  • Patent number: 8066075
Abstract: A completion suspension valve system is described which allows a well to be suspended and desuspended remotely without a dual bore riser to the surface. This is achieved by incorporating a remotely actuatable valve into the production bore of a tubing hanger. The valve is hydraulically operable and may be controlled via the tubing hanger running tool or via the xmas tree. The valve can be closed and tested after the tubing hanger has been installed, thereby isolating the well. The dual bore riser and running tool are retrievable and the MODU type vessel is then free to continue drilling and completion operations elsewhere. The xmas tree can therefore be deployed from a workclass supply boat instead of a MODU type vessel.

Abstract: The invention relates to a flow adjustment valve (1) comprising a valve housing (2) having a flow channel (3) in which a throttle unit (4, 11) having an adjustable throttle element (11) and a shut-off unit having a shut-off element (4) which blocks the flow channel (3) in a closed position are arranged, the shut-off element (4) being actuatable from the outside by means of a handle (16). The aim of the invention is to simplify the handling of a flow adjustment valve of the aforementioned type. For this purpose, the throttle element (11) can also be actuated by means of the handle (16).

The valve body also defines a fluid flow channel, a drain flow channel and a valve portion, wherein the valve portion is disposed in the valve body to be communicated with the first fluid flow port, the second fluid flow port and the fluid drain port. A flow diversion device is also provided and is disposed within the valve portion. The flow diversion device is configurable between a first configuration and a second configuration, such that when the flow diversion device is in the first configuration the first fluid flow port is communicated with the second fluid flow port. Consequently, when the flow diversion device is in the second configuration the first fluid flow port is communicated with the fluid drain port. The fluid flow can be decrease or stop by use of the valve within the fluid drain port.

Abstract: A ball valve having improved sealing between the valve member and the valve body is presented. Improved sealing is realized by providing a sealing member that is allowed to float on the outer surface of the valve member in the closed position. By being able to float on the outer surface, the sealing member can compensate for any variations in the valve member as a result of machining tolerances or variations in position of the valve member due to changes in pressure within the valve, thereby providing dynamic sealing The dynamic sealing is also provided by configuring the valve member such that it causes the sealing member to be exposed to a higher biasing force in the closed position than in the open position.

The inventive flying valve for a free piston comprises a tubular body, a detachable element, which is insertable therein and is embodied in a form of a solid of rotation, and an arrester used for limiting the detachable element travel. The arrester is embodied in the form of a ring, the diameter of which is less than the internal diameter of the tubular body and is arranged coaxially therein. The thickness of the walls of the annular arrester gradually increases in the direction of the detachable element and the top and lower edges thereof are rounded. The arrester can be embodied in one piece with the tubular body and connected thereto by means of one or more connecting straps. Abstract: A ball valve assembly comprises a housing with ball valve rotatably disposed in a valve chamber in the flow passage. The ball valve is rotatable between open and closed positions by a valve stem that is connected to the ball valve at one end. The ball valve has an open ended slot in which the end of the stem is received. During assembly the stem may be inserted into the housing first and then the ball valve introduced into the housing with the slot facing the stem and then moved in the direction of the slot so that that the stem is received in the slot. The arrangement enables the conventional bonnet in a ball valve assembly to be eliminated and therefore provides for a compact design.
