  • Patent number: 11280422
Abstract: A plug-and-seat valve plug head assembly that resists abrasive erosion includes a hardened plug head, such as a ceramic plug head, attached to a plug stem without any soldering, welding, or braising attachment to the plug head. A diameter of a second portion of the plug head smoothly increases according to a plug diameter profile. A diameter of a first portion of the plug head is everywhere smaller than the plug diameter profile, and is maximal at a location spaced apart from the second portion. A plug head retainer overlaps and closely conforms to the first portion, while presenting an exterior surface that smoothly continues and extends the plug diameter profile. In embodiments, a plug head retainer blank attaches to the plug head retainer, capturing the plug head therebetween. Embodiments apply radial and/or axial stress to the plug head.

  • Patent number: 8944409
Abstract: Tunable fluid ends reduce valve-generated vibration to increase fluid-end reliability. Tunable fluid end embodiments comprise a family, each family member comprising a fluid end housing with at least one installed tunable component chosen from: tunable check valve assemblies, tunable valve seats, tunable radial arrays and/or tunable plunger seals. Each tunable component, in turn, contributes to blocking excitation of fluid end resonances, thus reducing the likelihood of fluid end failures associated with fatigue cracking and/or corrosion fatigue. By down-shifting the frequency domain of each valve-closing impulse shock, initial excitation of fluid end resonances is minimized. Subsequent damping and/or selective attenuation of vibration likely to excite one or more predetermined (and frequently localized) fluid end resonances represents further optimal use of fluid end vibration-control resources.

Abstract: A wastegate for a turbocharger wherein the valve is provided with a horn to provide a more progressive, optimally near linear, curve of turbocharger boost-to-valve opening than possible with the typical flat wastegate valve. The addition of a three-dimensional horn in the flow path is a far more cost-effective solution to acquire linear flow than an approach involving very finite, accurate control of the valve position.

Abstract: A flush valve handle assembly and a check valve assembly are provided for use in a flush valve, wherein the flush valve handle assembly and check valve assembly include improved components. The flush valve handle assembly includes a ball member and a plunger rod, one or both of which can be constructed of a polymeric material. An improved flush file retainer is provided which includes at least one ear integrally formed around a circumferential portion thereof. This at least one ear secures the flush file retainer in a snap-fit configuration in the socket-coupling. The check valve assembly includes a piston/seal having a plurality of ribs having a tapered design extending outwardly from a circumferential periphery of the piston/seal. The piston/seal includes a sealing material located on a top surface thereof. This sealing material can be a thermoplastic elastomeric coating material.

Abstract: A valve assembly in a reciprocating compressor used in oil and gas industry is provided. The valve assembly comprises an actuator configured to a valve actuating motion and a valve. The valve has a valve seat comprises an inlet port configured to allow a fluid to flow through the valve seat, a counter-seat comprising an outlet port configured to allow the fluid to flow through the counter-seat, and a valve closing member attached to the counter-seat and configured to cover the inlet port when the counter-seat is in a closed position. The counter-seat is configured to receive the valve actuating motion and to move between the closed position and an open position in which the valve closing member does not cover the inlet port thereby selectively allowing the fluid to flow on a flow path which comprises the inlet port and the outlet port.

Abstract: The invention relates to a manual control part of a suction device with a valve, which manual control part can be adjoined downstream by a suction line and upstream by a pipette or pipette tip. The manual control part consists of a cylindrical, elastically deformable jacket, which defines a receiving space for a valve body, and of a valve body, which is received in the jacket and which defines, within the receiving space, a first space located in the upstream direction and a second space located in the downstream direction. In the valve body a flow connection between the first space and the second space is provided by at least one radially outwardly directed valve seat with a valve opening. The valve seat bears on the inner wall of the jacket, wherein the jacket can be compressed laterally of the valve seat in order to open the valve. In this way, the inner wall is moved away from the at least one valve seat.
