalanced piston type. A control stem of the piston passes through a seal of a self-energizing nature for connection to an actuating member operative to rotate and reciprocate the piston. The piston is substantially pressure balanced in the closed position by virtue that shut-off of the faucet is effected at the inlet ports, and is biased axially in the open position by virtue that the opposed pressure-effective areas of the piston are unequal. These opposed areas of the piston differ by an amount corresponding to the cross sectional area of the control stem, and the diameter of the stem is limited to a maximum of 6 mms. to correspondingly limit the force biasing the piston axially.
