  • Patent number: 5467967
Abstract: The present invention is a faucet which can be opened to a user settable degree, thus allowing a user to set the water temperature. The faucet knob has an internal cavity which houses a left-hand threaded sleeve. As the faucet knob is turned counter-clockwise, a threaded stop collar, which matingly engages the threaded sleeve, is drawn up within the faucet knob cavity until the collar encounters a setscrew. The setscrew prevents further movement of the stop collar along the threaded sleeve, thus preventing further turning of the knob. The surface, of the stop collar, which contacts the setscrew can be provided with resilient ramps which allow further adjustment of the knob position by an adult user, and raised flats or steps which completely prevent any further turning of the knob once the stop collar reaches the setscrew. More than one setscrew can be provided to accommodate the water temperature preferences of different users.

Abstract: A diaphragm valve includes alternative actuator structures. The first actuator arrangement includes an adjustable nut received on a bonnet portion of the valve for adjusting the stroke of an actuating stem. According to a first alternative arrangement, a sleeve is interposed between a biasing spring and an actuating member to limit the closing force imposed on the diaphragm. A stop defined on the bonnet limits axial movement of the actuating stem so that the spring eventually imposes the entire closing force on the diaphragm. In yet another embodiment, actuating pressure is reduced through incorporationh of a dual pistion actuator arrangement.

Abstract: A mixing valve (10) has a modular cartridge (60) rotatably mounted in housing (12). The cartridge has a bottom volume control valve plate (58) attached to a lower section (62) housing a pressure balance valve (80). The lower section (62) is secured to an upper section (120) that rotatably receives a temperature control plate (150). The plates (58) and (150) are both rotatable about a common axis (64). The plate (58) is controlled by operation of stem (180) attached to handle (34). The plate (150) is controlled by stem (160) which is operated by knob (38). An insert (250) allows the knob (38) to operate even when hot and cold water supplies are inverted. A splined hot water stop ring (228) sits in handle (34) and adaptably limits rotation of knob (38) for a selected maximum water temperature. Outer seals (58) assure that all water flows through cartridge (60) when the volume is set for partial flow.

Abstract: A beverage dispenser valve system in which the mixture ratio is controlled by continuous modulation of the solenoid valves. The solenoid valves have movable stop (or push rods) that control the travel of the armature, which in turn controls the position of a needle valve with respect to the valve seat to gradually change the flow opening and thus the syrup and water flow rates. A microprocessor uses the movable stop to adjust the syrup and/or water flow rate to deliver the proper ratio of syrup to water based on the flow of water and syrup as measured by flow meters. In addition, the total flow rate from the nozzle can be controlled and varied in relation to the distance the cup lever arm is depressed; thus, the flow rate can be made slow at the beginning and end, and fast in-between.

Abstract: A quick-action valve is opened and closed by a quarter turn. Safe closing with high mechanical advantage is provided, while the valve member is removed completely from the path of the flow upon valve opening. The valve member is fixed to a valve arm, mounted for rotation on a shaft. The valve includes an auxiliary shaft around which an actuating arm with a roller fixed to it are turnable. The roller moves the valve arm, or an auxiliary arm connected to it, so that upon closing it rolls substantially tangentially on a camming surface, thus bringing about maximum force transmission. A few degrees after the dead center position, rotation of the actuating arm is limited by a stop, and self-holding takes place in the closed position. In a preferred version the roller runs in the groove on the valve arm or auxiliary arm.

  • Patent number: 4817375
Abstract: A fuel control system for a turbine engine includes a fuel flow regulator comprising a double differential piston slidable in a sleeve to vary the opening and closing of a fuel inlet or outlet and thereby regulate the output flow of fuel from the regulator. A first fixed stop limits the movement of the piston in one direction to define the maximum output flow of fuel permitted by the regulator, while a second stop, in an operative safety position, limits the movement of the piston in the opposite direction to define a minimum fuel output threshold. The second stop can, however, be retracted to an inoperative position by actuation of a control circuit to allow the minimum fuel output threshold to be overcome and the regulator piston to reach an extreme nil outflow position.
