  • Patent number: 4907676
Abstract: The valve comprises a flat, rectangular body attachable to the drain fittings of crankcases by an attachment fitting having passages which allow flow through the fitting into the body. The body has an outlet port in one of its sides. The port is opened and closed by a seal attached to a slider which slides on bolts extending from the side having the port. The slider is forced toward the port by coil springs on the bolts and moved away from the port to open the valve by tension applied by the core wire of a Bowden cable. The cable extends from a header piece held between the springs on the bolts and the bolt heads to an operating mechanism attached to a readily accessible point on the vehicle in which the crankcase is used. A lever, pivoted to the base of the operating mechanism, is operable to apply tension to the core wire of the cable to open the valve and can be moved over center to hold the valve open. Moving the lever back over center allows the springs to close the valve.

Abstract: A raft inflation valve, which is actuated by pulling a detachable cable connected to one end of a piston, thereby allowing inflation gas to flow from an attached pressure vessel into an inflatable raft includes a valve body having an inlet, an outlet, an internal cylinder open at one end to the valve outlet, and an inlet passage leading from the valve inlet to and intersecting with the midsection of the internal cylinder. A double-ended piston with O-ring seals on both ends is positioned in the internal cylinder so that one end blocks the passage to the outlet. In this position (valve closed) the O-ring seals are on opposite sides of the intersection of the inlet passage which results in a balancing of the gas pressure forces acting on the piston, thereby allowing the piston to be moved (for actuation) by simply overcoming the O-ring drag on the internal cylinder wall. This results in a low actuation force that is only remotely related to the operating pressure of the inflation system.

  • Patent number: 4594738
Abstract: A drain and overflow device for bathtubs having overflows at different heights and various slopes. By rotation of a turning knob (6) adjacent the overflow housing (15), the body (8) of the drain valve (1) can be raised and lowered by means of a Bowden draw tube (10). A bellows (5) is inserted in the overflow conduit (11), and this enables adjustment of the length of the latter and orientation of the overflow housing (15) to the dimensions of the bathtub. In order to prevent twisting of the Bowden cable (12) during actuation of the turning knob (6), the cable is rotatably arranged on a cable bolt (28). For this purpose, an easily rotatable bearing (34) is inserted in an axial bore (33) of the cable bolt (28), and on this bearing rests a disc (36) to which the Bowden cable is attached.

Abstract: In a discharge regulator for outlets from liquid containers, in particular rain runoff retention reservoirs, in which a regulator plate or diaphragm is guided in front of the outlet opening and is operatively connected to a float by means of transmission elements which may at the same time be control elements, the regulator (1) is guided pivotally in front of the outlet opening (2) and is mounted above the latter on a fixed rotation axis (4) jointly with a disk (3) on a base plate (11). A transmission element (5) or (12) connects the disk (3) to a second upper rotation axis (7) on which a disk (6) is operatively connected to a float arm (8) and then via the latter to the float (9) (FIG. 1). The float (9) and float arm (8) as well as the plate (1) can optionally be arranged on alternate sides. Apart from these components all the other drive and transmission elements may be protected by a hood.

  • Patent number: 4535932
Abstract: A diffuser is provided with three discharges. Two of the discharges are directed in one direction and, when installed, would be directed towards the outside wall of the conditioned space. The other discharge is directed in the opposite direction and would discharge into the interior of the conditioned space. Responsive to the temperature of the conditioned air being supplied, a thermally responsive actuator is in either one of two positions whereby either one of the two discharges in the one direction or the discharge in the opposite direction is blocked. This results in two discharges in one direction or one in each direction with the discharge area being the same in both instances.

  • Patent number: 4526204
Abstract: A two lever, three function control apparatus for hydraulic control valves wherein a first control lever end is connected by a first cable to a first hydraulic valve operator, a link perpendicular to the first cable interconnects the first control lever and one leg of a bellcrank rotatable about on axis parallel to the first control lever. A second leg of the bellcrank disposed at right angles to the first leg is connected to a second cable parallel to the first cable which in turn connects to a second hydraulic operator. Fore-and-aft movement of the first control lever actuate only the first cable and hydraulic valve and transverse movement of the first control lever actuates only the second cable and hydraulic valve. To physically differentiate between the two function, the second bellcrank leg is twice the length of the first leg and a detent mechanism acting on the bellcrank hub is also provided. A second control lever is connected by a third cable to a third hydraulic control valve operator.

  • Patent number: 4438777
Abstract: A freeze protection valve can be reset under cold ambient conditions without the need for artificial heating of the valve's temperature sensor. An auxiliary latch is used to hold the valve element closed. The auxiliary latch is automatically released as the primary latching mechanism of the valve becomes operative upon an increase in temperature of the liquid system served by the valve. Release of the auxiliary latch is effected by virtue of a small downward movement of the valve stem resulting from a camming action inherent in the operation of the valve's primary latch. In one version of the valve, a simple, drop-away key temporarily holds the valve stem down until the primary latch becomes operative. In another version, the valve stem is reset remotely through a bowden wire, and the resetting mechanism automatically engages an auxiliary latch.
