Peripheral Mounting Static Seal Patents (Class 277/573)
  • Patent number: 11808355
Abstract: A coolant regulator is provided including a housing having a coolant chamber and a rotary vane arranged therein, a drive shaft leading out of the coolant chamber that rotates the rotary vane, and a shaft seal which seals the coolant chamber from the surroundings. The shaft seal seals against a housing inner lateral surface of a housing recess and sealingly encloses the drive shaft. An end portion of the shaft seal facing the rotary vane is a circular ring that, under elastic deformation of the bead thereof, seals against the housing inner lateral surface on the outer circumference and encompasses a spreading ring on the inner circumference that limits an axial shift of the shaft seal toward the rotary vane to a dimension d<s. s is the axial distance between the bead center of the undisplaced shaft seal and the opening of the housing recess facing the rotary vane.

  • Patent number: 8992194
Abstract: A seal member is configured so that an annular rubber member is disposed in an annular storage chamber of a resin annular member. Thus, the rubber annular member is not directly in contact with a drive shaft, and the rubber annular member can be prevented from wearing or peeling without requiring a rotation stopping structure for the seal member. Furthermore, the seal member is provided with first and second communication mouths, so that a brake fluid pressure is applied to compartments obtained by dividing the annular storage chamber using the rubber annular member. Thus, the rubber annular member is pressed, and then is elastically deformed, and accordingly, the resin annular member is expanded by the elastic force. Thus, a self-sealing operation can be performed on the basis of a high pressing force.

  • Patent number: 6406029
Abstract: A seal ring having a frustoconical spring completely encapsulated within an annular body provides a bias force to an annular lip seal of the annular body to assure positive contact with an opposed face of an adjacently disposed member of a joint assembly. The seal ring requires minimal counterbore depth in the member in which the seal ring is mounted, and no modifications are required in the spring or in the base of the counterbore to provide retention of the spring in the joint.

  • Patent number: 6367810
Abstract: A seal assembly is undersized in relation to the bore in which it is installed to permit radial floating of the seal assembly within the bore to enable precise coaxial alignment between the seal assembly and shaft, despite misalignment between the axis of the shaft and the axis of the bore. A retaining ring urges a face seal of the seal assembly into static sealing engagement with the stepped face of the bore to prevent leakage of the fluid around the seal assembly.

  • Patent number: 6315296
Abstract: A unitary sleeve lip seal can be used to provide permanently lubricated sealed bearings in severe service conditions such as the track pins of track-driven vehicles and agricultural equipment. The seal has a labyrinthine exclusion path and multiple dust lips contacting the sleeve in addition to the main sealing lip. A garter spring encircling the main sealing lip may enable the seal to operate at moderately elevated pressures. The sleeve has a radial flange at the outermost end. Elastomeric lips extend between the sleeve flange and a faceplate that terminates the outside end of the seal housing. The seal is packed with water-resistant grease and can, when installed in association with grease-packed bearings can create a permanently lubricated bearing/shaft assembly that requires no re-greasing. Resilient coatings both protect the sleeve and case and also improve leak resistance, especially when the seal is retrofitted onto shafts that have been damaged.

  • Patent number: 6302404
Abstract: A sealing device primarily for sealing off a slit-shaped space between two radially extending surfaces arranged about a shaft and axially displaceable relative to each other along the shaft includes a first sleeve-shaped seal part and an elastically resilient sealing body. The first sleeve-shaped part forms together with the shaft an axially open space facing the cooperating surface. The elastically, resilient sealing body has in an uncompressed state a cross-sectional area and/or a shape deviating from the area and/or shape of the axially open space. The sealing body when subjected to axial forces causing the sealing body surface and the cooperating surface to abut each other is compressed sealingly between the axial space and the cooperating surface, thereby creating a sealing engagement against the entrance of the slit-shaped space and against the shaft.
