The semiconductor products are clamped by a clamping mechanism comprising a stationary clamp and a movable clamp. The movable clamp follows the indexing movement of the lead frame assembly during wirebonding of the semiconductor products clamped by the movable clamp. The wirebonding process does not need to be interrupted for the indexing.

Abstract: A multi-axis chuck that rotates about at least two axes. Preferably, the axes are perpendicular. The multi-axis chuck includes a first portion, second portion, and third portion. Rear sides of the first portion and the second portion have a first mating portion that mates with a second mating portion provided on the second portion and the third portion, respectively. The mating portions enable the first portion and the second portion to be rotated about the axes. Preferably, the first portion rotates about a first axis independently of the second and third portions. Rotation of the second portion about a second axis preferably also rotates the first portion about the second axis. The multi-chuck is operatively connected to a motor, controller, and sensors. A user inputs a desired position into the controller that controls the motor. The motor rotates the multi-axis chuck to the desired position. The sensors are used to determine a position of the multi-axis chuck.

  • Patent number: 6948720
Abstract: A computer controlled positioning table for use in automatically rotating a large diameter article into which an evenly spaced circle of bolt holes are to be drilled. The article to be drilled is centered and clamped onto a table top of the table and then the computer rotates the table top incrementally to precisely position the article relative to an associated stationary drill stand that is used to drill the desired holes in the article. Rotation of the table top is computer controlled, allowing the operator to select the number of bolt holes for each article. Once the table top has rotated to the proper position, locking mechanisms and support roller provided under the table top hold the table top stationary in the proper position while a hole is drilled in the article.
