The plate (58) is controlled by operation of stem (180) attached to handle (34). The plate (150) is controlled by stem (160) which is operated by knob (38). An insert (250) allows the knob (38) to operate even when hot and cold water supplies are inverted. A splined hot water stop ring (228) sits in handle (34) and adaptably limits rotation of knob (38) for a selected maximum water temperature. Outer seals (58) assure that all water flows through cartridge (60) when the volume is set for partial flow.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1988Date of Patent: February 20, 1990Assignee: Masco Corporation of IndianaInventors: James R. Patent number: 4884720Abstract: A beverage dispenser valve system in which the mixture ratio is controlled by continuous modulation of the solenoid valves. The solenoid valves have movable stop (or push rods) that control the travel of the armature, which in turn controls the position of a needle valve with respect to the valve seat to gradually change the flow opening and thus the syrup and water flow rates. A microprocessor uses the movable stop to adjust the syrup and/or water flow rate to deliver the proper ratio of syrup to water based on the flow of water and syrup as measured by flow meters. In addition, the total flow rate from the nozzle can be controlled and varied in relation to the distance the cup lever arm is depressed; thus, the flow rate can be made slow at the beginning and end, and fast in-between.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1987Date of Patent: December 5, 1989Assignee: The Coca-Cola CompanyInventors: Roger C. Patent number: 4832078Abstract: A quick-action valve is opened and closed by a quarter turn. Safe closing with high mechanical advantage is provided, while the valve member is removed completely from the path of the flow upon valve opening. The valve member is fixed to a valve arm, mounted for rotation on a shaft. The valve includes an auxiliary shaft around which an actuating arm with a roller fixed to it are turnable. The roller moves the valve arm, or an auxiliary arm connected to it, so that upon closing it rolls substantially tangentially on a camming surface, thus bringing about maximum force transmission. A few degrees after the dead center position, rotation of the actuating arm is limited by a stop, and self-holding takes place in the closed position. In a preferred version the roller runs in the groove on the valve arm or auxiliary arm.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1987Date of Patent: May 23, 1989Assignees: Lajos Szekely, Attila Hamori, Miklos VidaInventors: Lajos Szekely, Attila Hamori, Miklos Vida, Karoly Kunos

Patent number: 4817375Abstract: A fuel control system for a turbine engine includes a fuel flow regulator comprising a double differential piston slidable in a sleeve to vary the opening and closing of a fuel inlet or outlet and thereby regulate the output flow of fuel from the regulator. A first fixed stop limits the movement of the piston in one direction to define the maximum output flow of fuel permitted by the regulator, while a second stop, in an operative safety position, limits the movement of the piston in the opposite direction to define a minimum fuel output threshold. The second stop can, however, be retracted to an inoperative position by actuation of a control circuit to allow the minimum fuel output threshold to be overcome and the regulator piston to reach an extreme nil outflow position.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1988Date of Patent: April 4, 1989Assignee: Societe Nationale d'Etude et de Construction de Moteurs d'Aviation "S.N.E.C.M.A."Inventors: Jean-Marie Brocard, Eric Perrodeau, Maurice G. Patent number: 4815693Abstract: A valve has a housing to which a 360 degree notch plate is integrally connected. A valve member mounted within the housing control fluid flows and rotates though substantially 90 degrees between maximally open and closed positions. A valve stem extends upwardly from the valve and through an opening formed in the notch plate. A handle is releasably secured to the valve stem immediately above the notch plate and has a spring-biased pivoting arm which cooperates with the notches to permit the angular position of the handle and consequently the valve member to be incrementally adjusted and locked. The upper surface of the notch plate has four distinct quadrants, and a number of holes formed at predetermined locations, a different pair of holes being associated with and positioned to either side of each quadrant. The valve stem is shaped to receive the handle in only predetermined angular orientations relative to the valve member.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1988Date of Patent: March 28, 1989Assignee: Lunkenheimer Tubecraft Canada Ltd.Inventors: Bruce James, Leslie Calder

Patent number: 4801051Abstract: An improved liquid dispensing apparatus having a micro-adjustment of the opening travel of a needle valve of the apparatus. This micro-adjustment comprises a sleeve-stop member which is axially movable but non-rotatable in the body of the apparatus. One end of the sleeve-stop member forms an end-stop to limit opening movement of the needle valve away from the valve seat. Screw threads of a first pitch are formed on an external portion of the sleeve-stop member and internal screw threads of a second pitch different from the first pitch are formed on a portion of the apparatus body. A generally tubular adjustment screw element is engaged with both the internal scew threads of the body bore and the external screw threads of the sleeve-stop member so that rotation of the adjustment screw element causes differential axial movement of the sleeve-stop member for fine adjustment of the maximum opening needle valve travel.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1984Date of Patent: January 31, 1989Assignee: Nordson CorporationInventors: William A.
